Shimano SLX 12x1 with the XT shifter, it climbs mountain trails all day long and to stop I use Shimano SLX 4 piston brakes which clamp down hard onto the Shimano 203mm RT-MT800 rotors, which comfortably bring a 250lb ogre to a stop regardless of how steep the trail ....Yeah I'm a fanboy and wont be changing anytime soon

I had to rewind your statement about Shimano not having technical issues, because I could not believe what I heard! Has the crank issue on Ultegra and Dura Ace been forgotten so quickly? What about shops losing shimano support for speaking publicly about it? Did you also get a gag order?

@@ukrytykrytyk8477 hey thanks for watching and the comments. All of our content is from personal experience both as a bike mechanic for over 16 years and a life long cyclist. We have very little issues with Shimano products, we did not get involved in the crank inspections and we just love their brands. The joy of being an independent business is no one holds a gun to our head. Nor would we go around bad mouthing a company that supports both us and our customers.

Everyone goes on about the SRAM transmission stuff. I've never tried it, but it would have to be unbelievably good to make me want to give up my Shimano group set and charge batteries all the time.

@@peterknight7880 thanks for watching. There have been a few times in the past 20 years where SRAM products have had a real push but these periods have been short lived and whilst it’s great that everyone at the higher end is hyped about their products, Shimano offer a better consistent range and have done for decades

Shimano mechanical 3x8 and 2x9 is/was peak technology, longevity, durabilty, and price.
    1x11 on full on mtb's...
    Everything since is marketing BS.
Electronics on bicycles - i won't even go there.

Shimano parts are good, I agree too. But unfortunately they come without any manual/ instruction other than a fancy CR code and a vague website. At least I don't understand nothing of it.
They do that to "save paper", says a big paper in all languages. So I put all their parts on intuïtion or with the info I have to look for on TH-cam, in videos of random hobbyists.
But the quality of the parts themselves is good.

Unless you have 11 speed mechanical. Good luck getting those parts. Broke my dura ace shifter, none available, and as of now, Shimano not making anymore. Dog the others all you want, Shimano sucks as well!

You are right and it is frustrating but unfortunately this is an industry wide problem. Hopefully it might change in the future (like if they stick with CUES).
