Favourite character is easily Hopper. Ever since season 1. Love his motives, he wants to care for 11 like a daughter, due to how he lost his original one. Love his courage, just everything.
Really? They aiight but the kids in “IT” were at least a little more convincing to me. I know there are other movies with amazing child actors but that’s just the last movie I seen recently with kids
That bit was great, my favorite thing of the whole season by far was steve and dustin. They just meshed so well together. Plus I always wanted a brother and that showed of exactly why.
You say that but you don’t as much as you might think. Everything is shared. Also there are always fights and arguments. Always company when your little kids though. Having a brother has its pros and cons.
Says every typical movie person ever. I hate people who quote movies and don't have substantial opinions. You're the carbon copies of everyone else who isn't a critical thinking person.
Steve tactic works 100%. He tried so hard in season 1 and Nancy leaves him. In season 2 he just dont give a fuck and let her go and everybody loves him :D
Steve really did grow a lot. He traded in douchebaggery for being a loyal defender of the crew while also learning how to accept and let go of where he is in the relationship.
There is a small detail everyone seems to actually forget. On Season 1, maybe even first or second episode (don't remember perfectly), Dustin has a crush on Nancy, Nancy shuts the door on his face. The ending of Season 2 is a happy one because Dustin gets to dance with Nancy. So he also finally gets his crush. :)
I disagree, I feel there was a lot of untapped depth to Billy. He's abused by his father, and he displaces that onto Max. He can't retaliate against his father or step-mother, so he interprets the "reason" for his suffering as being Max. It may be wrong, but you can understand it. Billy's depth was much more subtle, but it is there.
I thought the typical gang was an illusion the whole time. Like 008 just wanted a feeling of family and thus created one through her memory of perhaps typical tv shows that projects themselves everywhere. Then again that means she hould constantly have nose bleeds and who be driving the van.
The crew from episode 7 was one of the most cringe worthy I have ever seen. Truly terrible and so out of place. It was like watching a whole other show. Would have rather had a whole episode of Steve and Dustin hanging out than that.
I didn't hate it as much as other people did, but it definitely felt out of place. At the very end when Eleven sees Hopper and Mike in the cliffhanger from the previous episode I was like "Oh right, this is Stranger Things". It really felt like I took a 40 minute break from watching the show to watch something else.
If that's the way S3 will go, I don't think I would like it. I like that small town, 80's vibe. If they'll go to the big city with others who also have superpowers, the "vibe" of the show will go lost (like Ep7)
My biggest disappointment was how they handled the "Upside Down". Season 2 was all about the tunnels and the Mind Flayer acting like a virus that's infecting Will. But I much preferred the idea of Season 1, where the Upside Down seemed much more interesting. Like when Will was trapped in the Upside Down, he was in the same house as the mom, they couldn't see each other but they could communicate. And then you had demogorgons passing through portals in the walls / trees. That was cool.
From how I interpreted it, episode 7 was trying to show what would've happened if Eleven went more darkside, basically showing her what not to do. Yeah at first she was enjoying being around them, but she realized how good she had it with her friends in Hawkins and how her life could've turned out if she wasn't as good natured.
Wasn't expecting you to review this. Love the stranger things intro you did for this. I love stranger things and I'm excited to see what they will come out next for season 3.
It had its moments. Wasn't as good as season 1, though. (SPOILERS) The best character has to be Hopper and Steve. Steve definitely got redemption again, but he didn't deserve what Nancy did to him. He changed, but Nancy still slept with Jonathan because its the rule of "loser gets the girl". That's pretty much the only role he plays. To be a punching bag to feel remorse (even though we only see him get bullied for ACTUALLY [but accidentally] spying on people at the wrong time] for, and later miraculously shows up last second to save someone. Nancy just has so much pity for him, that Jon manages to finally seal the deal when she's thinking over things and is going through more character development. Steven genuinely loved Nancy, and despite his faults, struggled between keeping some independence and not hurting Nancy. He doesn't want to go to the girl's (forgot her name, the redhead with glasses who no one really cared about) because he known whats going to happen deep down, and that it would hurt Nancy. Yeah, he originally pressured her into sex, but that doesn't negate his sacrifices in order to protect people. Steve seems to have matured so much since then, and yet the world still sees him as the same bully. He deserves at least one win somewhere, right? Nope. He gets the shit kicked out of him, and Nancy fucks Jonathan cause there was 'magic in the air'. Jonathan always managed to be in the right places at the right time to take her off her feet, and bring her home to safety, with sure well that Nancy sees this. Meanwhile Steve was the one fighting giant-fuck-off dog monsters, daemon-things and tentacles. But still, Jonathan always brings her home when it's some sort of high-school teenager drama. Jonathan is just not a very fleshed out character, whose only role is to relate to the more anti-social or awkward teenagers. I seriously don't remember any significant dialogue with him besides the ones with Will. I chose Hopper as well, cause he's a bad ass (like always) and you get to see him try to father a telekinetic, emotionally unstable, little girl. Sure, we don't learn more about his wife and daughter, but it's just nice to see him in general. And Eleven? Her scenes were "reeeee" until something breaks. Even though nothing really happened in episode 7, and it was the least-liked episode, it really showed that Eleven FINALLY matured even just a LITTLE. That had to be the considerably good part in the episode. Even then, I've lost all empathy with her. She's killed dozens of people. Yes, she was a lab rat for experimentation to fight the under-world, but that only makes it understandable and not justifiable or nonpunishable. I loved it when Hopper said "You need to learn that your decisions have consequences." and locked her in her room. Eleven's PTSD triggered again and "reeee'd" untill everything in their house broke, but Hopper didin't give a fuck cause he's an emotional stable (albeit feisty and hardheaded) person. She needs some sort of redemption like Steve. Even then, it's gotta be a big fuckin' comeback, cause she easily could've just broken the guns, disarmed, or pushed back any human that made her feel threatened. She snapped a guys neck and squished another in a concrete wall for fucks sake! She is not a little girl! She needs to be treated like a young girl who has powers that can kill people. (which, why the fuck does 'Father' lock them up in a shitty prison-like institute? why would an emotionally unstable, telekinetic, young girl behave in this environment? What would've been better is if they tried their best to give her as close to a normal life as they could give her in there, and the events in the under-world or with her powers lead her to go crazy.) Mike had barely any dialogue. I don't recall him saying anything important besides a few "wait a minute I've solved it" moments. And in the end, why does everything go back to normal? Why don't they have PTSD after that shit? How does it all magically all go dandy, like it never happened? Why aren't they questioned by the government even a little? Why did Bob (who was a good and new character) die in a cliche "oh now it looks like I'm safe" moment? Why are people okay with the Nancy and Jonathan fucking for the sake of "hue hue the conspiracy guy makes a pullout joke and the deserve to be together" (He was a good new character too). Plot armor? Cliche media influence? For the sake of an ending? I still like it, don't get me wrong. It just had too many plot holes, strange character development, and arc choices to make me really thing it was better than season 1. Love the video, a lot of good points. The intro was awesome. : )
Can we just mention how it was Bob fault he died cause he could’ve escaped and lived but he decided to stop and smile at Joyce for an awful long time and long enough for the Alien dog to kill Bob
Yea, they could've killed his character off better. Instead, they went "Let's just stay here smiling at my lover while danger is right behind me". That was a stupid death.
Season 1 - Lights Season 2 - Paper Season 3 - Guns Season 4 - Propane Tanks Season 5 - Dynamite on a fuse Season 6 - Aliens that are going through puberty Season 7 - Hate mail Season 8 - Police Season 9 - etc.
The fuck? Yeah I’m sad he died but was he even in the first season? I sure as fuck don’t remember him mattering in season 1 and the show was fantastic.
I think that Season 2 was great but wasn't as unique as the first season. I HATED episode 7 of Season 2 because it wasn't stranger things and was instead a gothic episode. I actually rolled my eyes at 008
Not really Goth, it was punk, something huge in the 80's. Having a series and not having punk is just a big insult to the 80's. This series is obviously a tribute to the 80's. Everything about it screams 80's, ignoring it, like I said, would of been an insult.
BlackFragFilms SAME MAN the entire time I was just like he's gonna die it was way to predictable and before he died when he was all happy that he got out of the building you just knew the demodog was gonna get him from behind
Episode 7 was the "Yoda" episode. She helped Eleven figure out how to strengthen her powers and let us know some of the other kids lived. Just cuz some of the others escaped doesn't mean they would just be all hiding in other peoples basements in Hawkins. And I'm sorry but if we got to season 4 and all the sudden number 5, 8, 3 and 9 show up in the last ten minutes to help stop it once and for all people would be fuckin pissed. You have to start introducing them slowly at some point.
i agree, but they could have done it better then how they did, it was a 80's cartoon episode of extreem characters. too on the nose and didn't felt anything like the rest of the show. felt like a different show then a episode.
Totally agree, Dustin and Steve are the best characters. I was thinking that exact same thing while watching. I can totally see them being great comedic actors in the future. Steve in particular has fantastically subtle reactions. I will say, however, that the two new (brother and sister) characters lacked a lot of depth. Might be because I'm a 90's guy but I needed a little more out of them. I was expecting more and it totally let me down there.
I really like the scene when Billy was pushed down by his dad. It shows an element of why Billy is like that. Him even tearing up puts him in a less 2D situation and brings out his character perhaps for the future in other seasons.
I think the two new was only meant to create curiosity in 2 season and they are throwing subtle hints to their storyline to come in season 3 all over the episodes
I feel like I'm the only one who thinks Season 2 is better than Season 1. I really liked Season 1, but didn't think it was amazing or anything, a solid 8/10. Season 2, however, was phenomenal. I felt the acting was even better, especially with Will playing a major role, and the editing, directing, and writing were top notch, big improvements from last season. I felt much more emotionally invested and all the characters felt important. The only things I didn't like were the randomness of episode 7 and how everything went back to normal at the end, the exact same way the first season ended.
Agreed. The season had a slow yet enjoyable start, but once it picked up the pace it got so damn good. Comparing seasons 1 and 2 is like comparing Alien to Aliens. Equally great stories for vastly different reasons.
Episode 7 works on Eleven as a character. Eleven tries to desperately try to find a place where she wouldn't be imprisoned or betrayed. She felt imprisoned by Hopper, and is betrayed by Becky, while she was at Mama's. During episodes seven and six, Becky and Kali even say, "This is your home now". But Eleven doesn't want that, she wants to be in a safe home where she doesn't feel safe. This is why those "dream sequences" that Eleven was having is so important. She realizes from those dreams that there is only one place she will feel safe and loved, Hawkins. Just my take on the "pointless" episode that the fan base seems to hate.
that could have done better/different, nothing wrong for having 11 get some growth away from hawins and her friends. it makes sence but the whole eposide was just out of tone. the dreams , her sister could have been handeld better and not mess the pasing of the season
Preston Garvey think in the mind of the character! His first love sacrifices herself to save him and his friends from a monster from another dimension! (Kinda tough) and his best friend was taken by that same monster to another dimension and nobody knew if he was alive or dead for a week! And then after El’s disappearance, Mike doesn’t even know if she is alive or not for nearly a year, while dealing with a friend who’s slowly becoming possessed and parents that clearly don’t give a crap about him and are so unsupportive. Seems like some good reasons to be a little emo and short tempered! Heck many teenagers are similar to him with absolutely NO reason behind it. So think in the mind of the character before addressing this stuff.
I found the dynamic of Hopper and Eleven's rapidly disintegrating situation heartbreaking, and really well done. In that scene both characters are in the wrong, in different ways, and yet for both of them you can completely understand why they're behaving like that.
BloodyBatons yeah sadly Jonathan's whole arc this season was getting with Nancy. When you've got so many decent characters to develop in a season some have to go in the background. This season that was pretty much Jonathan, Nancy and even Eleven and Mike for the most part of the season.
Dan Nardi annnd he did. And when asked what specific issue he didn't like, he starts "Ermm, I mean... I mean..." and then reiterates Joe's issues with it. Dude has no clue or can't articulate what made him not like movies.
He said barely a 8 but doesn't elaborate on his "problems" of the show other than what the two Joe's state. He doesn't know how to be a informed critic. Really, the music?? The music is still great.
In my opinion Stranger Things 2 was alot more impactful and drew me in at almost 100% of all the episodes. I cared so much more about the characters and really felt their emotions this time around. Fuck that Episode 7 "Eleven Punk" episode though. Seriously did not care about those other characters.
Episode 7 didn't work because there was no variety in the scenes; what makes the show so exciting is that the show constantly switches between different characters and showing interactions between familiar characters. I think the purpose of it was to tease season 3, kind of like the kingpin episode in daredevil season 2 which lays the groundwork for his return in season 3.
My prediction and hope for season. 3: Steve didn't get accepted to collage due to horrible essay mentioned in the first season so stays in town and starts looking for career opportunities. He is Hoppers new deputy.
I think Season 1’s smaller scale made for a better story, but I do think Season 2 was good enough to hold a candle. I just hope Season 3 was twice as long
Bob was my favorite character because he reminds me of myself in ways as a Dad. I know I'm not the coolest person but that's ok because being a Dad isn't about being cool. Plus he is a nerd which I consider myself. I'm glad he didn't turn out to be bad guy because I was suspicious about him for a little bit.
I'm a little on the fence about Will on this list. One side of me thinks he doesn't do anything to make you really like him, he's just the kid who's in danger again, but then another part of me thinks that Noah portrayed Will so brilliantly that I just want to rank him higher.
Jordanb98 Hopper is my favorite, and the only time I've cried during the show, are a particular few scenes with him and Eleven. Oh, and of course, when Hopper revives Will, while having PTSD of his daughter unsuccessful revival.
Marshall aleks I personally like Dustin/Steve/Hopper. Dustin and Steve are both hilarious and so like able without a doubt. Hopper on the other hand on my OPINION gives some great emotional scenes with Eleven. It gave me Logan vibes with all the arguing and frustration with both of the characters
Nobody noticed that the 2 seasons are EXACTLY the same? Something is weird, the characters are separated in groups at first and find out different things, then they meet and put it all together, eleven beats the monster and happy ever after... Acting is extraordinary but I'm not looking forward to S3 at all...
@Alex, How is it the same? It's definitely different than season 1. The first season is about Will going miss and the introduction to Eleven, and the second season is about Will's trauma from the upside down and his possession. To say it's the exact same is B.S.
Two sittings, but like two hours apart. I watched the entire series - season one and season two - from start to finish over an entire night and I didn't even go to bed until around 7 in the morning. I agree with everyone that episode 7 of ST2 was kind of unnecessary - important as it was in terms of development for the character - but overall S2 was just as good as S1 with extremely higher stakes.
Everyone and their mother seems to hate Episode 7 for some asinine reason, am I the only human that liked an episode where we saw what would happen to El if she escaped early on? Am I the only one that could see how 8 is a decent and intelligent character? Nope, apparently I'm the only one who didn't flip a fucking coin on deciding whether I liked each episode or not...
NatarisX I compared it to flipping a coin because out of all the episodes that have issues; specifically the early ones for having Mike, Hopper, Dustin, and El act likes cunts for their own reasons (El is the most justifiable I admit, but Dustin has no excuse for pulling the shit he did and you know it) it seems completely random that Episode 7 gets all the hate it got. I get that everyone has their own opinions; but when it's unanimous and the reasoning they use is mostly garbage, theyaa may as well be flipping a coin. "Poor taste", "Bad Acting, Script, Directing" way to make a concrete argument there Roger Ebert. The tone changes because a story evolves; the tone changed when we focused on El in season 1, no one bitched when we saw a little girl kill a few guards right after we saw a seen of 3 middle schoolers good around. And of all the things that happen and exist in this show: a government unleashing monsters from another dimension onto a small town where a few kids, teens, and adults plus one super kid born from an experimente of MK-ULTRA stop an uncontrollable monster... And a city full of punks doesn't fit in the universe? Give me a break, you're the only one here acting like a brain dead fanboy because the first half of season two is full of unnecessary pandering, characters acting unlike themselves, needless tension, and Epsiode 7 is where things finally come together and the action heats up. For fuck sakes, El gets some closure in that episode! "Go buy some taste kid" How about, instead of using insults to compensate for your lack of an ability to formulate a real argument, you go and post a link of real, formulated criticisms of Episode 7.
there is a reason why ep7 gets so much heat, its not about the progress or closure 11 gets it how the overal feel is of the episode, its out of place with the season and messes with the flow of it. the side kicks of 8 were really awe full and on the nose. there are a lot of thins mis with this episode that just could have done better. as for the kid acting out, they have been trough a trauma and working things out, they are teens and probably with a form of ptsd and what not. so them lashing out (like the table convo with mike and his dad) seems reasonable to me. 11 being pissed because basically she is locked up and throwing a tantrum seemed logic to me. and ep 7 nothing heated up, cause ep8 started right where 6 stopped. the front of the van got shot at directly by a dozen of cops and nothing broke was just bad directing (that narrow escape nonsense, let her drive of while her illusion was still up would have made more sense) . it might seem like flipping a coin to you thats because ep7 felt like a different show, the acting was nothing bad, just not good. the types the whole feeling between the group of outcasts felt made and forced. (its hard to give a good feeling in one ep i know, but seeing how good the other actors play of each other and all of a sudden this, feels out of place)
ManiacX1999 I really would make an argument with you but I can already tell that you can take no different opinion from yours as an answer cuz all you will do is get riled up lol 😂 oh and by the way YOU HAVE NO TASTE
The only thing I disagree with is that the Mind flayer will possess someone again and the reason why is they know how to get it out of ppl, which was burning it out. I think what’s gonna happen is they’re gonna bring back 8 without her crew and she and 11 are gonna possibly deal with the father character. Mike, will, and the others will be in high school and probably deal with their own problems. Meanwhile the Mind flayer is in the background building an army that will at some point reveal itself at the end of season 3. Season 4 should be about everyone coming together and fighting the Mind flayer and killing it. This is just my opinion though. Also if there’s another snow ball dance you better not leave my boi Dustin alone, YOU BETTER GET HIM A GIRL.
Am I the only one who doesn't like Nancy and Jonathan being together? Jon didn't seem to have much depth to him this season, and the scene where they spontaneously kiss and then supposedly have sex was random. And btw, there is no way Jon had a condom
Yeah I agree with you there. Steve turned out to be a pretty awesome guy, Nancy should have stayed with him. And it also felt way too fast and cliche when Nancy ended up with Jon.
I just watched both seasons for the first time this weekend, and I absolutely love this show. I think one of my biggest problems with season 2, besides Hopper forgetting about Eleven when the creatures were loose, was when Eleven Reunited with Mike. He tried contacting her for 353 days, constantly dealt with the reality that she might have been dead or lost in the Upside Down, carried so much grief, and when he found out that Hopper was hiding her from him- he wasn't as furious as I'd expected. He obviously cares for her and holds her dearly, and that scene wasn't as emotional as I expected. A normal person would be overwhelmed with the joy and relief of finding out someone you cared so much for was okay, and would be so angry in the moment with Hopper- he'd probably lose teeth! Try imagining losing a kid, lover, or relative- and the person you trusted the most hid them from you. Hopper pretty much knowingly let Mike suffer with an unbearable pain for almost a year. Hopper could have just said "you can't see her, but she's safe and well," but he didn't even do that. I was thinking Mike would absolutely lose his mind, and never forgive Hopper. I expected him to be more emotional meeting Eleven. The person you so dearly cared about, who was missing for a year- was okay! I really expected a more emotional response from him. I would imagine Mike being so scared and petrified by the thought of Eleven being trapped or dead! And to find out that Hopper showed no empathy or care for Mike's suffering was surprising! I really was expecting a more emotional reunion and a more furious Mike. It really made me like Hopper a lot less, seeing him not care for those who trusted him and loved him. What do you guys think?
JOE!! PLEASE do the Battlefront 2 review before black friday! On your review depends whether I buy an Xbox One or not! THANK YOU for your restless fight against the bullshit of the gaming industry! EDIT: I doubt you will, you might not want to rush through it, if thats the case then I understand :)
SolarFury, why do you think Ill wait for Joe's review? Dumbass... Who says Im supporting it? Besides, I read they fixed the Loot crates, the ones you buy with real money do not contain cards of the highest rarity. I'll wait to see if it's true.
AlejoConejo2209 not just the ones you buy, all crates can't give you epic cards, and you need to reach certain levels to upgrade the cards, wich means anyone have to play to use the upgraded cards... we just have to see how much
but crates give you the currency to craft the epics faster... its still p2w with dumb objectively better upgrades which make the new player experience even worse
The whole max character arc felt forced and unnecessary like Lucas being the only black kid I got but him also dating a white girl in an all white town in the 80s with no one staring is like come on really...like I think this show could of been a good nostalgic catch 22 of sorts because it went famous for its nostalgia mid life crisis jizz fest and I think this season could of been the first show I can think of that uses nostalgia as a reminder if you think the 80s and 90s were "The time to be alive" ya might have forgotten some stuff.
Ele's trip to Illinois was likely an introduction to characters that will play a larger part in season 3. But, more importantly, that whole episode (and the previous episode) were meant to develop Ele's sense of what 'home' is. I didn't feel the Illinois episode was pointless. It's an integral part of Ele's character. Bob Newby will live forever as the hero we didn't deserve, but so desperately needed.
Eleven's "Sister" episode SUCKED. It was completely unnecessary and it derailed the show for me. Those punk characters were annoying AS FUCK. No more from those characters please. The rest of the series was awesome.
I didn’t like this season. My reasons are that 1. Nancy and Jonathan didn’t contribute enough to the story besides in one of the last scenes where they close Hawkins lab through saying that barb died because of gases from the lab. I didn’t see any reason to close the lab though because they were actually helping everybody in this season. 2. MAX WAS FUCKING POINTLESS. They just brought max in to bring more reason for Lucas to ACTUALLY FUCKING EXIST. 3. My final point is that ELEVEN WAS BARELY IN THE SEASON AND HAD THE WORST EPISODE EVER. Episode 7 where she joins a gang of misfits who don’t belong in society. ELL was practically pointless along with mike who we BARELY saw.
Huge Fan of AJ so Thanks for using my intro music inspired by the show theme! :) I kinda liked 7th "bottle" episode - cheesy as it is - it reminded me of Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and 4 somehow, please don't hate Me ;)
At first, I thought Billy and Mad Max were part of the gang in the first episode (EL's sister gang/suicide squad). The whole suicide squad and EL's sister was written so bad that i thought Madmax was part of her group - at least I thought so, at first. Which would have been a better tie in than episode 7.
One of the things I wanted to hear your opinions on was what if Eleven and Will becomes stepsiblings since Hopper adopted Eleven and He and Joyce seemed to have a thing at the end of the season? I personally would not like that since Mike told Eleven in the first season that when it is over she would live with him and his family so it would be wrong to have her living with Will.
I feel like the stuff in episode 7 could've happened off camera and have eleven return with the whole punk look and have one of the "holey shit what happened to you" momments
The climax to season 1 was way better than season 2 wtf? Season one had an incredibly gripping climax with the death of one of the main characters in an act of sacrifice. This was how to end a series or a good way to have a new tone for the next season. Eleven was bound to come back, and i knew that but how they did it was insulting. Eleven should have either died or taken a while to figure out how to get out of the upsidedown. But instead, she randomly just finds a fucking hole like a minute and a half after she got into the upsidedown! Not even 5 minutes into the first episode and already it wasnt going to live up to season 1. That and the fact that some characters were overlooked. Mike wasn't that entertaining, Nancy didn't do much, Joyce was the exact same and wasn't too entertaining and Jonathan did absolutely nothing. The climax for season 2 wasn't great, but the ending was good. The part where Eleven/Jane closes the gate didnt hold any weight. She already conquered her demons in episode 7 and they weren't going to kill he off, they just got her back from a near death expierience. Hopper might have died, but he didnt, which could had lead to something emotional. Season two had some good stuff, but it skipped out on others. Some characters were great, others were left out. The season has almost nothing that surprised me and the beginning was shockingly bad. It re-did thing that were done in season 1 leading to repetition. The season was great, Joe, you already pointed out some great stuff, but i don't think it was close to matching the prior season. Stranger Things Season One is a 10/10 for me, my favourite TV show. Stranger Things Season Two is a low 8/10, almost as good as some of the better seasons in game of thrones like 1 or 3.
THANK YOU! Finally someone who isn't riding Stranger Things' dick. This season was garbage, i almost stopped after 3 episodes because i was so bored. I LOVED season 1, brilliantly written and compelling, while season 2 was meh, first season the demogorgon is invincible, season 2 it becomes aliens and can be killed so easily. Don't even get me started on both seasons ended THE EXACT SAME WAY. Literally both seasons end with the shadow creature with a storm behind it. Waste of time
Cool? Like i said i loved season 1, but this season was shit, and just cause it's stranger things doesn't mean it should just be ignored. Nobody will thank you for being on a bandwagon buddy
It didn't die. It was clear that she was saying goodbye and dropping food just gave it even more away that she will remain alive. Sorry, but nothing suggested Eleven died, specially cause that would kill the franchise on the spot and seeing how successful it was, killing Eleven would of been the biggest mistake they could of done. if you thought so, then it might had been great, but for most people who saw it coming, it didn't meant much for us.
Joe's game reviews are better. His movie reviews are entertaining, but off... I get that opinions are just that, but he doesn't seem to have a solid base for reviewing films. It's frustrating.
I've heard a few people complain about the hive mind setup. Essentially, they've made it so that the entire Upside Down has a single point of failure via Mind Flayer. They did the same thing on Game of Thrones with the Night King.
The Eleven/Jane solo episode was supposed to show her learning who her family really is. She got out there, found her mom, and her sister by association, and learned they are not her family as she believed. She learned her family is Hopper, and Mike. I also suspect that 8 and potentially other sisters will play a bigger part in season 3. Perhaps returning to Hawkins and stirring up trouble.
Season 2 was better in some ways, but I feel like it was a bit worse in others, it lost some of the psychological horror elements of the first. They could have amplified those elements if they kept the adult demogorgons instead of the demodogs, something about a huge army of full grown monsters crawling out of the walls and shit is way cooler than those little dog like versions. Season 2 was great and I can’t wait for the next season, I just feel like season 2 lost some of my favorite parts of the first, and they killed bob
Episode 7 was one of my favorite episodes. A complete love letter to John Carpenter. It opened up so many possibilities for the next couple seasons and honestly I nerded out pretty hard when the bank robbery music from Escape From New York started playing.
I'd like to add too, that I've been reading reviews, and I was an 80's kid. I lived it. It may be cool to reminisc on nastalga, but I'm not a millennial. I'm 37, and it was just uniquely fresh to see something like this when season 1 came out. It was a thrill ride you didn't ever know which way it was going but you knew it was something special. This season lost it's mystery and excitement by overduing special effects which bigger isn't always better. The small feel of Hawkings in season 1 had you closely glued to the happenings in Hawkings. And you were right there with the 5 of them trying to figure out how to defeat this upside down portal that opened up. You were engaged every moment of season 1. Season 2 just scattered everything and made it hard to root for the main 5 when so much other unnessessary crap was going on. They needed to develop the D&D game so it got even more intense yet more mysterious as to how to stop it. If they would've ran on this idea alone which should've been season 2 to begin with, they could've ran with it so deep down the wormhole, that every season could've got bigger and badder and better with time. They had a masterpiece gem in season 1 that stood the test of time and raised the bar for what horror or even tv could be. They botched it though when they added so much other crap and diverted from the original story. The government also were the antagonist in season 1. They became weak and irrelevant in season 2. That was a great strong hold for season 1, and I think people would generally follow hating the government strong hold rather then them giving up and giving in. Because that's an entity almost anybody can relate to hating is fucked up shit the government does behind the scenes. Anyways, we live in a soft Facebook watered down friendly nobody can offend anyone without getting blocked generation. I'm old school I guess and I think this show opened the door to a new idea that hadn't been done before. People also who have experienced dark spiritual places like myself can relate to the upside down and to most it's just fantasy, but for me, it was close to the real dark places I've been. And the closest graphical representation of the dark places I've been of anything I've seen in horror or on TV before. It's dark. And season 1 captures that feeling of death on a fantastic level. Season 2 gets cartoony for me in ways with the spider monster dude thingie. Not scary, cheesy. And they should'nt reveal what's unknown because you can't reveal the unknown. You can only study it and try to find answers.
I preferred season 2 over 1, eleven was my least favourite character so I was glad she was put at the back, and I prefer seeing more of the upside down and spooky creatures,
Wait a second!!! U know that they had a battery in the upside down. Well when they closed the portal how come the power didn't go off if that would've cut off the power.!!! Oh my god holy shit
Yup, totally agree with this review. I need more Dustin/Steve bromance in my life fo sho. Kinda bummed you didn’t talk about the reunion of Mike and Eleven, that was one of the most touching, badass scenes of the entire season.
Eleven found her independence and courage in that little arc where she met her "sister." I loved it for those reason, as well as planting seeds for the future.
Favourite character is easily Hopper. Ever since season 1. Love his motives, he wants to care for 11 like a daughter, due to how he lost his original one. Love his courage, just everything.
Antonio. S hopper and Steve are the best
For real...Steve really stepped up this season and was honestly was a genuine character and awesome actor
Sean Astin could never play a villain lol.
He reminds me so much of Jim Raynor from StarCraft
steve stepped up this season for you ? He didn't step up when he wen't to fight the monster from season 1 ?
These really were the best performances by child actors I've ever seen.
MiiqeX you clearly have never seen a sweatshop. Those kids aren't actually suffering. They're just good actors
Go watch the witch and then you 'll know better.
Watch gifted
Really? They aiight but the kids in “IT” were at least a little more convincing to me.
I know there are other movies with amazing child actors but that’s just the last movie I seen recently with kids
"Hey buddy, it's okay shhh, he kicked your ass but you put up a good fight" -Dustin.
That bit was great, my favorite thing of the whole season by far was steve and dustin. They just meshed so well together. Plus I always wanted a brother and that showed of exactly why.
Best line of the whole season lol
not having a brother is not at all bad , everything has its ups and downs , trust me
You say that but you don’t as much as you might think.
In season 2 he just dont give a fuck and let her go and everybody loves him :D
an allegory for life lol
Everyone like steve because hes down to fuck shit up at a moments notice
about 99 ninjas Lmao yes!
To be fair, being a bro for everyone really helps.
Why do you think Dustin ever had a crush on Nancy? Because he offered her the pizza? That was just Dustin being Dustin, a sweet kid.
@Undertow 82 What do you mean?
Bro, I didn't even realize that
Bob is the fucking man
I am a Puppy *was
I am a Puppy hell yea
Of course, he's a superhero..
I am a Puppy respect goes out to Bob...
I might turn gay if I could marry Bob. What a guy!
Also, I feel the Lost Sister episode is meant to set up for Season 3. Eight's illusionary powers have a lot of potential for horror.
I thought the typical gang was an illusion the whole time. Like 008 just wanted a feeling of family and thus created one through her memory of perhaps typical tv shows that projects themselves everywhere. Then again that means she hould constantly have nose bleeds and who be driving the van.
maaaax SAY IT!!!!!!
I agree with you point of view. I just wrote a comment like yours to another poster.
Alphahero RHO well that would make this season Alot better.
The crew from episode 7 was one of the most cringe worthy I have ever seen. Truly terrible and so out of place. It was like watching a whole other show.
Would have rather had a whole episode of Steve and Dustin hanging out than that.
the only one I liked was that big black dude, but I was stiill hoping all of them would die at the end of that episode
Doug Kelly not out of place. It will play a big part in season 3. Watch
Neoshenlong Archivo 2008 - 2011 I felt the same way.
I agree, I love season 2 but I feel like it lost the psychological horror elements of season 1
4 years late but 100% agreed.
But she is way far from being good though....
Jonathan, how was the pull out?
Or did he pullout? 🤔
Filip Mrcela Nancy pregnant in S3 LOL
+Fuck Cataluna the couch?
he was coked out of his mind
Made me laugh so hard
Wasn't expecting you to review this. Love the stranger things intro you did for this. I love stranger things and I'm excited to see what they will come out next for season 3.
shadowlinkbds stranger things is gay
Izzy how is it gay?
I legit thought his intro was going to be Angrier things 2 to reference the channel too. That wouldve been a highlight for me 😂😂😂😂
I expected him to review thor ragnarok by now
Steve became one of my favorite characters too. They should add him to their party.
xzen667 You think he would hang out with kids all the time?
TeoCRO I would hope so. He probably wouldn't stick well, but he clearly enjoys Dustin's company at least. Maybe he'll grow to like DnD
I think Steve could be an awesome Dark Knight.
xzen667 isn’t he already, isn’t he the defender or something like that? I might be mistaken and if I am don’t get mad
same
Elevens sister eight reminds me of that girl from infamous second son
Efraín Ram Lol i thought that to
i played the game when it was on free on plus so i saw her like that to
Holy shit you're soooooo right
It had its moments.
What would've been better is if they tried their best to give her as close to a normal life as they could give her in there, and the events in the under-world or with her powers lead her to go crazy.)
Mike had barely any dialogue.
Steve is my goat and I feel the same way too, they did him bad damn
Stranger things is one of the best series i've ever watched. The nostalgic and the acting is top.
I dont get your point... But atleast I know iam not a gay. Ask your mom.
helios is right stfu non-believers stop living in denial lmao
Mike James LOL you haven't seen many shows have you?
Depends what many shows are?
Not to mention the incredible soundtrack and editing, especially this season!
That last 15 minutes was GOLD.
Also Mike, Hopper, Will and Eleven are best.
Also Bob was MVP
don't forget steve. literally every time shit was going down i was like DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE KILL HIM
Antares I KNOW, this is like one of the few shows where there's no characters I don't love
Antares I thought Steve was going to be killed when he was lifting the kids up out of the tunnel when the demodogs were running at them.
I was crying like a baby during that final scene
Mike was kinda boring this season, he doesn't really do anything. Dustin and Lucas were the best.
Can we just mention how it was Bob fault he died cause he could’ve escaped and lived but he decided to stop and smile at Joyce for an awful long time and long enough for the Alien dog to kill Bob
Infinite Killer DemoDog* :D
I shouted "fucking move!" when he did that because it was obvious he wouldn't make it
Yea, they could've killed his character off better. Instead, they went "Let's just stay here smiling at my lover while danger is right behind me". That was a stupid death.
Pretty sure it was a split second smile. It's just the slomo that made it look like a long moment.
cheesiest death ever, it was so fucking stupid.
Eleven did not go to Dagobah for Jedi training. She went to Korriban for a crash course in outcast Sith/dark side teachings.
Thedeepseanomad this comment is the best down here
I expect for every season of stranger things wills house will have some gimmick that turns the house into a mess and I kind of would like that
Season 1 - Lights
Season 2 - Paper
Season 3 - Guns
Season 4 - Propane Tanks
Season 5 - Dynamite on a fuse
Season 6 - Aliens that are going through puberty
Season 7 - Hate mail
Season 8 - Police
Season 9 - etc.
The Duffer Brothers committed one of televisions greatest mistake: they killed Samwise and now my interest in the shows future
Reece Willy They destroyed my fucking childhood.
What do you mean? he didn't die. he was under the dumpster the whole time.
*SPOILER AHEAD*
I felt like Bob's death was way too predictable. It felt like the only purpose for that character to die...
I knew it as soon as he was introduced. A side character who's fat, clumsy, nice, and smart. Welcome to the show Barb #2
BlackFragFilms SAME MAN the entire time I was just like he's gonna die it was way to predictable and before he died when he was all happy that he got out of the building you just knew the demodog was gonna get him from behind
Iam glad he died! A juicy snack for the Demodogs! Those fucking teeth face, ugh.....gave me the creeps!
He's the perfect guy, of course he's gonna die. He had absolutely no flaws. He existed to die, he's just a plot device.
It didn't really help that the character had the most generic name possible. Made him feel expendable right from the start.
episode 7 might not have fit stylistically but its not a bad episode. The evolution of 11 was needed for her character to grow...
Reject x-men is exactly what I was thinking the entire time I was watching through ep. 7.
Roni Rios a mix of Jean and Logan I’d says
Episode 7 was the "Yoda" episode. She helped Eleven figure out how to strengthen her powers and let us know some of the other kids lived. Just cuz some of the others escaped doesn't mean they would just be all hiding in other peoples basements in Hawkins. And I'm sorry but if we got to season 4 and all the sudden number 5, 8, 3 and 9 show up in the last ten minutes to help stop it once and for all people would be fuckin pissed. You have to start introducing them slowly at some point.
That all said, her "gang" were all fuckin awful.
i agree, but they could have done it better then how they did, it was a 80's cartoon episode of extreem characters. too on the nose and didn't felt anything like the rest of the show. felt like a different show then a episode.
No. It was complete trash. I facepalmed every single time that ridiculous crew opened their stupid fucking mouths.
The snow ball really hit me with the feels.
Jason Woelfel Same. Really brought me back.
I was so happy that they did that. Mike kept his promise to 11
Jason Woelfel for the cliffhanger made me so annoyed i wanted todie
Totally agree, Dustin and Steve are the best characters. I was thinking that exact same thing while watching. I can totally see them being great comedic actors in the future. Steve in particular has fantastically subtle reactions.
I will say, however, that the two new (brother and sister) characters lacked a lot of depth. Might be because I'm a 90's guy but I needed a little more out of them. I was expecting more and it totally let me down there.
Will is the best
Dustin and Steve were the breakout stars this episode.
The only things I didn't like were the randomness of episode 7 and how everything went back to normal at the end, the exact same way the first season ended.
i agree the acting was better in season 2.
I agree with all that you're saying. But TRUST ME 90% of the people who actually watched both seasons like season 2 alot more.
Bill I Did Not Bang That Woman Clinton I loved season one but with Steve and Dustin season two is definitely my favorite
I loved season 2 better as well. I loved that they gave will an in-depth story.
@@struggleryoutube not at all. Most people say season 2 was a drag. Season 1 and 3 are by far the best
No Suicide Squad in season 3 and no more special powered kids leave a like if you agree let duffer brothers know
They heard you I guess lol
That intro was very impressive.
Matthew Bubulka a
Didn't like the first half of the season as much as the first but I thought it ended stronger than the first season.
Yeah once Will gets burned by the fire shit gets intense.
We all know the real hero of the story:
DART. RIP.
and saved who?
Vason Joorhees well he didnt kill any group members does that count
barbara never killed anyone but wasn't counted as a hero lol ^^
He kill meadows . Fuck him
Bob****
episode 7 pissed me off because it reminded me of chappie
OMG IT DOES REMIND ME OF CHAPPIE
I thought chappie was pretty cool
So, because there's some Punks living in an Old Warehouse, thst reminds you of Chappie?
yep
Gio bandito
But.. Chappie was great..
Never clicked a video so fast in my life. Also Dope intro Joe!
TheRageManT same! I love stranger things!
You knew him as "Bob", but I knew him as "Samwise Gamgee"
008 looks like a trash version of sombra
Except sombra is trash
8 is still better at invisibility.
She's sexy, but then again I have a thing for Indian women 🤣
^ Indian women are beautifuI (a Iot of them)
(not really talking about the one from episode 7 tho haha / I have other examples / faces in mind)
Madooka Magooka agreed I hate that bitch
I hated Mike in season 2 I just wished he would shut up or leave the whole time
Preston Garvey ya he became the new lucas from season one lol
They called him emo mike. He's gonna be way better in s3 don't worry.
He was so good with Will though!
he was just sort of there in season 2
I found the dynamic of Hopper and Eleven's rapidly disintegrating situation heartbreaking, and really well done. In that scene both characters are in the wrong, in different ways, and yet for both of them you can completely understand why they're behaving like that.
Steve is MVP of season 2
Daniel Thorne Bille and Bob!
Yes and Bob :D
steve is my new favourite character
I wish the big monster was a physical thing rather than a shadow.that is the main thing that disappointed me
Yeah I'm not really a big fan of shadow things, but this one was acceptable for me.
PyroManiacProductions Productions exactly!
Maybe it'll take a more physical form in the following seasons as it's clearly not the last we've seen of it.
Ben Casey ya thats what im hoping. And also hes right jonathon was boring this season. They gotta make him cooler next season
BloodyBatons yeah sadly Jonathan's whole arc this season was getting with Nancy. When you've got so many decent characters to develop in a season some have to go in the background. This season that was pretty much Jonathan, Nancy and even Eleven and Mike for the most part of the season.
Personally I liked season 2 better
came here to see if the big guy hated it
Dan Nardi annnd he did. And when asked what specific issue he didn't like, he starts "Ermm, I mean... I mean..." and then reiterates Joe's issues with it.
Dude has no clue or can't articulate what made him not like movies.
eight's not hate, bro.
He said barely a 8 but doesn't elaborate on his "problems" of the show other than what the two Joe's state. He doesn't know how to be a informed critic. Really, the music?? The music is still great.
season 2 episode 7 man, just terrible
The Burger King or it's setting up a spinoff
Hi random person scrolling through the comments.
Pool of Radiance hi. Have a great day
Hello, enjoy the rest of your day xoxoxox
G-day mate. Have a great day. Cheers from STRAYA.
Pool of Radiance fuck you
hi bud
Like if bob was you’re favorite character
* * hate his death
My prediction and hope for season. 3:
Steve didn't get accepted to collage due to horrible essay mentioned in the first season so stays in town and starts looking for career opportunities. He is Hoppers new deputy.
I loved episode 7 ... L meeting her sister was awesome and her saying "bitchin'" was hilarious.
I think Season 1’s smaller scale made for a better story, but I do think Season 2 was good enough to hold a candle. I just hope Season 3 was twice as long
Billy is a walking bully stereotype
Ian with a sprinkle of unspoken racism and you have someone everyone is supposed to hate
Ian he's an 80s villian through and through, and i loved it
He's clearly the next guy to turn good. He's also obviously a closeted homosexual.
God Emperor The last point I agree with but I don't think he'll turn good. I don't think he's redeemable
That's the point. The entire show is one giant 80's stereotype.
Duke of Demons i thought he was going to be a spy, he went out like a hero tho
I though mikes role was a bit short I love that character and he didn’t do much
Character rankings:
1. Hopper
2. Dustin
3. Steve
4. Bob
5. Eleven
6. Mike
7. Lucas
8. Billy
9. Karen
10. Will
11. Joyce
I'm a little on the fence about Will on this list. One side of me thinks he doesn't do anything to make you really like him, he's just the kid who's in danger again, but then another part of me thinks that Noah portrayed Will so brilliantly that I just want to rank him higher.
govols2214 I think Mike should be 11 he didn't do much in season 2.
*1. Dustin*
Steve and hopper are my favourite characters
Marshall aleks Steve, Bob, Max and Dustin are the best!
Marshall aleks and bob
Man Neflix deserves an Oscar or something. Such an amazing series.
Craig 4rmFriday netflix didn’t make it lol. The duffer brothers are to credit here.
Emmy*
Craig 4rmFriday You mean Emmy
Craig 4rmFriday Netflix? Not the Duffers? Or like, basically the entire cast?
John Smith you know what I mean dammit lol
Nobody noticed that the 2 seasons are EXACTLY the same?
Something is weird, the characters are separated in groups at first and find out different things, then they meet and put it all together, eleven beats the monster and happy ever after... Acting is extraordinary but I'm not looking forward to S3 at all...
alexa shiv haha I thought the same thing. But I kind like when they all connect the dots as I anticipate that. Kind of some suspense
Mike's mom = BEST GRILL!!!
SOO HAWT!!!!
"Go buy some taste kid"
How about, instead of using insults to compensate for your lack of an ability to formulate a real argument, you go and post a link of real, formulated criticisms of Episode 7.
there is a reason why ep7 gets so much heat, its not about the progress or closure 11 gets it how the overal feel is of the episode, its out of place with the season and messes with the flow of it.
the side kicks of 8 were really awe full and on the nose. there are a lot of thins mis with this episode that just could have done better.
as for the kid acting out, they have been trough a trauma and working things out, they are teens and probably with a form of ptsd and what not. so them lashing out (like the table convo with mike and his dad) seems reasonable to me.
Matthew Otalvaro whatever lame excuse works, most arguments made against the episode are beyond flawed anyway...
It's the 80s , don't need condoms
you clearly have never lived in the 80s kid. It's a funny play on words don't overthink it.
lmao
He better have had good pull out lmao
Watching this after season 3 is interesting
Itz_juliannn yeah it is
especially their predictions...
JOE!! PLEASE do the Battlefront 2 review before black friday! On your review depends whether I buy an Xbox One or not! THANK YOU for your restless fight against the bullshit of the gaming industry!
EDIT: I doubt you will, you might not want to rush through it, if thats the case then I understand :)
sw bf2 is p2w trash dont support it
SolarFury, why do you think Ill wait for Joe's review? Dumbass... Who says Im supporting it? Besides, I read they fixed the Loot crates, the ones you buy with real money do not contain cards of the highest rarity. I'll wait to see if it's true.
SolarFury just stop being ignorant already....
Season 1 is 10 out of 10, Season 2 is 9 out of 10.
I loved the strong callback to Aliens with everyone looking at the blipping radar and all the dots surrounding the people in the Upside Down.
Bob’s death was so unacceptable.
Jose Guilarte It made me think the Demodogs really must have hated Lord of The Rings or something. They went overboard with that scene.
Fuck you, your peace of spoiling shit. Please burn in hell
Jose Guilarte yo momma is unacceptable
axel Munthe dont watch videos about a show you haven't yet.. haha jesus.
ikr samwise is ded!!
nooooo
*ALEX IS BACK!!! OH HELL YES! OH MY ACHING HEART!*
I'm so in love it hurts :D
What makes you so fascinated with this organic being?
Organic? He's orgasmic! haha
He's tall, dark, handsome, beard, big arms, seems nice...I don't really know...just crushing so hard!
Satyasya Satyasya gay
Episode 7 of season 2 was garbage.
No shit Sherlock
Awesome video joe, I especially liked your themed intro! Waited eagerly to hear ya'lls opinions, and hopefully it will be the same when Season 3 hits!
I guess Steve put up a good fight, after all he was fighting a Perm-a-Ranger!
Season 2 was a work of art! Loved every minute of it!
Same!!
I liked everything except episode 7.
All Things Wildlife Of course you would say that.
Kartik Punna that episode sucked. But the rest of the season was perfect. Without episode 7 season 2 would have been better than season 1.
I see ep.7 as a very important episode. It gives potential to build more seasons plus it made ell stronger, determined, controlled and focused.
I get why michael was upset all season, doesn't change the fact he was annoying as hell. I hated whenever he was on screen
Magic the Greatening this is so relatable
:) I kinda liked 7th "bottle" episode - cheesy as it is - it reminded me of Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and 4 somehow, please don't hate Me ;)
I really like Alex, he is more critical than Joe or OJ and knows how to voice his concerns. If you're reading this Alex, thumbs up to you!
He is a little bit annoying sometimes though
Really? When Joe asked him what he thinks has issues, he just reiterates Joe's points. He talks a lot of abstract and little detail.
A lot of Joe fans hate him because he's not super excited about everything.
Agreed. Alex doesn't let hype over inflate his scores.
Which one is which?
We didn’t deserve Bob
Well it would be weird if she lived with Mike considering they're romantically involved
Yea but I still feel like that would be better.
Evan I dissagree with almost everything you said.
I'd love to see your stranger things series, if it's that easy.. when's it coming out ?
First 4 episodes of the first season were fucking epic
So we’re 5,6,8 and 9
Joe's game reviews are better. His movie reviews are entertaining, but off... I get that opinions are just that, but he doesn't seem to have a solid base for reviewing films. It's frustrating.
I'd say you nailed the hammer on the head
BEFOR I WATCH: THIS SEASON HAD AMAZING VISUALS ITS JUST GOT A LITTLE CRINGEY AT SOME POINTS
It's a show mostly about young kids cringe is expected.
I know but like you would think it would be a lot more cringey than it actually was
Unpopular opinion: I think season 2 was better and I really liked epidode 7, finally some good Eleven backstory! Season 3 is looking great!
Mindhunter please
Im Team Dancy = Dustin and Nancy xD
Bruce Doyle oh dats nasty
Be Logical Not really. They're only a few years apart. It is only weird when they are kids.
I preferred season 2 over 1, eleven was my least favourite character so I was glad she was put at the back, and I prefer seeing more of the upside down and spooky creatures,
Dan Lodder more spoopy is better
Wait a second!!! U know that they had a battery in the upside down. Well when they closed the portal how come the power didn't go off if that would've cut off the power.!!! Oh my god holy shit
Conor Kirwan what power? Did i missed something?
Conor Kirwan what? The upside down is just a mirror dimension.
