      Titus Pullo You don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about. It’s well documented whether man or woman most people enlisting in the military have family members who served. It’s gotten to the point it has been called a “warrior caste”. Most of these people have experience with naval/military base or post and the culture of growing up and living or going to these places. Basically most of the military is producing its own new recruits because the sons and daughters are the ones growing up and joining the military. Notice that half of the volunteers were young men barely 18 and yet they rose to fight for freedom and independence. Notice how each one looked towards their loved ones wanting to give them more out of this country. They fought so that their children and families may live free. The price for freedom so generously paid by the volunteers of average people. Not by a well organized standard military but people who believed in the Cause and were willing to fight for it. Freedom is worth fighting for.

    • @codydisney9959
      @codydisney9959 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      stonem001 the British abolished in 1832 but you think they wouldn't exploit slavery in the US even after they abolished it. Protection for Natives lol you mean the natives that fought along side of them. Any tribe that sided with the French got such good treatment from the Brits. The Americans didn't wake up and said let's mistreat minorites. They learn it from the mother country.

    • @codydisney9959
      @codydisney9959 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      stonem001 Question how were the natives treated that were near the English settlements treated again cause I am sure the ones near Jamestown would love to know they were treated fairly. The problem with your argument is your belief that the British would be so kind when open territory expansion happen. The Louisana purchase never happen cause Britian would took control over that piece of French territory. So instead of slaughter from the Americans it would been the British doing it. Also not justifying slavery but in the US. Slaves were treated the best out of any of the European territories. Do you think with fall of the American gov and most of the elite. The British would that took over carry on the same mercy to the slaves before abolition was enacted. Again it's to many what ifs but history has taught me that the US is not right in ways of dealing with its minorities but it's still a drop in the bucket compared to the Brits.

    For those of you who read this posted comment, all of us should take a moment to give thanks unto God during this upcoming 4th of July for blessing us with such a promised Land full of liberty & freedoms, which was only payed for through the shedded blood & sacrifices of our founding forefathers & their beloved families. We should always remember that Freedom is never free.
    The holy scriptures even proves to us how war on fellow human civilizations is a repeating cycle, all simply because of iniquity & wickedness. Watch & prepare y'all, & brace yourselves for what's soon coming. Based on where the world is currently headed, it's obviously gonna get much more hellish from here. Even more so than it was for Sodom & Gomorrah! It's even been repetitively prophesied in written scripture by not just holy prophets of old, but today's latter-day prophets that the Constitution of the United States of America will hang only just by a thread, & true Christians who still believe in the rights of our beliefs & freedoms will be the last ones standing to faithfully uphold it

    It's almost as though someone somewhere was trying to prime the patriotic pump of a whole generation of impressionable young men and women to enlist and fight in a contrived war with no clear objectives or causes in which multi-national companies would receive multi-billion dollar contracts for 20+ years.

    This scene always gets me, this country was founded on the backs of men who chose to "stand and fight." The courage it took to be in that room, to look at your wife and children, your mother, your brother and to chose them and stand up against the tyrrany of the world is the very definition of honor and courage.

    Its amazing that we have gone from an America who would bravely stand up and fight for their beliefs.....to an America who would cast out its veterans and is being plagued by an ever-increasing number of school shootings and a government who gives aid to illegal foreigners and tortures the innocent for no reason. What have we, as a nation, become? I read an article yesterday that HUNDREDS of little children are being held in facilities because their parents tried to cross the border illegally. These innocent children are crying for their mothers but we have become so hardened as a nation that those who have these children in their care are forbidden to hold them....comfort them....to dry their tears. These children aren't even allowed to comfort each other. Its disgusting. As an American and a good human being, I could not, in good conscience, stand in a room full of crying and terrified children and NOT comfort them. I could not see a war-weary veteran sitting in the freezing cold and NOT offer him a hot plate of food or a cup of coffee. We, as a nation, need to remember the freedom that our forefathers so bravely fought and died for and WHY they fought to give us this freedom.

    What this scene represents is quite poignant as every one of the individuals who stood and volunteered were virtually signing their death warrants. The odds of the colonials winning a war against the finest army in the world at that time was very close to zero. Each volunteer gave up his home, safety, worldly possessions, and possibly what freedom he had.

      +David Frigault Anyone with a knowledge of history knows the British were spread thin at the time. But saying a "few thousand" to minimize Americas accomplishment (and make your point) doesn't say much for your statement as a whole.

    • @uberdan101
      @uberdan101 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +David Frigault You're missing the point, David. Yes, the British military was spread incredibly thin, but the small army they sent to the Americas was still vastly superior to the rag-tag militia slapped together by the Americans. These men knowingly signed up for treason, expecting to lose, but being willing to die for something they believed in. That is the point of this scene, not how the Americans actually won the war (with the assistance of numerous other countries).

    Am I the only one who notices that 2 of Heath Legder's pivotal roles early in his career were characters who had speeches to gain what he wanted in the shadow of someone hanging? Watch a Knight's Tale. When he is trying to convince Roland and Wat to fake being a knight so he can compete in jousting while someone is hanging in the background and then here he sees these people hanging then has a speech by his future wife to convince some of the townspeople to join the militia.
