    The #GMCSierra has always been the 3rd best-selling truck in America right behind the Chevy Silverado and Ford F-150. For 2020, GMC is giving the #SierraHD a complete redo on the outside, a new frame underneath, and some pretty advance industry first features for truck buyers who plan to do a lot of towing. The light duty #Sierra also benefits from a 5th engine option, a 3.0L #Duramax #diesel inline 6-cylinder engine that offers up the most HP in the class at 277 and a stump pulling 460 lb-ft of torque. It all makes for the most capable Sierra that #GMC has ever made with the ability to tow up to 35,500 pounds on certain HD trucks.

    After driving all the new full size trucks I decided on a new Sierra 1/2 ton. It does lack some of the "wow" you get inside the Ram truck, but it more than makes up for it in every performance measure. I even rented a Ram, F150, and Sierra before deciding so I could get a really good feel for each. After 5 months I'm still extremely happy with my GMC!

It also had other niceties like a leather wrapped heated steering wheel and other goodies like better audio and better infotainment... the mid grade Silverado doesn’t have all those things, and the SLE isn’t even mid grade for the Sierra

    The truck performance and tech is respectable, but that interior is so 2000's. They really put all the money into the functional truck stuff rather than using some for updating their outdated interior. For 60k+ that interior is an insult, even Ford does a better job than that. Not saying it has to be exactly like Ram with a giant tablet because not everyone is into that but it needs to be more competitive and catch up with the times.

    The reason the 6.2 is not used in the HD because of durability. HD owners puts a lot of wear and tear on their trucks so a bigger liter gas engine is needed to put less stress on the engine.

    • @pacheco8245
      @pacheco8245 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's more than that. The 6.2L is higher compression and uses an aluminum block. The 6.6L is slightly lower compression, uses an iron block, and it has a larger stroke for more low and mid-range power, something important in a truck.

    All of the princesses that flocked here just to b**** and complain that the GM’s interiors aren’t pretty enough for them are behaving like dramatic little girls.
    We live in a world where leather padded armrests, authentic wood trim, 8-inch high resolution touchscreen infotainment system with lightning fast processor speeds, HUD, rear view camera mirror technology, a slew of other camera technology that’s best in the segment, premium stitched heated and ventilated perforated leather front seats, rear heated seats with contrast stitching, and real metal trim is considered a “dirt cheap” interior on a Heavy Duty pickup truck. LMDAO.
    RAM has really made these guys soft. Anyway, great review Soyfan, this truck is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. I can’t wait to see what GM does with the redesign for 2021. It’s true, real trucks do look better when they’re a little dirty.😝

      Yep. The only company that has a "more luxurious" interior is ram, and that's because they went for visual luxury over functional luxury. Ford, nissan and toyota all have the same level of interior in their top trim trucks, but only gm gets hated on for it

    • @mybro727
      @mybro727 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James Mastroianni That’s what I’m saying, it’s crazy and doesn’t make any sense. I guess the RAM guys are upset because the GM twins continue to outsell it even with a less luxurious interior. They’re really gonna be upset after the 2021 models are released with the new interior.

      @@mybro727 ram actually is now outselling chevy. Chevy+gmc still outsell ram but ram is really doing a number on chevys sales. It's not just people in TH-cam comments, real world sales are also reflecting the hate for the new trucks

    • @mybro727
      @mybro727 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      James Mastroianni that’s what I mean Chevy + GMC = GM half ton pickup continues to outsell RAM. They both have the same interior which people claim is the absolute worst interior they’ve ever laid eyes on in a pickup truck yet it outsells the RAM. I think that’s why GM gets so much hate for their interior, people are upset at the fact their trucks are so damn good in every other category that despite the less luxurious interior they _still_ outsell the RAM.

    The V8 gas engines out sell the diesels at about 3 to 1 due in part to fleet sales because of the far lower MSRP and much lower maintenance costs over the diesel. Thus the reason Ford and GM both came out with new commercial grade V8 has engines for 2020 which will undoubtedly make the sales gap between diesel and gas even broader than before.

      Say what you will about the interior, could it be more plush with more soft touch materials? Sure. With that said, GMC/Chevy interiors are extremely easy to navigate and ergonomic as far as I'm concerned. Everything is within reach and where you expect it to be. Ford and Tundras are no different - lots of plastic.
      I prefer the infotainment on GM vehicles over Sync on Fords. Ram have the nicest interiors these days; though I might be part of the small minority who doesn't like the giant touchscreen. I rather have analogue buttons to control HVAC, radio, etc.
      I think both the Sierra AT4 HD and 1500 Duramax Diesel are best in class for looks and drivetrain package.

      Same. After a TON of research I'm finding the bleeding edge of Ford a little to risky, while Ram snazzy interior and 12" screen is a little to bling for me.
      GMC and to an extent Tundra seems to hit the sweet spot with analog controls and functional but plain interiors.
      I'd rather turn a knob than hunt for menu's and then sub menu's to change settings.
      Great example:
      I'm glad some mfg are bringing back the rotary knob volume for radio instead of tap, tap, tap or slide up & down the volume on a digital screen.

DFI just means carbon buildup and if you've been following up on those Ecotec V8 motors you'll know they carbon up so badly the heads need to be removed and cleaned. Ford also has a dual injection system in their other V8 motors. I don't care about 1 MPG better. I care about reliability and longevity. It needs to start and run the same with 300k on it with regular maintenance of course.

    I always loved US trucks, but what I don't get is why all HD models from all brands have those big "dressing table" like mirrors... they look weird and most of the time do not match the design of the truck itself and not everyone wants to tow with their HD trucks.
    I know, I know... HD trucks are made for that, heavy duty, towing and all, but c'mon... the mirrors from the 1500 models are a lot more beautiful.

    At 13:56 "in America pickup trucks are extremely popular family vehicles.". This was true up to about 4-5 years ago when prices were reasonable. People who couldn't afford a Mercedes Benz would buy trucks instead. Now people buy the less expensive CLA, C, GLA, GLC Classes because they cost way less than a loaded pickup. Want to induce a heart attack on someone get them to look at the Monroney on a new AT4 or Denali 1500 or HD truck. Prices are eye watering expensive.

      They have big discounts on trucks. The real reason trucks make poor family vehicles is they are not maneuverable. You can’t park em, you can’t whip a quick u turn, you can’t go off-road unless it’s a desert, you can’t go fast around turns, poor range, horrible fuel economy, etc. etc. They are not as safe as people think they are. SUVs, especially unibody, and very large sedans have a lower death rate.

    • @dchawk81
      @dchawk81 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@user-tb7rn1il3q Literally none of those are important family vehicle attributes. Except parking, but you can if you're a halfway decent driver. Some of those things shouldn't even be done with a family. Or at all.
