  • The lightweight trailer scene is growing rapidly. Does the tent trailer still have a place? I think it's still the leader of the pack! Check out this trailer and more at Lyle Bongard's CRC RV Center in Fredericton New Brunswick! www.crcbongard...

    Yeah looking at the closeups of the bunk ends, not much has changed since the 80's. Even the tongue mounted accessories box and layout is the same.
    But, you're right about fuel economy.

      Thats the thing that interests me about the industry. There was a time of innovation in the industry, but I would argue that innovation just stopped in too many ways. Most of what is going on in the industry is very reminiscent of many decades ago. I feel like if the innovators of 40 and 50 (or more) years ago had access to the technologies of today, we would have seen a lot of innovation that we just aren't seeing today.
      However, I stand by what I said, without the innovation, people overlook how great these units accomplish what people want compared to many competitive units.

    Suggestion for all the camper manufacturers, regarding the stoves/ranges: build into the cover one or two induction units. They're much cheaper to run and, in most cases, cook just as well or better, absolutely fantastic for quickly heating any quantity of water, be it soup or for laundry. While you could replace some of the gas burners, putting the induction units into the cover permits the user to have both types-and depending on design (read: socket the power source), possibly put it in another location to cook at the same time, or just use as a portable counter.
    Heck, add a cutting board on the flip side of the induction units, or as a second cover, all clicking together. It seems an elegant solution to adding utility options.

      i believe induction uses many more amps than normal electric which would drain a battery real quick,

      @@sisterssmp4994 Most run off a standard 15A residential circuit. Kitchen outlets are usually 20A. But yes , they still use a lot of watts and would drain a battery quickly... I take my portable induction cooktop only when I have electrical at my campsite.

    For an ultra light camper trailer that still offers full headroom, you must check out the Sylvansport GO and its peripherals. I've had mine since 2018 and I still love it. At 840 pounds dry weight, practically any car rated for towing will manage it easily. As well as being a tent trailer, it is also a gear and toy hauler.

    Been going back and forth between a new or used pop up. Personally we only cook inside when absolutely necessary. The sink and burners aren’t a must for us I’d rather increase storage. Also the table always looks like an uncomfortable addition. New or used I’d probably leave it at home. We have a portable table we use and love. I do love the bench seating. More family friendly and the awning I wish we could have seen because that sounds like a feature we would use a lot. Since right now we have a tall pop up screen tent that we use for our cooking area. I do like the better tires as you are right in true off grid areas you want tires that will handle the trek. This gave me a ton to think on.

    hey Peter! sweet presentation, so im thinking of down sizing to this model, question what watt is the solar panel and inverter are on the 2024 unit? and last question is,is it enough to run heated beds? i was told they would, thanks!

    Wish they had an option for independent suspension and an articulating hitch for the overland scene. The MDC pop ups are a much better choice for that.

  • @felishagathright4013
    @felishagathright4013 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

    The pop up camper market needs to look at the off road forward fold campers. I'm not going to be cooking inside any tent camper. Put the kitchen outside with awning that has wall options.

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @felishagathright4013 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @AbundantAdventures I like the OP2. Decent storage, outside kitchen, & shower is accessible from annex.

    • @AbundantAdventures
      @AbundantAdventures 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @felishagathright4013 yeah. They do a great job but unfortunately it's overkill and more importantly over priced for a canvas tent on wheels.
      Don't get me wrong, thing is awesome and I want one but 35 thousand for something that can get holes in it or easily leak over years of use is just too much money IMO.
      If I got use out of the extreme off road capabilities it had I could justify it, but unfortunately I'm looking for semi off road capable but nothing as advanced as they have on it.

    You never tell people about the times when it's pouring down rain and you have to set it up or pouring rain and you need to close up camp.. pop-ups are nice but you sales people need to be completely honest with people...... Even if it means YOU loosing a sale.........

    • @PeterLoweOne

      I’m not a salesperson. I don’t work for the dealer. And let’s be really honest. People are smart. They understand that when it rains, things get wet. That’s literally what you’re asking me to put in this video. If you want to make unwatchable content, you make content that speaks down to an audience. If I have to cover the laws of nature with my audience, I won’t have an audience.

    Do they make these types of trailers that only have 1 pullout? Is that a thing?
    I am solo and the 2nd pullout would be wasted space & more excessive heat/ac loss..

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I've seen them, but they're very rare. I'm not sure who may still make that design today. The ones that I've seen are usually the very low end of the market. They may not be available with all the features of this trailer. They're designed to be inexpensive and lightweight alternatives.

    • @Bizarb
      @Bizarb 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I just looked them up on TH-cam.. Clipper sport has only one pullout, but it looks pretty slim selection. 4 season would be a cool option too. I have never considered a popup camper. Always liked the teardrops. But these things look more and more appealing. @@PeterLoweOne

    Hard to believe the manufacture still uses the same roof height section requiring to have to sleep on an inferior mattress and remove most of your bedding to close the top. Simple fix, add 6” of height to the roof.
