  • Here is the Vendée Globe update for day 79. Final 24hrs until the leader crosses the finish line. It's too close to call. One mistake and everything changes.
    Quick Poll: Who do you think will be on the Podium?

    Podium: {Yannick, Charlie, Boris, Thomas, Louis}, in no predicable order ;-). That's what makes it so gripping, despite all the advances in routing, polars and forecasts. Very much appreciate following your insights and routes. Your show has been a major contributor to this edition's COVID dividend.

      Thanks Frank - what a race, the Virtual race was pretty intense as well, but this finish is something else!

    Have enjoyed each of the broadcasts you’ve done for this Vendee Globe, Conrad !! Thanks for the English language option! And for your mellow and informed style of covering the race really adding so many of the less obvious details. coming from such an accomplished sailor and prior Vendee competitor, your knowledge of the conditions everyone is facing and choices they need to make is really something fascinating to listen to! What a great sportsman you are, and from across the pond we’re also just hoping for a safe finish to this incredible challenge around the globe during this crazy time !!

    I would like to see Boris on first place. But guess it is a race between Burton and Dalin. It is super exciting anyway. Maybe a better wind angle from the south for Dalin and Boris?! I dont know 😅

    Conrad after the Vendée how about a monthly sailing show about what’s next for the IMOCA class? You are amazing!

      Thanks Robin! There is certainly some interesting sailing ahead for the IMOCA class and we've got SailGP coming to town this summer.

    Looks like it critically depends on the wind direction - this morning's forecast models differ on SW to W direction & strength especially near Les Sables D'Olonne .. If the wind switches, and Yannick has to gybe.. then he may lose the top position to Charlie/Boris- may be minutes in it!

      Yes, wind angle will be the key, the boat sailing at 20kts direct to the finish will probably win. Looks like Charlie also has a good angle.

    Lookin at the vendee app , yannick is pretty much fastest boat in whole fleet , faster than boris by about 1.5knots but in previous 4hrs they've both sailed same distance about 70nm . But I'm not a mathematician so got no idea what it means except damn close ! Fantastic race !

      I'm not sure we'll know until Charlie crosses the line - he's going pretty quick at the moment!

    Where did the 2016/17 boat of Alex Thomson end up?

    • @ConradHumphreys
      @ConradHumphreys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was sold to 11th Hour racing with a condition that it couldn't be used for the 2020 Vendee.
