Reminds me of the '89 Jaguar XJS's with the V12s. Except these are probably way quicker than those old jags. The '89 XJS with the v12 that I took for a test drive was a dog, could not get out of its own way.
The 560 drinks, the 380 is kind of nice. Fewer trips to the pump. They're good road cars. But I don't think they're really a sports car. They're like a sedan somebody chop the back seat out of.
They are HORRIBLE on gas. Bought one last summer (and LOVE it,) but an SUV would probably get better mileage. And your are correct. It is anything but a sports car. It drives like a more responsive Cadillac. It's a cruiser.

Agreed. Funny thing: As these things are still quite common in the USA and very rare in Germany, a lot of them got reimported back to Germany in recent years. After the reimport, people spent really big money to get rid of the sealed beam lamps and monster bumpers. Prices for that can go into the five digits. That is how much these lamps and bumpers are hated in Europe :)
Holy Mayonnaise The only problem with the SL is that there is insufficient room for amorous activity with the girlfriend in the backseat. But sadly it was along time ago when I used to think about things like that. And back in those days I could not afford a Benz. The old '88 Topaz used to work just fine. It was Mom's car and I wondered if she noticed Cathee's footprints on the back glass. Those were the days. And they are gone forever. Life has no happy endings, only endings. Memories of youth provide the afterglow before the darkness takes us all away. I would trade 20 years just to live my 16th/17th year all over again.
THey look nice but handle horribly and feel incredibly out of date. The R129 and R230 are better safer cars. It gets draining having such an out of date car for dialy operation. I had a 560 SEC for a little less than a month and yes i loved how it looked and the nostalgia but i couldnt imagine driving it everyday. Its like using a floppy disc when you could use a DVD or SSD
