- With Halloween steadily approaching, today we decided to explore one monster that never seems to get the recognition it deserves. So today, we're looking at both films (let's be honest, three and four do NOT count) and digging into what makes them both great in their own way.

Pumpkinhead is honestly one of my favorite horror movies. Love it.
Me too. I absolutely love it.
Such outstanding, and now iconic, creature design!
Completely agree the first two Pumpkinhead films are the best to watch and fun fact: the house the teens stay at in the first movie is Tommy Jarvis' home in Friday the 13th Final Chapter.
Pumpkinhead is a good scary movie. Pumpkinhead 2 Blood Wings. Be careful about getting revenge. No one ever ask about the price. You will pay for using pumpkinhead. I found Blood Wings more sad. Poor Tommy. The son of one of the former pumpkin heads. Neat the Alien Queen was made by the same guy. That made pumpkinhead. A demon of vengeance.
I think one of the best things about the first film is how Pumpkinhead and Ed begin to resemble each other to show off their connection. In the sequel, I think it's how he gets humanized, a victim lashing out with no restraint.
Locked doors and windows barred. Guard dogs prowling in the yard. Nothing will keep you safe in your bed. Nothing will, from Pumpkin head!
That definitely gives me chills when I hear that 😅
The First Pumpkinhead Still Stands The Best Of Time The Sequels On The Other Hand I Wouldn't Even Bother With Them.
AMEN BROTHER! IDK why this clown is giving the high regards to the sequels. I just told a friend of mine who just finished the first one the same thing you said. He loved it. But I told him DO NOT bother with the sequels. Candyman is the same thing: the original a top 10 all time horror masterpiece. It's sequels.... terrible and not worth watching. Both franchises would be time you'd never get back.
The first movie was fantastic and the Pumpkinhead monster is awesome. The Witch was great, I didn't find her scarier then Pumpkinhead but she is for sure crucial to the story. Part 2 was good, but I didn't like that they changed Pumpkinhead's and the Witch's origins. I liked that her origins were unknown and Pumpkinhead a demon of vengeance. I'd be so down if they ignored everything after 1, and continued from 1 and maybe even do some prequels.
You may not know this but back in 2007 and 08 they made two new pumpkinhead movies which were set after the first movie and had no connection whatsoever with the first sequel and Lance appares as a ghost in both of them try to warn the main characters about bringing back pumpkinhead and it's even implied in the first of the two that ed body was the vessel for the demon in that one. But outside of that they do not have much to do with the first one and they are both pretty bad
@@andywilliammockzek I didn't know that, and I'll check those out. Thanks
It's been a while, but I really don't think the second movie changed any origins. Miss Osie wasn't Haggis. And Tommy... well he was supposed to be the son of Pumpkinhead, right? On its face that doesn't really track, because Pumpkinhead is a demon of vengeance, he kills his victims not rapes them.
My take on it has always been that Tommy was the son of a summoner, the boy being tainted by the vengeance poisoning one of his parents suffered before they died and got dragged off to hell. His soul is technically connected to Pumpkinhead's, so when he got resurrected he could bring his father's body into the frey for getting his revenge. And once he got his revenge, and revenge for Miss Osie, there was nothing left to keep his demonic strength and invulnerability in this world, leaving him vulnerable to conventional weaponry at the end of the film.
@@Asertix357 I could be wrong, but it kinda felt like it was. Haggis was a witch that watched over Pumpkinhead and the patch he slept in. Osie was a witch who watched over Tommy, who was the child of Pumpkinhead and became Pumpkinhead to not just get revenge on those that killed him but those that killed Osie. This feels like a bit of a rewrite in that Pumpkinhead doesn't have children or come after you for self revenge. It is a demon that is summoned to get revenge for the summoner, as it does it turns the summoner into it. By the end that is, and you are now taken over by Pumpkinhead and wait for the next person to repeat the cycle.
Pumpkinhead is 1 of my favorite movies and was so good it set up a sequel and how it should go then they didn't bother . The 2nd was ok but just doesn't male sense after the 1st movie I like that they tried with 3 and 4 but they just weren't as good as the 1st
"Its what you wanted Ed Harley."
Blood Wings always made me cry.
I remember seeing this jem back in 1988 in the movie theater at 13 years old. My grandmom told the attendee that my uncle was already seated ,if she could walk me in to him. She walked me to the theater , got me seated, told me that she would be outside when it was over and walked out. So there i was a thirteen year old surrounded by a bunch of horror junkies as was i. I loved and saw part to in the theaters as well thanks to my grandmom who loved me. By far two not talked about two horror gems💀💀☠️☠️
Saw it in the theater at 11 with my friend Melvin. He was 13. First movie I ever saw in the theater without an adult. Yeah, we snuck in. Back in '88 it was easy to do back then. No ticket takers directly in front of the R-rated theaters back then, especially during the day.
This was my 1st horror movie ever, still love it. Only 2 movies ever scared me, and this was one...
It was the very first horror movie I was allowed to see in the movie theater by myself. I was 11 years old. But my first ever horror movie was the GOAT itself, John Carpenter's Halloween, at the not so tender age of 4. I've been in love with horror movies ever since. Seen HUNDREDS of them and Pumpkinhead (the first one ONLY) is in my top 10 favorite all time.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I still have my VHS copy, and I bought a shirt at Horror Hound in Cincinnati last year. I wore it to the school I teach at on dress down day; and one of my seventh grade students loves the movie so we spent the class discussing it.
Doesn't sound like "teaching" to me lol
@@briefcaseblues6061 I do enough to take sometime to appreciate a classic lol

I fell in love with Pumpkinhead back when I still had cable, the Syfy channel used to show it all the time. 🎃 💜
Now this is the story
Of a good man named Ed
Left his son for a moment
Returned, found him dead
Recalls a tale as a boy he was told
Of an evil witch, so wicked, so old
Seeks a farmer's advice he will not give
His oldest son knows just where the witch lived
He took Ed there but refused to go in
The boy knew what was about to begin
She had the power to avenge the dead
"It cost your soul, now come with me Ed"
I'm gonna take you where your body will lie
I'm gonna take you there, my friend
I'm gonna show you where your life will end
I'm gonna bring you here again
Dig up this grave, the old lady said
The thing we need it lies there dormant, sleeping with the dead
You understand what you ask of me
Not even death can set your soul free
I cast this curse and you will find
An evil darkness deep inside your vengeful mind
"God damn you to Hell!", he could not restrain
He already has son, the witch did explain
I'm gonna take you where your body will lie
I'm gonna take you there, my friend
I'm gonna show you where your life will end
I'm gonna bring you here again
Pumpkinhead! Pumpkinhead!
I'm gonna take you where your body will lie
I'm gonna take you there, she said
I'm gonna show you where your life will end
This curse I cast, you're Pumpkinhead!
Keep away from Pumpkinhead unless you're tired of living
His enemies are mostly dead, he's mean and unforgiving
Well done! Thank you for taking the time to post this creepy gem.
Yes is criminally one of the underrated horror movies of all time , this movie use to freak me the fuck out when I was kid , the 1st is the very best while the 2nd was alright it was enjoyable enough while it had its flaws then the franchise quickly went down the drain very fast after the 2nd movie
Pumpkinhead is a classic, plain and simple.
Spoony did a complete evisceration of the Bloodwings game several years ago. It's glorious.
Well it was obviously several years ago because spoony hasn’t done anything for a few years. Anything.
Mayor Bubba was played by former US Prez Bill Clinton's half brother Roger Clinton.
PH 1 was the first scary movie I watched as a kid Scared the crap out of me.
2 is pretty good also. I remember renting it when it first came out. For some reason I enjoyed it.
Blood wings is a movie I watch at least twice a year, I believe it to be the best horror movie sequel ever made. I can probably play the movie in my head start to finish and not miss a line of dialog.
The best horror sequel ever made? Jesus Christ, lay off the crack.
“the curse the curse of pumpkin head”
This writer is back! Hope you ate keeping well dude!
I remember thinking 3-Fingers from the Wrong Turn franchise looked a lot like the poor, bullied soul of the second Pumpkinhead.
The witch reminds me of Rhea of Cöos Hill from one of Stephen Kings books.
The best narrator is back 👍👍👍👍
I knew the day I saw this one, it was a instant classic . A Stan Winston Masterpiece no less. I had been a fan of Stan since I found out he worked on star wars. And this was the first movie of it's kind that had been promoted as a special effects driven story, with a powerhouse special effects master without equal brining the cinematic vision to life. Wasn't disappointed. A unique visual vision of a nightmare ❤❤❤🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Pumpkinhead is by far the scariest monster to me and scared me as a kid. Yet is still one of my favorites. Too bad all sequels suck. Second one is cheap, doesn't follow any of the lore established, and pumpkinhead isn't nearly a frighting looking.
What did you think it would be clean and painless. G- damn you woman. He already has Ed Harley he already has.
I have a digital copy of this movie in my collection
That Book of the Dead it sure does get around. It's in the pumpkin head universe as well as the Friday the 13th universe. The OG Multiverse hopper.
And evil dead
Lance Riddick is great in the first one
@13:10, ahem… Elim Garek on DS9?
These are 2 movies worth watching anytime!
I wonder, would Pumpkinhead, the first one anyway, be considered folk horror?
They really are good!!! Pumpkinhead its self was fucking scary! a killing machine that has to be summoned not just killing everyone blindly noooo not pumkin head he has a mission... evil begats evil type of deal. Thanks for talking about these!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🎃🎃🎃🎃
Same dog appeared in Gremlins.
Whats the background music ?
This movie is always so weird to me because it has otherworldly feel. Feels like it was filmed with a home movie camera in the early 70s. None of that was a diss by the way it’s awesome
Was Pumpkinhead 2 nominated for best screenplay?
It was actually a man who played the witch.
Great video but the video is zoomed in and looks weird majority of the time.
Punky Brewster the resident goth girl.
The first movie was super scary and the monster is underrated in horror history the sequel was hot 🗑️
one my favorite movies to watch at halloween. in fact i watched this last night. joel was an a$$hole
no such thing as a sweet country song
❤🎃🎃
Um, Stan Winston died in 2008.
You're gonna bring up Andrew Robinson and NOT mention Garak? Lol 🙄😂
I wish practical effects were more prominent today......cg is getting lame
Good sequel 😊
Pumpkinhead 2 isn't underrated. It's trash.
Dude, "Pumpkinhead" belongs in the annels of horror movie history. This movie DOES NOT belong in the "Best you've "never"0 seen" category. It is a horror masterpiece. Stan Winston's (the King of SFX) Directing debut. Lance Henrikson in the lead role, two years after playing the iconic android "Bishop" in "Aliens." And "Haggis the Witch" is the topping of the cake!
EASILY Top 10 greatest horror movie of all time.
However, the Pumpkinhead lsequels...
Need to stay the WORST you'll hopefully NEVER see category. They are HORRIBLE! Def not worth watching. Don't waste your time. Watch the original and STOP there. The rest are B movie straight to video disappointments.
Omg... I was eight with bad parents. Now i love this garbage movie.
Ya need new movies to talk about, same things over an over
Cool, underrated movie. I still cant find all the sequels.
Turn the music off
