I got to see Wangechi Mutu’s works at the Legion of Honor recently. Seeing her works and expression made her one of my favorite artists, everyone I was with was moved by her sculpture and collage and video works too!
Her work, particularly her collages, are the story of white america…because THAT is how they see African Americans. She’s from Africa and has little realized experience of a chattel racist system. She puts out images that are creative in technique but are negative and degrading in the context of who these enslaved people really were.
One of my favorite artists is Kerry John Marshall, I really loved his work, "SOB, SOB." I think a new favorite artist will emerge from this video! Thank you for your content, it's so thorough but concise at the same time,

My favorite would have to be Tamara Natalie Madden!! I love the colors and symbolism she includes within her art. I loved Bisa Butler’s in this video too I haven’t heard of her before and her cloth work is so intricate, colorful, and beautiful!
Where's Martin Puryear on the list? He's the best contemporary artist in America period, and he just happens to be "Black" regardless of his color. Have you even heard of him?
