Haha, yes, never considered Sleep Token metal, I know they have heavy songs especially in the new album but I love the clean ones way more. Like, my favorite song by them is Give, and a lot of the Sundowning songs which in my opinion is their best album by far. Don't care if they're metal or not, as long as they are Sleep Token doing songs like they feel like.
Anyone who knows Sleep Tokens history knows what they are about. I'd argue that this is their best album. I think they are finally at a point where they understand there sound and what works, and how to keep things cohesive while switching up there sounds. I've listened to them since 2015 and they have really evolved as a band.
In my experience like 98% LOVE Sleep Token and then the other 2% either genuinely don’t like them, or they don’t like them because they want to be the odd man out from the crowd. I have loved music since I was 10. Started to play music at 13. I have been obsessed with Pearl Jam, Tool, John Mayer and so many others. There has NEVER been music that has moved me like Sleep Token does. I'm a 45 year old grown ass man and I cry almost every time I hear so many of these songs. They just hit different. Find the rabbit hole and jump in. It's well worth the ride.
They got mis-labelled as metal and some people felt threatened by that. I've seen loads of videos saying stuff like "is this the future of metal" etc... No. No it isn't. It's Sleep Token. Metal will continue to be metal. Chill.
As a huge fan I can understand why some people hate them. Some people like music to fit in a tidy box, and anything outside their box is “bad”. If you don’t have an understanding or appreciation for music in general and only like specific sounds then it makes sense that sleep token would not be received well. I like to compare their music to foreplay, because it’s a whole experience from start to finish. Some people just want to get straight to the point and get it over with without savoring it, and those are the people who hate sleep token. Beyond the sound of it, the lyrics are incredibly well thought, and relatable, and heavy, and uplifting, and all the things.
But what some people might dislike or hate about them is everything I love about them! I enjoy many different genres so the blend of hip hop, R&B, metalcore, pop and everything else is a godsend. They’re the only band I listen to where I have a visceral reaction. Some people might complain it’s too dreary and sad, but I love that. It’s good to feel pain and sadness at times. The lyrics are just unparalleled. Vessels voice is top tier and he has wide range with it. II is an unbelievable talent on the drums. I just can’t fathom hating this band or at least not being able to find a few songs of theirs that you really enjoy.
As an actual Old School Rock/Metal musician, this is probably one of my favorite bands ever..... "Traditionalists" of any genre are trippn, but as some one who grew up in a house that did not limit listening taste we had it all. I would listen to ZZtop, Sabbath etc. and then go to the local mall and break dance to Grand Master Flash. This is the future of music and all I can say is, it's about time! Stop with the fuckn' labels.
The obvious thing to point at for their hate is the melding of the various genres (there's the obvious pop/metal mix, but there's elements of acid jazz, rock, classical, trap, r'n'b etc), however I'm convinced the reasons are more shallow than that: It's brought a massive amount of new non-tradional fans to the metal space, and metalheads are traditionally gatekeepers. Between these guys and Bad Omens, their surge in popularity came from TikTok thirst traps and their female fans probably outweigh their male fans. That said, I find that the audience for ST is massively wide - there's everything from 15 year old girls to 65 year old dudes and everyone in between. It's a shame that most metalheads can't pull their head out of their own arses long enough to be exposed to music outside of their general tastes because there's a world of instrumentation out that that should be celebrated by all. This band is sick, and I'm stoked to be catching them next to Bring Me The Horizon later this month.

The moment I saw Sleep Token vaguely described as metal, it was obvious they'd get a lot of hate from people who only like metal. The moment I heard them, it was equally obvious that they were going to get a lot of love from people who don't confine themselves to a single genre.
I couldnt imagine not being able to write what comes to me because 'the genres dont mix and it will feel forced'. I dont think Sleep Token is going out of its way to be too experimental. I just think they write what comes to them, no matter which form it takes.

People that hate sleep token have never been to their concerts. Dude puts 1000% into his performance and is extremely grateful for his fans. If you hate the band, its simple don't listen to them and move on.
I was born in the 80s. Cut my teeth on Ozzy and Nazareth, grew up with Pantera and White Zombie, went through my teenage angst with Korn, Rage Against the Machine, and System of a Down. It’s safe to say that at this point I’d be considered an old school metal head. Metal is, and will likely always be, one of my favorite genres. I’m the sort of dick to have a metal playlist with a Whitney Houston song tossed directly in the middle. A Hip-hop playlist with a classical piano piece in the middle. I love (or at least appreciate) all music, I just happen to like metal a little more than most. That being said, Sleep Token is my favorite band. Vessel is a very talented individual. He plays all the instruments on the album except the drums, sings, and helps in production. I love that their albums take you on a journey. I’m glad you enjoyed them.
It's when the eyes light up and never dim that I know Vessel's got them ❤ Vessel does a very interesting thing called "singing in cursive" and we usually see that style with modern pop artists (Billie Eilish, Halsey, Amy Winehouse, etc) so I think that's why it sounds so much like pop. I rarely see hate on them and I think only two reaction/breakdown channel didn't really care for them, not exactly hate them but couldn't get the hype, but both were prodomeniately Deathcore/metalcore vocalist. Now, Im an avid deathcore/metalcore fan, I have been since I was a kid, 2003 with the release of a hatebreed album, but we have to be open to different worlds and experiences. Music should be about the emotion it invokes. Vessel did that on such a profound, sometimes life changinng, way.
Sleep Token only gets hate because of their popularity. It's usually people with bad music taste or metal elitists. Their supporters heavily outweigh the haters. Hell, they sold out Wembley last year if that tells you anything. If you want to dive further into the band, I'd listen to their entire discography. All of their EPs and Albums are unique and worth a listen.

I hear a lot of hate for sleep token from people who have only heard 1 song. I also hear the word "pretentious" a lot. I think a lot of it has to do with the fan base being so full on. If you hate them then don't listen to them maybe? It's been a couple of decades since a band has hit me so much in the feels.
If you hate a band but a lot of people love them, and you feel the need to openly hate on them, that's the point of jealously not just your opinion. Opinion is opinion and we are entitled to them, but there's absolutely no need to go out of your way to to be dick out loud.. So there must be a fire inside you, a jealous one. That's how I see it :)
Personally, I would be questioning what your "online" surroundings are. Take Me Back To Eden was the most streamed metal album on Spotify in 2023. Hate is the exception, not the standard. I don't see hate anywhere. I only see love for this group and album. Reset your algorithm.
They get hate because they're too metal for pop/rock fans and too poppy for metal fans. As you've said, this isn't the first time we've seen this. But Sleep Token's absolute explosion of popularity in 2023 has thrust them into the spotlight. They had 200 thousand monthly Spotify in January 2023. Now they have 3.2 million. With this massive surge in popularity, it's trendy to talk about them. So you're hearing a lot of negative opinions - because there are an *awful* lot of opinions being shared. Make no mistake, there are thousands of people who are obsessing over this band as well. And as with anything that's popular there are a healthy dose of people who just don't like it because it's popular. Always happens to a degree.
Listen to the lyrics more and you will appreciate all their songs so much and their intermingling of lyrics and storytelling throughout all their songs. Also it was a pleasure watching you at first be a skeptic and then slowly progress in to becoming a sleep token fan, these are my favorite type of videos to watch.
As a metal fanatic, I absolutely adore this band. My birthday was actually yesterday and I got my first tattoo as a gift from my father and grandparents. The tattoo I chose was the "angel of death" from the "Take me Back to Eden" music video

All the metal elitists get triggered every time they are mentioned because their style of music and they mix and match different things. It’s something new and refreshing and lots of the haters don’t like that cause they’re not used to change.

True, the gate keeping is incredibly annoying and unnecessary. My experience with the dumb dumb gatekeepers is they are usually the 20 & 30 somethings. I like to remind them as to how many sub genres Metal has.
This is hands down the best album I’ve ever heard. Highly reccomend all of their music. IMO not a single. Bad. Song. Also, don’t ever expect to stay in the same groove for long 😂 people say they’re not metal, but then again, Sleep Token has never once said they’re a metal band. They’ve been defined as such and they’re winning all kinds of metal awards that people are salty about. Forget the haters. They’re gonna hate anyway 🤷🏼♀️ also, Euclid will make more sense if you listen to all albums and EPs. Truly a masterpiece of a song.
Ha, yes that's his natural voice. He uses the back of his throat to get that deep sound. Basically like a metalhead growl without the growl? Not sure that's the best explanation. He totally works the spacing in the back to get that deep tone.
Great reaction! Just gonna call out that the end of Euclid, the "music festival material" portion, is actually a call back to the first track of their first full length album "Sundowning" which creates this really cool wrap up/loop of their last 3 albums.

"Everyone" huh, one of the biggest bands in metal in a long long time. That's because they appeal to musicians and generic music lovers alike. Only people I've seen hating are purists and non-musician music critics (and honestly I don't trust critics that don't do music themselves, they lack insight I feel, sorry to sound elitist, Corey Taylor loves this band, I'm sure tool does too, ain't gonna listen to fucking Anthony Fantano before actual metal musicians). I'm a metal head and found these guys through Aqua Regia, by chance. Good music is good music, and jazz fusion is where it's at. EDIT: That's absolutely his real voice. Without telling you his identity, his voice is pretty much the same since long before sleep token. And he's great live too. I think his voice isn't neccesarily super low, it's just the round tone he has that makes it sound like it's super deep. Also, their drummer is insane, there are a few playthroughs with him. He won 3 awards from Drumeo just the other day.
A good litmus test for determining if someone will like Token is establishing the breadth of their musical taste. It's an imperfect test, but a reasonably reliable one, since one purist's 'weird' or 'jarring' is a prog head's 'interesting'. I've heard others express their distaste maturely, without trying to call the intricately produced 'basic' and the carefully curated 'jarring' in an attempt to intellectualise their aversion, and they're the ones to respect.

Sleep Token has played several rock/metal festivals, and they always seem to be a hit. I was at Louder Than Life last year, and the sea of people behind me to watch them was insane. Hardcore metalheads are obviously not going to like them because they're not "real metal", but Sleep Token themselves have never claimed to be metal. Ok, I've been a Sleep Token fan since 2019 or something, and in my personal opinion, I think people just got tired of the fuzz that circled this band last year, they were really unknown before they released "The Summoning" and all of the sudden everybody were talking about them, like, A LOT. Just so you have an idea they went from 290,000 montly listeners in January 7 up to 1,8m in Feb 7 on spotify. I think some people were just mad about the fanbase or something, idk
I've definitely seen quite a bit of hate but without exception, the people involved always have long hair and are wearing a black shirt with un-readable white text printed on it.
The haters are in the minority and most of them can’t come up with an intelligent reason for why they hate them. IMO I think it’s because they have become so popular and it’s always “cool” to hate on something popular. Sadly, it’s that’s way a lot. especially in the metal fandom. Old metal fan here. Plus they appeal to women quite a bit. Not something insecure men like. I’m a big fan of them myself. They are a breath of fresh air. The vocals and the lyrics sold me at first then came the instrumentals. I think they also appeal to musicians who automatically hear the talent that went into each song. You definitely should listen to their other albums as well. You won’t regret it.
I'll be reductionist and say that the hate is just metal elitism, there isn't much more to it. Generally if one doesn't like a band or a style they just move over, they don't make threads on twitter/reddit about hatting the band, even if it's successful. I showed a couple tracks from this band to my dad and his cousin who are more into hard rock/classic metal, think kiss, iron maiden, dio, and they were like, "yeah, not my thing", didn't really bring it up anymore again and that's what I'd expect for most people to do. Only those who are terminally online and think the music they like is the best would spend time hating on sleep token or any other "non-standard" metal band.
Its usually down to not liking prog or any number of the fusion elements (elitism or having a specific palate). Those who intellectualise it will say that the transitions are 'jarring', or the individual elements are too 'simplictic' or 'trite', but, even if that were true, we all know something can be greater than the sum of its parts.
I would recommend listening to Jaws, then there first album sundowning. After that This place will become tomb. I would listen to the two EPs last because you'll respect it more after going through there full albums.

My husband hates them and I love them so much!!! Been listening to them everyday last month up until now. Ikeep telling him to listen to TMBTE again and the prior albums too. The funny thing is the same day when he listened to the album on a whim I had gone ahead and booked tickets for Nov at Wembley because I just know I really want to see them. Sadly, I won't be taking him since he spoke so poorly of them. Haven't got the guts to tell him I booked them yet. Shall be taking someone else who I'm hoping will enjoy their music. 😣

oddly enough, this dude basically sounds like this live. It's pretty impressive. On your title topic, I can see why people wont like them, they are a bit different, and your first impression could be totally different depending which song you hear first. I can especially see why hardcore metal heads would probably hate it. I think putting that Metal label on the band probably does it a disservice and perhaps even gives the wrong impression. Though, they can get heavy, it's not really what they are about. If you tell a metal head that this is metal they probably wont like it. If you tell them it's a unique band that can get heavy and has lots of other influences perhaps they wouldn't dislike it so much, I dunno :/ That being said, I think it's refreshing and I invite the uniqueness. Personally, really like them.

I appreciate that you went into this open minded and were able to pull things you really liked, but also see the other side of why others may not be as receptive. For me, I had an inverse experience (I assume) compared to most. I never listened to any metal at all, but I stumbled upon this band randomly and really enjoyed them. It slowly introduced me to the realm of “metal” and now I enjoy the ‘true metal’ in which I assume the people who dislike Sleep Token are referencing. For some, this band has offended the genre, but for me, it’s opened me up to a whole new world of music I was shunning before discovering them. It goes both ways. Great video man, really enjoyed sharing your experience!

there's a good portion that do, you just need to be in the right places- it's mostly just due to their blend of genres and how untraditional they are. i think a lot of the haters are pretty much just elitist and gatekeepers of single genres.
It's funny - I'm seeing all these videos suggested lately like "why does everyone hate Sleep Token." I got into them like 2 months ago and now I can't stop listening to them. They've become one of my favorite bands. But before I checked them out, I felt like every day for nearly a year all I saw and heard were comments like "Sleep Token is sex for your ears; the greatest band to grace the music scene in decades; the music of the gods" haha. So from my own subjective bubble, I was thinking more like, "why does nobody dislike Sleep Token?"

The moment I saw Sleep Token vaguely described as metal, it was obvious they'd get a lot of hate from people who only like metal. The moment I heard them, it was equally obvious that they were going to get a lot of love from people who don't confine themselves to a single genre.
I couldnt imagine not being able to write what comes to me because 'the genres dont mix and it will feel forced'. I dont think Sleep Token is going out of its way to be too experimental. I just think they write what comes to them, no matter which form it takes.
The fact that a person can be pissed because "This metal band is mixing with a genre i don't like" is beyond me.
Like, dude, you don't like it, don't listen to it, simple as that.

Watching ii ( sleep tokens drummer ) play on drumeo, he really made me appreciate songs like vore for its intense instrumental.
They just played a festival back in October 2023 with Tool and there was about 30,000 people crowded around a small stage to watch them! haha
People that hate sleep token have never been to their concerts. Dude puts 1000% into his performance and is extremely grateful for his fans. If you hate the band, its simple don't listen to them and move on.
The funny thing here is that nobody (in the band) said they were a metal band.
I'm an old-school metal fan (I'm almost 56), and I LOVE this album and I love everything about this band.
I was born in the 80s. Cut my teeth on Ozzy and Nazareth, grew up with Pantera and White Zombie, went through my teenage angst with Korn, Rage Against the Machine, and System of a Down. It’s safe to say that at this point I’d be considered an old school metal head. Metal is, and will likely always be, one of my favorite genres.
I’m the sort of dick to have a metal playlist with a Whitney Houston song tossed directly in the middle. A Hip-hop playlist with a classical piano piece in the middle. I love (or at least appreciate) all music, I just happen to like metal a little more than most.
That being said, Sleep Token is my favorite band. Vessel is a very talented individual. He plays all the instruments on the album except the drums, sings, and helps in production. I love that their albums take you on a journey. I’m glad you enjoyed them.

Vessel does a very interesting thing called "singing in cursive" and we usually see that style with modern pop artists (Billie Eilish, Halsey, Amy Winehouse, etc) so I think that's why it sounds so much like pop.
I rarely see hate on them and I think only two reaction/breakdown channel didn't really care for them, not exactly hate them but couldn't get the hype, but both were prodomeniately Deathcore/metalcore vocalist. Now, Im an avid deathcore/metalcore fan, I have been since I was a kid, 2003 with the release of a hatebreed album, but we have to be open to different worlds and experiences. Music should be about the emotion it invokes. Vessel did that on such a profound, sometimes life changinng, way.
Fantano also ripped on them but it was very obviously he was playing up how "bad" it was
I see hate for them on fb and IG all the time. Always from the metal elitists who only listen to obscure bands, mad about them being labeled as metal.
Sleep Token only gets hate because of their popularity. It's usually people with bad music taste or metal elitists. Their supporters heavily outweigh the haters. Hell, they sold out Wembley last year if that tells you anything.
If you want to dive further into the band, I'd listen to their entire discography. All of their EPs and Albums are unique and worth a listen.

I hear a lot of hate for sleep token from people who have only heard 1 song. I also hear the word "pretentious" a lot. I think a lot of it has to do with the fan base being so full on. If you hate them then don't listen to them maybe? It's been a couple of decades since a band has hit me so much in the feels.
If you hate a band but a lot of people love them, and you feel the need to openly hate on them, that's the point of jealously not just your opinion. Opinion is opinion and we are entitled to them, but there's absolutely no need to go out of your way to to be dick out loud.. So there must be a fire inside you, a jealous one. That's how I see it :)
This band has done to me in the last few years what Deftones did to me in 1997.
Personally, I would be questioning what your "online" surroundings are. Take Me Back To Eden was the most streamed metal album on Spotify in 2023. Hate is the exception, not the standard. I don't see hate anywhere. I only see love for this group and album. Reset your algorithm.
They get hate because they're too metal for pop/rock fans and too poppy for metal fans. As you've said, this isn't the first time we've seen this. But Sleep Token's absolute explosion of popularity in 2023 has thrust them into the spotlight. They had 200 thousand monthly Spotify in January 2023. Now they have 3.2 million.
With this massive surge in popularity, it's trendy to talk about them. So you're hearing a lot of negative opinions - because there are an *awful* lot of opinions being shared. Make no mistake, there are thousands of people who are obsessing over this band as well.
And as with anything that's popular there are a healthy dose of people who just don't like it because it's popular. Always happens to a degree.

Listen to the lyrics more and you will appreciate all their songs so much and their intermingling of lyrics and storytelling throughout all their songs.

Sleep Token gets hate because they are popular and they are very good at what they do. All the metal elitists get triggered every time they are mentioned because their style of music and they mix and match different things. It’s something new and refreshing and lots of the haters don’t like that cause they’re not used to change.

True, the gate keeping is incredibly annoying and unnecessary. My experience with the dumb dumb gatekeepers is they are usually the 20 & 30 somethings. I like to remind them as to how many sub genres Metal has.

This is hands down the best album I’ve ever heard. Highly reccomend all of their music. IMO not a single. Bad. Song. Also, don’t ever expect to stay in the same groove for long 😂 people say they’re not metal, but then again, Sleep Token has never once said they’re a metal band. Ha, yes that's his natural voice. He uses the back of his throat to get that deep sound. Basically like a metalhead growl without the growl? Not sure that's the best explanation. He totally works the spacing in the back to get that deep tone.

They ant a metal band. They just take elements of different styles they obviously like and cleverly blend them into there songs in a not so obvious fashion. There musicianship is great And personally I like it. It's a breath of fresh air in a time where you can fart into a mic and it makes the charts.

"Everyone" huh, one of the biggest bands in metal in a long long time. That's because they appeal to musicians and generic music lovers alike. Only people I've seen hating are purists and non-musician music critics (and honestly I don't trust critics that don't do music themselves, they lack insight I feel, sorry to sound elitist, Corey Taylor loves this band, I'm sure tool does too, ain't gonna listen to fucking Anthony Fantano before actual metal musicians). I'm a metal head and found these guys through Aqua Regia, by chance. Good music is good music, and jazz fusion is where it's at.
EDIT: That's absolutely his real voice. Without telling you his identity, his voice is pretty much the same since long before sleep token. And he's great live too. I think his voice isn't neccesarily super low, it's just the round tone he has that makes it sound like it's super deep.
Also, their drummer is insane, there are a few playthroughs with him. He won 3 awards from Drumeo just the other day.
A good litmus test for determining if someone will like Token is establishing the breadth of their musical taste. It's an imperfect test, but a reasonably reliable one, since one purist's 'weird' or 'jarring' is a prog head's 'interesting'. I've heard others express their distaste maturely, without trying to call the intricately produced 'basic' and the carefully curated 'jarring' in an attempt to intellectualise their aversion, and they're the ones to respect.
I am an oldschool metal fan.Listening to death,black,doom,some deathcore.Recently discovering this band with II drumeo vid and i think blending all of this genres is absolutely fantastic.You just have to be openminded imo.Iis the music good?Does it bring you pleasure listening to a song ? if Yes so no problem despite being into metal or any genres.

Sleep Token has played several rock/metal festivals, and they always seem to be a hit. I was at Louder Than Life last year, and the sea of people behind me to watch them was insane. Hardcore metalheads are obviously not going to like them because they're not "real metal", but Sleep Token themselves have never claimed to be metal. From their very first album they have blended different genres into a somewhat heavier sound.

I saw them at LTL and Blue Ridge Rock Fest and I loved them both times, Will Ramos of Lorna Shore was in the same part of the crowd as me for their performances and was so nice to everyone on the way out too

Ok, I've been a Sleep Token fan since 2019 or something, and in my personal opinion, I think people just got tired of the fuzz that circled this band last year, they were really unknown before they released "The Summoning" and all of the sudden everybody were talking about them, like, A LOT. Just so you have an idea they went from 290,000 montly listeners in January 7 up to 1,8m in Feb 7 on spotify. I think some people were just mad about the fanbase or something, idk

The haters are in the minority and most of them can’t come up with an intelligent reason for why they hate them. IMO I think it’s because they have become so popular and it’s always “cool” to hate on something popular. Sadly, it’s that’s way a lot. especially in the metal fandom. Old metal fan here. Plus they appeal to women quite a bit. Not something insecure men like. I’m a big fan of them myself. They are a breath of fresh air. The vocals and the lyrics sold me at first then came the instrumentals. I think they also appeal to musicians who automatically hear the talent that went into each song. You definitely should listen to their other albums as well. You won’t regret it.
I'll be reductionist and say that the hate is just metal elitism, there isn't much more to it.
Generally if one doesn't like a band or a style they just move over, they don't make threads on twitter/reddit about hatting the band, even if it's successful. I showed a couple tracks from this band to my dad and his cousin who are more into hard rock/classic metal, think kiss, iron maiden, dio, and they were like, "yeah, not my thing", didn't really bring it up anymore again and that's what I'd expect for most people to do. Only those who are terminally online and think the music they like is the best would spend time hating on sleep token or any other "non-standard" metal band.
Its usually down to not liking prog or any number of the fusion elements (elitism or having a specific palate). Those who intellectualise it will say that the transitions are 'jarring', or the individual elements are too 'simplictic' or 'trite', but, even if that were true, we all know something can be greater than the sum of its parts.

I would recommend listening to Jaws, then there first album sundowning. After that This place will become tomb. I would listen to the two EPs last because you'll respect it more after going through there full albums.

My husband hates them and I love them so much!!! Been listening to them everyday last month up until now. Ikeep telling him to listen to TMBTE again and the prior albums too. The funny thing is the same day when he listened to the album on a whim I had gone ahead and booked tickets for Nov at Wembley because I just know I really want to see them. Sadly, I won't be taking him since he spoke so poorly of them. Haven't got the guts to tell him I booked them yet. Shall be taking someone else who I'm hoping will enjoy their music. 😣

Vessel has a huge range and sounds the same live. Also all the instruments are him besides the drums. ALL th lyrics and vocals even the parts that sound like choir are him. Just vessel and vocal layering.

oddly enough, this dude basically sounds like this live. It's pretty impressive. On your title topic, I can see why people wont like them, they are a bit different, and your first impression could be totally different depending which song you hear first. I can especially see why hardcore metal heads would probably hate it. I think putting that Metal label on the band probably does it a disservice and perhaps even gives the wrong impression. Though, they can get heavy, it's not really what they are about. If you tell a metal head that this is metal they probably wont like it. If you tell them it's a unique band that can get heavy and has lots of other influences perhaps they wouldn't dislike it so much, I dunno :/ That being said, I think it's refreshing and I invite the uniqueness. Personally, really like them.

I appreciate that you went into this open minded and were able to pull things you really liked, but also see the other side of why others may not be as receptive.
For me, I had an inverse experience (I assume) compared to most. I never listened to any metal at all, but I stumbled upon this band randomly and really enjoyed them. It slowly introduced me to the realm of “metal” and now I enjoy the ‘true metal’ in which I assume the people who dislike Sleep Token are referencing.
For some, this band has offended the genre, but for me, it’s opened me up to a whole new world of music I was shunning before discovering them.

there's a good portion that do, you just need to be in the right places- it's mostly just due to their blend of genres and how untraditional they are. i think a lot of the haters are pretty much just elitist and gatekeepers of single genres.

It's funny - I'm seeing all these videos suggested lately like "why does everyone hate Sleep Token." I got into them like 2 months ago and now I can't stop listening to them. They've become one of my favorite bands. But before I checked them out, I felt like every day for nearly a year all I saw and heard were comments like "Sleep Token is sex for your ears; the greatest band to grace the music scene in decades; the music of the gods" haha. So from my own subjective bubble, I was thinking more like, "why does nobody dislike Sleep Token?"
