      Shin splints. When I walk, I feel completely normal. As soon as I make the tiniest hop, I feel pain like my shin bones are going to snap in two. I stopped trying to get back into running and this pain went away. I was really bummed out because I used to enjoy running.

      @@stayfro123 Ah man. That stinks. Sometimes just finding the right shoe can make all the difference in the world. Coupling that with an insole to support the arch and the rest of the structure up your leg will have reduced loads placed on them. Another thing you can do to alleviate pressure in the midfoot is instead of crossing the lace to the other side, to simply skip crossing and instead pass the lace up vertically one hole on both sides and then keep on lacing normally. Also, if you have a bunion, instead of skipping the first two holes completely, you can just skip the hole closer to it.

    I've only been running for 3 years and in that short time my feet have become deformed, my toes are scrunched. 2 months working from home barefoot and getting altras my feet have rebounded. Imo most shoes on the market are too skinny and even my foot is not deemed wide at the retail foot tool. I'm sticking with altras and will try vibrams in time

      I’ve loved Altras. Used them for several years without issue. I just branched out to some other models to try but that Altra toe space is hard to beat! This lacing technique can certainly help when venturing into other styles that may squeeze a bit up front 👍 Thanks for watching!

      yeah it's frustrating as hell. I think my feet are considered on the border of medium/wide and I swear 75% of running shoes squeeze the sides of my feet

    Noticeable improvement, so simple. Probably won’t keep my pinky from breaking through the side of my sneaker eventually but at least I’m comfortable.

    The one thing that holds me back from running is bad weather. When it rains, my parents would discourage me from getting outside for a run to prevent getting sick. That's pretty much it, gonna go for a run using this technique because my new shoes has been hurting lately, will update after the run :)

    Do you ever have any issues with your foot bulging out the side? I have a similar shaped foot and was contemplating whether this was a sign of needing a wider shoe

      Sorry for the delayed response! Thanks for watching! As far as wide shoes, the best option would be to try and find a specialty running store near you and have someone experienced fit you for the best shoe for your foot shape. All the running shoe brands will have variety of shoes that fit different foot types - the trick is finding the right one! If it’s your toes that are generally squeezed Altra shoes may be a good options. They are a zero drop shoe, however, so you may want to work your way into them. Good luck!

    Another tip for streching new shoes put water on a ziploc bag,put the bag in the shoe toe area and put them in the freezer overnight.

    Hello ur video is help full for me,thanks a lot,
    I run barefoot but barefoot shoes in india very costly and i feel heavy as well when i were shoe,
    Kindly suggest me very light shoe and broad feet shoe,

    • @FOREVERun
      @FOREVERun  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the (very) late reply! I’m not super familiar, unfortunately, with “barefoot” style footwear to give you a good option. I’ve liked shoes from Altra that have the low to the ground feel with a nice open toe box for plenty of toe splay and wiggle room, but also provides good underfoot protection. Best of luck! Thanks for watching!

    What about just parallel lacing instead?

    If you have a wide foot like myself just buy the wide or extra wide size,Asics and Nike sell them,probably other brands also.

    I have the same issue. I always blow out my shoes prematurely in the same spot you pointed out. I was thinking maybe elastic laces might help as well. Thoughts on that? I'm new to running and having tried elastic laces yet.

    • @FOREVERun
      @FOREVERun  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Elastic lacing could help allow for some give over that area. To be honest, I haven’t tried elastic lacing before. You’ll have to let me know how it goes! I know a lot of triathletes will use elastic lacing because it allows for quick transitioning into shoes without wasting time tying the laces. Thanks for watching!

      @@FOREVERun As mentioned in my first comment, I'm new to running. I just started C25K last week (completed W2D2 today), so take my opinion with a huge grain of salt. I outfitted one of my shoes with the "Xpand no-tie round lacing system" (elastic) and left the original "standard" laces on the other shoe. I laced them both the same - slightly different from how you did it: lace across from the bottom set of holes, up the sides for the next two holes, then start crossing the laces after the exit the third hole. I also used the heel slip technique at the top for both. During my "runs" I noticed no discernible difference between the two as far as comfort or consistency, however, I suspect this could change over longer duration (perhaps better or worse) - time will tell. I was also running on pavement so didn't have the challenge of variable terrain that trail running would. I have some new shoes coming shortly, so perhaps I will continue this experiment long term to see how things progress with the laces. One cool thing is that I've been able to slip them on with zero adjustment and go, so if they hold up longer term, I may stick with them. :)

      @FOREVERun  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michael Auskings interesting! Nice experiment! I can imagine the elastic laces are going to have a nice hug without feeling overly restrictive. And that box lacing technique that you did should feel pretty nice over the top of foot and reduce the pressure on the sides. Keep me posted on it 👍 Thanks for sharing!
