The late Laurie cunningham from WBA to real madrid was a tragic story but he was the pioneer of top english players particularly playing in the la liga for barca & real madrid..he could be as successful as lineker, beckham & mcmanaman if not for that tragedy that ended his life..
The foreigners were better than the English technically as a rule. In general. But there were some notable exceptions over the years. Too many to mention here but in the 80s you had guys like Glenn Hoddle, John Barnes, Peter Beardsley, Chris Waddle, Paul Gascoigne etc and in the 90s you had the likes of Paul Scholes, David Beckham etc who would not look out of place technically in any game, anywhere.
Barca in 86' were not a huge club outside of Spain, Lineker was sold to Barca as Kendall believed he was going to be their next manager, however, that went down the shitter!
Interesting he didn't mention the money. His wages went up massively when he went there. He was on around 1500 a week at Everton, then goes to Barca on 6000 a week. Must have played a part in going there.
@@spa2damax Of course, but when your wages are going up by a big amount, it has to have an influence. It would do for many people, in any walk of life.
No he didn't say British sides were bad at football. He said that they weren't technical. Our best players at the time were big fast strong hard. He's just talking about technical skills.
Is Gary trying to speak with a foreign accent 🤔😆 and why did at the time our clubs keep winning the European Cup if foreign players were better technically 🙄
Have you run a poll of a typical key board muppet speaking on behalf of the population? Gary is a hero who thinks for himself and not afraid to question inequality and greed.
Great goal scorer. One of the greatest English forwards. Very articulate. Very bright to be able to learn Spanish and Japanese. Definitely not a muppet.
@@spa2damax Probably because he has aired some political views. I didn't take much notice what he said but it did upset some people. Why I didn't take any notice of his views is because he is an ex footballer and unless it was racist or extreme right or left I couldn't care less.
What a great experience. Great striker no doubt
Some People think he's think he's a goofy normal presenter
Underrated player acc I never knew he played for Barca until recently
Think only you think that

Yeah he was amazing
Had everything 👍🏾
Brilliant player
I remember when I scored a hat trick in El classico.
It's no big deal.
We have all done it.
Levels. 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿
I remember people hating him for going to Spain and speaking Spanish.
And people hate him now because he reckons he was racially abused because of his dark skin🤔...what a moron...what dark skin?
Yeh, the brutal days with the national front all over England.under thatcher
No, you do not.
Really ? That level of ignorance?
@leonleon2276 Come on. We got Reagan here, but we did not that level of ignorance.
To be upset for learning other language ? That's really strange
Legend

@Lucius Annaeus Bit like Glasgow Celtic and Rangers? In fact Celtic won the European cup in 1968!

That's true. But Terry was the manager in Barcelona at that time, right ?
@@marvinbrando722 For the first year. Then Cruyff came in. He put him on the wing, then Lineker left the year after.
The money is hardly part of the memories? And of course money is a factor but it's also Barca?
@@spa2damax Of course, but when your wages are going up by a big amount, it has to have an influence. It would do for many people, in any walk of life.
When Barcelona come calling no one says no, money didn’t matter
It will never come home!!!
Only brit football player to be respected
What the fuck are you talking about!?
Why is he using the JoeyBartonlingo method when he can actually speak English and Spanish?! 🤣🤣🤣
Can't believe he runs down British sides in the 80s as they won heaps of European trophies 😮

As a Spurs fan I used to love this man, now I can't stand to look at or hear him, woke hypocrite.
@Tarquine45 here's one of them
Not bad for a black guy
Does he realize how disliked he has become to so many English people?

@@lovetennisevents Yes, Gary is awonderful human being, a credit to the human race and one of the first to pretend to take in an illegal migrant!

I thought he was black. He must have the Michael Jackson gene.
