    And the charging current was NOT referring to the AC current. It was referring to DC current and that's why I posted the settings page in the video to avoid confusion.

      I think the 30 amp setting is from the grid not the battery amps. so 240 x 30=7200watts. 7200/48=150 amps to battery. Just an idea.

      @WillProwse  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@rodneyhunt yes I thought that too, that's why I posted the manual to show that it's the DC battery charging amperage setting. Not ac input. I thought what you thought right after I had the 30A breaker flip.

      I have an epever upower HI series all in one inverter (3000 or 5000), i have the 3000. Its a pretty good inverter and cost me £550 which is very cheap. Only downside is no scheduled charging from grid and lack of any bluetooth. So i use a shunt (junctek 140f) and contacts to turn on and off charging at cheap rate via wifi smart plug. Would be a good one to review.. Best for the money imo, i looked at them all.

      I don't think I'm going to be able to do this I just bought a 6500 from sungold I should have did a lot more investigating it's only 110 output also. I'm just a beginner I built a pretty decent little 12 volt system but now I'm trying to go 48 volt. I already made mistakes. Not looking in enough videos and then purchasing things thinking that I took two weeks investigating I needed to take 2 months investigating. And watching more TH-cam. Facebook stuff doesn't work they don't give you the right info. I love these videos from this young man he's so smart. Maybe I'll get lucky and he has a video of the inverter charger that I bought or one very similar. I don't even know how to hook it up

      While this device is beyond my current needs, generally, I'm willing to deal with programming difficulties if the product will eventually work properly. After all, programming is usually not altered often once accomplished. The uncontrolled DC charging output I find very concerning. At best, it might trip a BMS or a fuse. I don't like to think about the worst case scenario. But such an issue would render the device completely useless to me.

  • @Vigo327
    @Vigo327 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Maybe not fun for you but situations like this are sort of best case scenario in terms of the value of your 'product' as a reviewer because it has the potential to avert a huge amount of frustration among your viewers, and beyond. By word of mouth, their combined reach is probably pretty massive and im sure yours and their influence on the entire population of first time buyers is notable. I think people who assemble or repair things for a living will just take this for what it is and wait for a positive update, but to have a cantankerous product like this end up in the hands of a true newbie runs the risk of derailing someone's entire interest in the subject. Impossible to assess stuff like this from an online spec sheet. Your work is very much appreciated!!

    They need to make the controllers able to be configured in a computer, then transferred to the inverter as a data stream.

      They need to use a standard dot matrix screen and do a proper menu interface, with mechanical buttons.
      gimme a column of buttons (5 at least) on the left to pick menu options.
      HOME, ENTER, CANCEL, UP and DOWN along the bottom of the display.

    love your channel and content. one question I always had, why do you not address any AC-couple solar setups? They are much friendlier on the solar side of the installation, and with more standards coming out like frequency watt control they are quite adaptable for grid tie and grid down use cases. One candidate im interested in seeing a tear down of is Outback's Mojave inverter.
    I say all this having seen your channel for so long, and owning 2x LV2424 for like 6 years.

    I love the 240v split phase output option and up to 600 vdc PV inputs x 2 (... evolution of improvements). I wonder if connecting to grid at setup might help it calibrate the auto sensing 50 mhz vs 60 mhz ... into an possibly an easier set up? ... Could this be a great all in one ... after you dial it in over more time? ... Would love getting a second review after you test run this unit for a month, after you and/or manufacturer get it dialed in. Just some thoughts. ... Love your reviews. I am gonna watch DIYSolarForum chats about this model, in my learning more all the time mode ;+)

    I was excited about your last 2 videos as I am looking for a more cost effective solution for Grid Interactive than Sol-Ark that will also work with a large Nickel Iron Battery I just bought. These 2 units were high on my list of capabilities on paper but if you can't get it to function as it should I am not sure what hope I have. The third option I am looking at is the Schneider Conext XW PRO 6.8KW Hybrid Inverter/Charger | 48V 120/240V. Its a bit pricier and I am not sure if it supports sending power back to the grid. I have my Interconnect Agreement right now with Solaredge but I am trying to figure out the best way to AC Couple another inverter that will allow me to use a 48V 1200aH Nickel Iron Battery. My main goal is to make it through the night with import. I have already cut my electric bill in half my goal is to get it to 0 or as close as I can. Keep up the good work.

    Hi Will,
    You have some terrific content.
    Do you have any MTBF (Meantime before failure) ratings for the equipment (inverters, automatic transfer switches, etc) that you are demonstrating?
    I am going to put together my own system based on my requirements (the all-in-one systems do not meet my requirements), and there are alot of moving parts (well electronic, that is). Being that many of the components are manufactured in China, are they reliable? That is, do I need to source spare component equipment incase of failure to ensure that I can get the same parts for drop in replacement?
    My main requirement is for home power outages (8KW, 120Vac, 60amp - 70amp max)
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Will, I have the inverter with the same screen.
    Did you limit the Total Input current in 02 section (solar + utility)?
    Looks like you’ve limited the Utility current only w/o solar, thats why the unlimited current moved to the battery due to hight solar power at that moment. Could this be the reason?

  • @kd7alt
    @kd7alt ปีที่แล้ว

    I believe the setting for dc charging from ac mains said 60 amp max that means you can pull 60 amps tomorrow the mains input to use for charging. Try turning it down to 20 amps. Should reduce the output to around 80 amps.

    Thx for informative video.
    At 1st glance, considering price and capability, I was very interested.
    After seeing this vid, The EG4 12K may be the best option.
    I doubt these companies even have software engineers.
    Most likely, they use the generic software from the component maker.
    If you have your equipment anywhere close to where you live or sleep, noise is a major issue.
    If you get frustrated easily, a good software menu is worth the money.

      A submersible pump in a bucket of water is an easy way to add a substantial inductive load to an inverter...

    • @Keifsanderson
      @Keifsanderson ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Techa-lo2dc That's a good idea. And sump pumps are definitely a critical load for people who require them. I bet the inrush current on a 1/2 horse pump will shut down most of these cheap all-in-one Inverter/chargers.

    • @Keifsanderson
      @Keifsanderson ปีที่แล้ว

      @@busimagen I would guess a well pump would pull more. At least the "deep" well variety. Higher horsepower. I don't have a sump pump anymore, but I measured my 240v well pump to require 35 amps on startup, and then 10 amps to run.

    • @Techa-lo2dc
      @Techa-lo2dc ปีที่แล้ว

      @@busimagen Well pumps come in two main types - single speed and variable speed. The single speed pumps are just like sump pumps, they have a big in-rush current on startup. The starting current is proportional to the running current, often about 4x the running current, but it can be more than that. Variable speed pumps have an inverter built into the motor or the controller. They don't have a large starting current but they can have an in-rush current when you first apply power to the inverter as it charges up the capacitors. I've never seen a variable speed pump running on one of these solar inverters...
