Even weirder is that Newt wasn't a student and Dumbledore wasn't headmaster. I'm pretty sure one hadn't the authority to issue the points and the other hadn't the ability to receive them.

Does a member of the staff just have to verbally declare the ponts the the selected house and the hourglasses magically count it or do they have to input the amount more directly?

After years of being at the school, I assume that Dumbledore got sick of Slytherine's antics and he just wanted a different house to win the cup that year.

Dumbledore died at 115 years of age. The wizarding wars started around 1926, he was born in august 1881 and died june1997.
Harry joined Hogwarts in 1991. about 60-65 years after this scene.

But in the flashback where dumbledore is talking to Tom Riddle in the orphanage, he’s an old man. That conversation takes place only few years after this movie.

Newt could be hufflepuff or ravenclaw, really, depending on his deeper reason for his obsession with beasts. If it was for protection of species so the knowledge of them isn't lost, Ravenclaw. If it was because he was protecting beasts because they needed someone to care, Hufflepuff.

It's crazy that back in those days, they all wore suits befitting that time period, but fast forward to the 90s and all the teachers and Dumbledore are dressed up like they are living in the middle ages

@@fernansanchez6331 It's still candy. In the real world, there are real candies made out of bugs. My Dad bought some made out of either ants or locusts once. I can't remember what kind of bug it was. He gave me one to try. I didn't like it. Not because it was a bug, but because I didn't like the flavor they gave it. Eating insects is obviously an a acquired taste. Jacob liked the candy before he found out what it was made of. In this case the Slytherins were being mischievous not malicious.

I love how Theseus reassures Jacob when the spell finishes so he doesn’t stumble back and then Jacob gently pulls Newt closer to the group too. It’s so cute

I think the actor of newt was going out if the frame there. So it's not the characters it's the actors doing a favor.

I think it might have been both because if you look just a bit before that you can see Jacob is kind of scared about the smoke and everything is going around and he feels like he's about to fall and that's when Theseus is telling him that it's all right yet you can still see his uncertain on his face and that he brings Newt closer because he's scared of falling and he's also scared of Newt himself falling, all in all even if it was unscripted and was something that the actor did on his own it was still very much in character and fitted for the scene(and cute)
Jacob saying he got it for Christmas makes perfect sense when you remember that in Harry Potter books/movies they receive almost everything at Christmas

Why is Albus having this important strategic meeting right in the Great Hall?
For the same reason he was having a job interview not in his office but in a bar.
for the same reason he let harry a 14 year old participate in the triwizard tournament. or the reason he allowed students to go to the forest for punishment. or the reason he let lockhart teach DADA. i mean cmon the guy makes horrible decisions all the time!
Because it’s a big area that’s supposed to be empty at the time with no one else there. He needs that area so He can fully project and tell them what Needs to be done :-)

@@sonamtashi7706 Well remember that it’s revealed in book 5 that he didn’t know about the Room of requirement; in this movie whenever they use it later on he probably thought it Was only a room That was that size and only gave them what they needed to do in that scene and therefore Didn’t think it was big enough/too cramped to project what he needed to do :-)

I wished they've placed the Houses Hourglasses and the teachers table at the platform, it's just a small detail, but it fells odd to not having them there....
Well this was back in The Late 1920s eh? They were probably put up there later on overtime just not there in this time period :-)
Also I believe that in the books as also depicted in some of the games, the house point hour glasses are outside the great hall and not in it, So again maybe they were Originally they are but they moved into the great Hall overtime

TBF the set used in the HP films is a tourist attraction now. It gets so many people seeing it every single day, it probably would look nowhere near as good as it did during the films. Last time I was at the studio tour the guide even said it was showing signs of ageing and wear and tear.

By all definitions, he is a guest to the school. If a Muggle is invited into Hogwarts for whatever means, most likely to pick up or visit their child, the Anti-Muggle Enchantments lift for them, and they can see Hogwarts in all its glory.

You have to enjoy people to work in a Traditional British Pub as people treat it like they do there own home e.g they have 3 rounds of drinks with friends while chatting, stay all afternoon, maybe read the paper then play a game or do a doggy deal. At The Hogs Head Inn folks can stay the night as well if they choose too. Even if his Inn is off the main road.

a sizeable portion of the wizarding population are muggle born. Though Rowling never goes into detail about visitation rules at Hogwarts, I imagine that Muggle Parents wishing to pick up or visit their child are allowed to see through the enchantments.

Not even remotely possible. There is no script, the actors are busy with other projects, and David Yates has signed on to direct another film. WB also plans on waiting to see the streaming and DVD/Blu-Ray revenue results, before deciding to green light or cancel the rest of the series. Besides, fast tracking a sequel is what led to the second film being so terrible.

Tom Riddle was born in 1926 and this takes place in 1933. He'd be too young to attend Hogwarts.

I dunno. Now that some time has passed, I'm really kinda sad or maybe a little disappointed that they didn't finish this story line. I thought the first movie was wonderful, it was a good re-introduction to the Wizarding World. The second and the third and last apparently had their share of problems; this third one was all over the place, if memory serves, and I didn't like it too much. Nevertheless, I would have loved seeing them taking a different approach with the last two (?) movies in the set and still produce and release them. I'm not a huge Harry Potter fan and like I pointed out, these movies had their issues but also many kinda funny moments as well. Oh well, I guess it's up to some hardcore fans to finish the story in fan-fiction or similar!
