- Autumn is here! The days are cooler and shorter and I'm almost looking forward to the first hard frost, which will mean the season is over. Considering it is nearly October, there are still a dazzling array of flowers to be harvested. I am absolutely thrilled that the alstroemeria I started from seed this spring is beginning to bloom! The zinnias are getting taken over by mildew, and there is always plenty more to do on a farm.
Shrubsteppe Blooms is a specialty cut flower farm and native plant nursery. We live and grow in Yakima County in south central Washington state, zone 6b/7a.
