Now you need to build a 2-story tower on your property so you can see all of your property and put cameras on it and at night you can sit on top of it and chill out and run electricity to it also.
Love the whole homestead updates you do. Congrats on everything you have done.
I got the Sungold 10k inverter you have, it’s a pretty awesome machine. I ran it without batteries for awhile but ended up adding the SG Powerwall, system runs a lot better with a battery, and no more error codes
Hi! I bought one of those but mine it's not working properly 😢. I have 1 PV array of 2500 watts. Do I need 2 PV ARRAYS?
How did you get county approval? I cannot find a master electrician to seal the system for safety. All electrical companies are too scared to touch the system
Wow!! You explain everything so well. Inverter setups were always intimidating but you explained it so well.. thank you!!!
I just installed exactly half of that controller in my motorhome, a 5,000 watt Sungold Power all-in-one unit. So far it's working fine. If you need technical help send them an e-mail and they will e-mail you back within a day. It was easy to install and configure. It is much less complicated and lots cheaper than going with separate components, like say a Victron system. Not only do you have 4 options to choose from to set the output mode priority, but you have 4 options for the Charging mode too. There are also 62 parameters that can be set to the user's preference, from battery chemistry and voltage to charge settings. It even has an eco-mode that reduce power consumption by half when not in use, say at night.
That's an impressive piece of solar tech, wow!! Loved the night lapse!
Great explanation on the system. Easy to understand control panel (with icons, etc.). Great system.
Peace & quiet. What a wonderful place to call your own.
From my experiences with all 4 of our kids sleeping like a baby meant waking up every two hours screaming like crazy and crying needing to be fed . LOL The place is coming along great Eric . I dig it !
I can’t even imagine. I’ve never understood how all 3 of my daughters immediately slept through the entire night from day 1. We’d wake them up to eat lol.
🤣😂😅
You guys stay Groovy now .✌😁
Fantastic setup Eric. I can see why you love your property and surrounding areas. Great choice.
This is outstanding news and I'm so impressed with the future of where solar is going. I'm also impressed with all the strides and improvements you've made on your property, keep going, Eric. A faithful follower.
Hi Eric. Just a few miles from CVK, and yes, absolutely peaceful and quiet. And the stars!! My husband and I keep saying this is the best campsite ever!! Love your solar setup.
I am also a few miles from CVK/DOR/CC.
The crescent moon last few nights too. :) :) :)
Nice going Eric! Keep showing us how it all works and develops.
I checked out the Sun Gold Power website and the unit you are using is impressive. There 2 issues for you to correct. Your security system should have a direct feed to it, rather than tie it with the other outlets that could trip and take down your security system. The second is the orange wire between the inverter and electrical panel is too small and unprotected. A #6 wire and 60 amp breaker to protect it would be a better setup.
Thanks for the tips!
I was going to go with Signature Solar one of their EG's but reading the customer service problems on DIY solar forum going to pass. Sungold looks like a good deal. I wanted to cool a shed with a small window AC unit I found out the advertised 350 watts was under best conditions when it's 119F out 5000 BTU window unit drew 980 watts. I had a standalone charger and inverter no way for it to kick over to utility power. Looks like I need an all-in-one unit and add 3 more 12V lithium 100 AH batteries to get 48V needed. Probably add some extra panels Santan still has the 285's I have up there now.
I saw another solar install guy said he passed a city inspection he had romax exposed like Eric's setup does. I did some reading says NEC allows romax to be run through hole in the center of exposed framing it cannot be attached across the front facing studs. Looking at the video that seems to be the case way they installed the romax without conduit. Personally, I like conduit looks cleaner instead of stapled wires. I agree with the alarm having its own breaker.
@@nomadicfanatichi how you sungold set up is doing right now it’s a good ?
What a great piece of equipment, Eric. I learned something today.
Very neat system. Basecamp has come a long ways in a short time. Beautiful night sky!😉
Hey Eric, just for your edification, all solar systems, that I know of do take the sun and run the house with it even if you don’t have batteries. A grid Tied system does that as well. Nonetheless, I happen to have a solar system that has been running for 11 years and the gateway by Tesla that then charges three Tesla battery pack power walls with the excess power and also runs the house. Don’t know what you plan on getting for batteries, but size does matter.
Wondering basic things about the solar array of panels. What protection is planned for the panels if it should hail? Thank you.
You'll get a much better price for the exact same inverter design (same design, same parts, same warranty, same manufacturer) by purchasing a Sigineer Power 10,000W 48V split phase pure sine wave inverter charger. Both Sungold Power and Sigineer Power are made by the same manufacturer, but the Sigineer Power inverter cost's far less.
Thanks for sharing your solar knowledge. I’m looking into building a carport with solar panels on the roof for my camping trailer. That all-in-one unit simplifies things for a beginner like me.
I’m with you-the more information I receive on solar the less I know! However, this system from Sun Gold seems like a real game changer! Thanks for this great information! Take care!
Great time lapse thanks for sharing❤❤❤❤
Looks like the solar set up is coming along nicely. Keep the good stuff coming buddy.
What type of wind can the panels withstand? I assume you get wind storms there in the desert?
Great video, I was thinking about using an all in one for my next solar project. By the way, I am the one who met you at the world’s smallest harbor in Oregon back in August.
All good I would have 2 - 30 amp plugs and one 50 amp. only using the 50 amp if both 30 amps are not in use. look into that great video
Eric, your homestead set up is absolutely AWESOME!!!!!
Cheers cheers bud looking good !!!!!!!!!!!!!
In Parallel volage is the same. In Series, the voltage adds up. So 4 12v batteries in parallel output is 12v. (+ to +, - to - across the batteries) In series, would be 48v (+ to - across the batteries) So Parallel = Same Vdc. Series = add Vdcs.
Eric great video...we have reached out to them about services in Eastern Canada. Thanks for everything you do...Stuart and Missy...
I have this inverter, it is an absolute monster
Great video. Learned a lot. Beautiful time lapse at night. ❤️🥰❤️ love to you and the kitties.
hey Eric that's awesome man super simple and easy
Do you have to insulate that room? Or does the heat cold matter? And lastly do you think you will have a sleeping cabin down the road? Kind of like CVK.
Make absolutely sure you keep your panels a clean as humanely possible as dust, birds, and clouds are not your friends! A major power company in our area recently set up a fifty-acre solar panel farm to power forty streetlights (not enough power is generated by all those panels to power any of the homes or small businesses in the area). The power company also had to hire a bunch of people to keep all those panels clear of dust and bird poop.
That must be a POOR design... I have enough powers on my ROOF to power my entire property (house, offices and media studios) in West Africa with SEVERAL Airconditioners and music amplifiers.
Im me tioning West Acrica because the need for air conditioning (on everyday and also overnight) more than balances out the extra sunlinght we get compared to colder climates. So they have an entire acre of solar farm, Im shocked they cant put a dent in residential home demand
Eric love that set up you have what a difference. 👀Kisses and hugs to the kitties.😍🤗😘
Your Solar System Power Is very very very very very Cool 😎 Eric 😎😊👍
Proud of you Eric. What an evolution from the beginnings on TH-cam! You deserve it bro, one of the hardest working TH-cam creators on the platform. 10 years no quitting is some dedication and I'm proud to have watched you grow along this journey! Excited for what is next up for you bro!
I appreciate that!
Eric, why does the sungold show only volts for input? Volts mean almost nothing when it comes to power production, what I want to see is WATTS!! Please tell me the Sungold lets you know how many watts you are getting from the solar panels. Sheesh.
No it doesn’t it does KW on unit, also the app they use does not collect the data from second PV input, and also out put L2/H2 and battery negative line. So app will NOT PROVIDE correct data.
Very cool!!!!! This is what we have been waiting for. Thanks
That's totally fantastic, Eric. I'm so happy for you, I can't quit smiling.
And by the way, welcome to the Sungold family. I've got their 24 volt 3000 watt all in one. I'm going to be
Upgrading to the 48 volt 6500 unit. I'm going to have a bit over 3000 watts of solar on my mobile abode. I know it's pretty presumptuous of me, but i really can't wait to see your property. It's coming along very nicely. Man, I can't wait to buy my property there. OK Eric, have fun and enjoy your new home.
How you wire to the electric box from the inverter ,( what kind of able are using) i have solar kit of 8000w 48vdc 120v/240v
Really like the homestead vids. Keep them up.
12:15 Heyyy whys the Colonel down?? 🍗 🐓 or did you find a 2nd sign? 🤔😆💕👍
Keeps getting better and better at camp
Really super setup Eric. Plenty of power now.
Thank you!!!
series add up voltage parallel add up amperes yes we know is confusing sometimes 😂
Can't you just get 1 Roy Pow 48 V battery that is now in many lithium golf cart systems ?
Saving this video for when I do mine! Thanks
This looks like quite the system!
If that's a 48v system, be really careful. One zap is all it would need to make you sleeeeeeeepy.
48 volts will KILL you, fixed it for you :)
Great video
Well I was going to dodge this because I really don't have a need or interest in solar at this time.
Not to worry I was going to give it a thumbs up anyway. But I did watch it and learned something I had no interest in. So learned something pretty darn interesting.
Ty Eric
Hello, I am converting a mercedes sprinter into a food truck. I have the same inverter but the 8kw all-in-one. it calls for breakers for the pv-in and the ac-in and ac-out, that i don't see on your install. i get confused on the ac-out which calls for a 3p 63a breaker but then i get lost trying to go from there to a the breaker panel. i assume it should be a 60A main breaker but i don't see any panels built that way and will it be 2p or 3p for split phase...please help
Things are really good. So happy for you!
Hey nomadic fanatic, could wind get under your solar system and lift it up? Felix says there’s a lot of wind up there, something to think about.
awesome setup. Thanks Don
Great video Eric. That is a cool setup.
I cannot find a master electrician to seal the solar design. The county needs that seal. No electrician is willing to work on the solar kit. It’s frustrating
I have the same unit. I’m going to try using another company called Solar assistant for pi in order to collect data. The SmartESS app WILL NOT get data from any second leg. The means PV 2 and battery negative and L2/HOT 2 will NOT be read from there app. So you have to kind of double the data in the app to track the data. That’s assuming the house is perfectly balanced. Just some info for all you if you want to track your data and KW.
Looks pretty cool. Your camp looks so pretty at night too.
I went to Solar Power's website but didn't see the model you have Eric. What's the model #?
We have a sungold system but havent been able to get it all the way connected. Were kind of stuck. Anyone know someone that can help us?!! We're in southwest Michigan
I love your time lapse videos, especially the night time videos!
GOOD MORNING BEAST NOMADIC FANTASTIC ERIC JAX TH-cam VIDEO 🐈🐈
Most inverter systems, especially ones termed hybrid, will run without batteries, and automatically switch to AC Line Input from the utility company when the solar panels no longer supply enough power to produce enough power, and will while doing that the system box will supply excess power back to the line meter (turning it backwards) with your excess generated solar power. Off grid and non-hybrid type solar inverter boxes don't necessarily do this. This is where the true savings and math come into play to determine if you produce enough total power to be worth it to buy and add batteries, as batteries and the related hardware are expensive and may not be worth having if you are already supplying enough to have a low-low power bill at night when the batteries would necessarily be there to supply power to the system. If you are running a dedicated off-grid system because batteries are what extend your power to night time charge to give you AC power.
Youre right. Only issue is when you start up a heavy load (eg Air Conditioner compressor, water heating, iron, electricity cooker, micrwave, etc... athe immediate pull will happen quicker than your MPPT can react to pull more power.
Also if the sun goes behind a cloud while a heavy load is on... In both scenarios the inverter will trip out
Mega cool! I think I understood that!😏🤪😁
👍
Looking good one step to freedom
Eric , I can honestly say that you are not like everyone else.
Looks fantastic glad your happy
With the GFCI outlet outside, are we to assume that it also protects that inside outlet? Wouldn't that hypothetically allow someone outside to trip the GFCI, and then cut power to the inside of Babe the Blue Box? (Not an electrician.)
Not in this case. Only the outside GFCI is protected on that 15amp circuit. Darrell told me why, but I forgot. Might be the wiring?
Sweet place brotha!
Awesome Setup!
Great video thank you!
Eric? I need some love....
hey Eric can you show us how you set the time laps in the settings and what is the best way to do it for beginners
It's also in my video description with all my other filming info, but for these two shots I shot 4K pictures (30 seconds open) every 30 seconds for about 600 pictures, and then I imported those into Adobe Premeier, speed up and did some ken burns movement for effect, and other color correction.
@@nomadicfanatic oh cool thanks Eric for letting me know that how to do that type of shooting
You weren't there for the bugling?
Educational and informative 👌
Just because you have a 30 amp RV plugged in; does NOT mean you are pulling 30 amps.
Well obviously... It's going to pull what you ask to pull... Up to 30amps
🥰
You're 30 amp wire going to the RV needs a 30 amp breaker in between if there's a problem with the 30 amp wire it may not trip the 50 amp breaker,,ok?
😊
Awesome
Does that device allow you to feed power back to the grid for an energy credit?
Yes, gird tie is the 4th order for my system - not in use now - but does have capability with this model.
Is there a reason you didn't use the solar collectors to shelter your RV or other structure from sun and rain. It appears to me to be a waste of space and a wasted opportunity to do so.
Eric ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺. Tara and Opie ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️, treats and tummy rubs.
Nice
No kitties, Eric...
Have a great day
Looking good Eric!!
Looks good.
The wire from the charge controller to the 50 amp circuit seems a slight bit too small of wire
It's #10 AWG so it will only be rated to 30 Amps. I don't know the output rating of that unit, but it can't be much with only 3000 watts DC. A #12 AWG is rated for 3800 watts AC, add in the loss to convert DC to AC and you might find it isn't producing anywhere near that much power.
@lj33p I think it's 10kw, 3 times your calculations and has surge potential also. There is no 30amp breaker to protect the #10 wire.
grid tied is you supplying ac voltage into the system.
Over my head.
Awesome System!!!!
camp mickey is coming along. we love tator.

Nice to see you❤
