I am from San Francisco and my boat is in San Carlos Mexico. It is such a pleasure to watch your videos. Nicole, some bloke is going to get lucky to find you. How many girls have even heard of the word gybe. My last accidental gybe almost took my rig down in 25 knots of wind. I tried to slow it down with 2 hands and almost go injured. Queensland is beautiful and so many interesting places to sail to. Great to see a good relationship between the two of you. Hoping my wife can come home soon. She has been stuck in Beijing for almost 4.5 months and no end in sight due to Covid travel restrictions, US embassy closed in Beijing, and mandatory quarantine upon arrival in Beijing. Simon it is always interesting to hear another sailor talk about techniques they use for piloting, seamanship, navigation, and practical things. Can you give us more of these things. For example, in this video you mentioned always approach your anchored yacht upwind so that it will be easier if outboard dies...rowing will be easier. Stuff like that helps neophytes learn the ropes without paying for the big mistake. Respects

Living in Auckland, but used to live in Cleveland while in Queensland. Constantly looking at houses back in Queensland again. Hopefully be able to come back over again when the boy goes off to Uni. Tewantin, Tin Can Bay, Airlie Beach are my fav.

Hi Ian , A tablet with an APP as long as you can place it where it does not get water on it . If money is no problem a water proof stand alone unit with AIS integrated . The APP you must know it limitations be zoom in whilst going down the track as not to run into any surprises like the round the world boat who ended on a big reef! safe sailing regards Simon
hey Simon and Nicole, thanks for the excellent videos. I've been watching this whole covid escape. I sold my live aboard sailboat about a year ago. now i want another one, but a ts. so i can easily take it out and clean and paint it.. i just bought a hartley 16 that needs a lot of fixing.. but it might be too small to venture up the coast like you guys are doing. Do you do trad climbing Nicole? ive been climbing for a few years, but only sports climbs at this stage.. thanks again.
@@nicolecarter6343 I can't wait till climbing is back on. We used to go to rocksports. Think my son and I will be joining 9 degrees, it's bouldering and a bit more scary.
When you return to Pearl Bay...walk the entire length of the beach and FIND....lots of FLOATS and BUOYS that are washed up on the shore. All FREE. Enjoy

I am still sports climbing too. Would like to learn trad but haven't got around to it yet.

Another amazing video Simon and Nicole. Simon what type of lifting mechanism do you have on the keel. Is it an electric winch.?
Noelex 30 have a Hydraulic Rams to lift the keel.
