Whats up Fellas, I'm finally here to help y'all become absolute CHAD Pilots, and take your J hooks to the next level. Be that Badass that gets reactions out of blueberries about how sick you are, and make SLs trust you to make better plays.
This tutorial was made with the intentions that you have taken the HELI TUTORIAL in SQUAD already, and have an understanding of the basic controls. FEATHERING Collective IS important but in this TUT I give an explanation of how to land ASAP and quick, since everything is always tryna kill you 🙃

I always liked flying transports in the BF games, but when I saw your stuff I realized I should probably get my PC running again and pick up Squad. Seeing people sharing knowledge lowers a big barrier for me ✌🏻

I was skeptical at first about the keyboard controls, but I gave it a try in training and it works really well. I will keep practicing in training until i feel confident enought to try this in a real game. Thanks bro!

Real life helo pilot here, the “axis” instrument is your attitude indicator or more specifically either an ADI or HSI on the glass display or MFD.
Haven’t played Squad yet but I suspect it’s harder to learn how to fly than games like Arma and Battlefield because they’ve made it more realistic but that’s just a guess.

as a pilot with 4k hours, i like watching these tutorials and giving tips in the comments if this doesn't work for others. you don't NEED to hold ctrl while J hooking, I know a lot of people have a hard time with hand to eye coordination or trying to put 3 fingers on 1 side of your keyboard all at once. For me, I do it the same way DomePeacer did it, but instead I yank my mouse to the direction I wanna J hook. Make sure your DPI is high and your heli sensitivity is at max (4.00), a lot of mouse space also helps. I've never really liked doing CTRL J hook landings as it doesn't feel as percise as your mouse does. It will take some time to comprehend that sensitivity, but as soon as you get used to it you'll be one of the pilots everyone wants to fly with.

I didnt really get it at first but after 2 days practice no sleep i was able to finally do a j hook. Very thankful for this information.
I use thumb button up for collective up and thumb button down for collective down. The pitch up and pitch down keys do make it more smoooth though

Omg, all this time I could have just crank up the sensitivity to do aggressive maneuvers. I used to play Rising Storm 2, and I have no problem doing J hook and stuff because the default settings are perfect. And when I tried Squad the helicopters feel so sluggish, and when I tried to do J hook it felt like turning a bus. Thanks man!

good tutorial. squad is one game that I suck at flying, I even considered getting a joystick (I hear it’s even worse) but this one makes it seem really easy. also I really appreciate that you show us your controls and sensitivity settings.

Great tutorial dude and I usually dont say this. Changed my controls to yours and I can finally say I can j-hook decently (in the middle of no where lmao) but now gotta work on doing it on a pad

@@DomePeacer oooo I just thought of this, but one time I was flying high af and my tail rotor broke and I went into a tail spin. Knowing this meant certain death but I had a long ways to fall, I was wondering if there was a way to survive a tail spin? I tried inverting the helo like in Flight to even right side up and hope to slow down enough (I failed miserably). But wonder if its hypothetically possible?
I landed it perfect first time. Was like,I'm a god. "HONEY WATCH WHAT I DO" fail next 3 times. Good tutorial though

I saved you some time hahaha. Yeah space bar works as well! But keyboard use should definitely be implemented in people's J Hooks

as someone who played a shit ton of arma and dabbled in a bit of DCS, i think squad really needs to rework the entire flight model, its quite literally harder to fly them with a joystick then with a mouse which it should be the opposite, i just decided to get my joystick back out to mess with squad ( i normally only play infanty) and the way the inertia is held for tiny movements is like the heli is trying to throw itself at the slightest input and continue going that direction

Hi great tutorial and the key binds are really helpful. Are you playing with 400 dpi on your mouse? Because with the pitch and roll sensitivty being at 4, does my dpi matter? I feel more consistent at 2 or 3 because when I play at 4 with 800dpi, any small micro movements while im landing and im all over the place. At my current dpi(800) with 2 or 3 sensitivity, I don't move/lift my wrist when flying and manuevering. Just trying to find consistency, thanks for the guide
I've never touched my DPI settings, so if default is 400 then yup that's what I play! If your DPI is higher, 4.0 might be too high in-game, but essentially you want to have the ability to maneuver the heli with small wrist movements, instead of using a foot of the mouse pad.

Start off with the huey it will make your life a million times easier.
It does make life easier, but for that exact reason I do not recommend it. I know people who will "only fly Huey's" because they don't want to take the time to learn mi-8 or Blackhawk. just like anything in life, learn the hardest part first and the rest is an absolute cake walk 👍🏼

I was a really good pilot in bf3 and 4. I cant get it in squad. I used controllers in bf, so maybe thats why, but man, ive got like 10 hours with the helo in training, and probably 600 crashes and maybe 1 successful landing haha

The instrument with blue and red is called a horizontal horizon indicator.
And I'm a arma hellie piolat and yer squads is hard and confusing to learn in my opinion

how do you able to land in the center of helipad? I keep missing it when doing J-hook. Also how to calculate when to do the j-hook manuver to exactly land where the LZ is marked?

SA330 and Z8 are definitely 2 different beasts... They feel clunky and heavier, just keep practicing and getting used to them!
How do I increase my yaw sensitivity it’s extremely low and makes it hard to j hook

Squads flying is not exactly unique I'd say. Arma 3's advanced flight system is pretty much the same, they just have a different physics engine which in my opinion makes the whole thing a whole lot easier.

Whatever windows default would be brother. I've never changed it, just 4.0 sensitivities in game
Not trying to make money with the videos... so monetization is turned off on your videos? I believe if it is you should be able to upload copyrighted music, just put the credits in the description, maybe even in the corner of the video while the song is playing.. being it ever so small that you could miss it but it usually should work.. youre not the first to use such music...
My account isn't monetized, so I can post them. But they stick 30 second ads in front of my videos... Which just doesn't sit right with me. Watching ads in front of a 2min long video is ridiculous to me lol. Just want people to be able to click and go
