When I was in the second grade (54 years ago ), My teacher Miss O’Leary would bring in two metal grinders and attach one to each end of a long table. We would grind up fresh cranberries, orange rind and a bit of sugar ! She called it cranberry orange relish ! We would all take turns at the grinder ! We put it in baby food jars and brought it home for our families ! I was a scrawny little thing…didn’t like many foods , but I have to say I loved it ! I can taste it to this day ! Tang from the cranberry and orange rind but a touch of sweet from the sugar ! Some things you never forget ❤
The fresh version is one my wife’s grandma always had on her table. I made it a few day ago. To watch my wife taste it after I was done, her eyes lit up, she smiled, the blew a kiss to her grandma in Heaven. You can’t go wrong. I always put my sugar in the food processor…everybody in the pool at one time. You can’t mess it up. The flavor is so fresh and tasty. I also did a similar cooked version bout used the same ingredients…just supremes the orange, added the sugar, cranberries and a cup of water…then let it cook down for about an hour. Love and Happy Thanksgiving from Callahan, FL. We’re shining for Jesus!
Meme, my mom made this many years ago and it was a time that I actually ate cranberry relish. I don' normally like cranberry anything. I'm still not going to make it but for anybody that likes cranberry sauce, this is a worthy dish to replace the canned stuff you can buy.
My mother discovered the cranberry orange relish recipe on a bag of cranberries years ago and it has become a staple for my Thanksgivings. I've learned over the years that it's also good with a Granny Smith apple added to it (core it, but leave the peel on for another touch of color), and the sugar reduced (I think the original recipe only called for 1 C sugar for the 12 oz bag of cranberries and 1 orange. I love the tartness of cranberries, so have been reducing the sugar gradually over the years. I add about a half cup, stir and taste, and repeat as necessary to get what I like. Your other recipe sounds wonderful - I'll have to try that!
Hi MeMe I’m from Georgia and I’ve been watching your videos most of the day. Both sides of my family love to cook and we cook similar to how you cook. You really throw down in the kitchen on Sunday’s for your family and friends. I know they are grateful to have you.
My mama made one of the best cranberry molds, and it had oranges in it as well. She never left the recipe for her family. Both of your cranberry recipes sound wonderful, and I can't wait to make them. These are both wonderful cranberry salads. I can't wait to try them.
I make the fresh cranberry relish every year except I add an apple when I pulse the orange. It will add a little sweetness so you don’t need as much sugar.
These look really good. I’m actually making cranberry sauce right now. Mine has fresh cranberries, sugar, apple juice, fresh orange juice and zest, and a peeled and chopped Granny Smith apple. Hope it’s good!
That version with the orange is my standard for Thanksgiving and Christmas! I serve it with a sprinkling of walnut. A family favorite. It freezes well, too. Mother loved it, so I always made extra for her to munch on for a long time afterwards. Happy Thanksgiving, MeMe. Most of us really have reason to be thankful every day of the year, but I hope that you and yours are abundantly blessed for our day of celebration!🥰
Good Morning Meme, Yummy, Omygoodness, which one to chose from😊 they both look sooo delicious and i know both smelled wonderful😋 Have A Wonderful And Blessed Thanksgiving 2023❤ You too KK😊
I made you Green Bean Casserole for Thanksgiving. It was delicious. Better than the traditional one, we thought. Thanks for the wonderful recipes, and all you do!!
Oh Ms MeMe and KayKay these two cranberry recipes looks & sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful & blessed Thanksgiving to y’all’s family and also too every that follows you. 🦃🦃🦃
Yum! I just so happen to have 2 bags! The second one I make but I use 1 bag, 1 cup sugar, 1 orange, and 1 peeled and cored apple... HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🦃 I every time I watch you I say along with you, SHINE FOR JESUS! ✨️
Yummy!! These are a must try especially the one you baked in the oven! Definitely adding that one to the table. Thank You for sharing ma'am, God bless you and your family and have a Happy Thanksgiving🍗
I just love these recipes! Do you think I would get the same results mixing the ingredients for the first one a day in advance and baking it on Thanksgiving? Thanks for the video?
Hello and Happy Thanksgiving, I just loved this special video. I am going to try the first one and can only imagine the wonderful smell it will give. Thank you so much!!😊
Yummy! I love cranberry sauces or relishes, they are so good. There also a nice treat to have with a roast chicken or pork for that added holiday feel over the course of winter. Or sautéed chicken breast or pork chops🤤😋 Thank you for sharing these recipes!
I’ve been making that 3 ingredient relish forever. I only use 1 cup of sugar though because the family likes it a little tart. Seeing this video made me smile! ❤
Many, many, years ago, when I was just a newlywed, a friend of my husband's family gave me a similar recipe to the food processor recipe in your video. The only differences were that years ago, cranberries came in one-pound bags, so the recipe calls for a pound of cranberries, 2 cups of sugar, one whole orange, and she added one apple. Seeds and core removed, of course. As you said, it's better to make it a day ahead, always a good idea when there's so much food to get ready! Im sure I'll try the oven recipe, too! I hope you and your family have a very nice Thanksgiving!
I absolutely love anything Cranberry!! Definitely making these Cranberry relish’s!! Question…can I cover the baked one with aluminum foil? I don’t have a baking dish with a cover? Thank you MeMe Happy Thanksgiving too you and your beautiful family Diane Helen 🦃🍁
Looks like awesome recipes mixing it with oranges!! 🍊 We have a cranberry raspberry jello with a sour cream topping for our Thanksgiving cranberry touch!! 🍓 It is such a hit that sometimes it is gone BEFORE my husband's mashed potatoes or pumpkin cheesecake!! 🥔🍰 Both are amazing, too!! 🥰
I made your baked cranberries for our Thanksgiving, doubled the recipe and there wasn't a drop left!! I have now bought your cookbook too. I just love spending time with you and KK
I made the recipe with the orange marmalade and reduced the amount of sugar to 1/2 cup and used pecans because I had them and it was delicious. It really was sweet enough and jellied. Will definitely make again. I made the Cranberry Conserve recipe from the Cotton Country collection for years and will use your recipe from now on!
My mom bought me a copy of your cookbook for Christmas. I'm so excited. We love your videos, especially since you're from Anderson. My mom was born there and we still have family there. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
We just love your cooking. Your recipes are so delicious and easy to make. Please keep it up with other recipes. Do you make homemade spaghetti and meatballs by any chance? That would be great to watch. If there were more people like you on this earth, this world would be a far better place especially with everything happening! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours and may God continue to bless you. Remember, Shine for Jesus 😊✝️🙏
Good Evening MeMe, my mom did a fresh cranberry relish she used frozen raspberries and raspberry jello it was a mold it was delicious i so wish i had her recipe i even asked my sisters but no one has the recipe, I'm going to try yours only swap out the raspberries for the orange thank you for the idea hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving
Oh I was so excited when I saw another MeMe video pop up! 🎉my mother is making the second cranberry relish recipe for Thanksgiving. We just love it! Love from Missouri and Happy Thanksgiving 🙏🏻🦃❤
I have a similar recipe, with a couple of differences. I use a navel orange, which I zest and then peel the orange. I also remove the pith. I also add cinnamon. I eyeball both the zest and cinnamon.
I get to giggling about the 350 degree oven. I've never come across a baked cranberry sauce dish, im going to try this. Question: you said you added 10 more minutes to cooking time. But I don't remember you saying why. I'll go back and watch again. However, in case you didn't say I'll ask "why" 😂😊
