This is the definition of perfection. the costumes, lighting, voices, acting, everything there is worthy of a blockbuster movie. it's 2019 so I might be late to watch it, but fantastic job anyhow. the way you showed Batman's self-conflict was incredible and my favorite part. this fan film leaves a scar.
***** I know this is late, but I actually have high hopes for Jared Leto as Joker, because I feel he can bring that comic version of him to a live action even better than Jack Nicholson.
***** I actually like Jared Leto's Jokers look. Because they took a leap of faith in making him look a little diffrent. They took the Ledger riute and in my opinion it worked, I loke the look of Leto's Joker
I love how the actor who portrays Bruce really resembles and sounds like the one in the original animated series. I like how much attention they put to the details (I actually watched joker's preparation segment several times) and the actors move and talk naturally. it really has this feel and atmosphere more closer to the comics and animated series than the latest batman films (which I also liked a lot).
Mr21Daytime It's one thing to put on the costumes and do the parts. It's another thing to fully capture the atmosphere and personalities of said characters. And this movie...is doing it right.

As a Life long Batman Fan this was by far one of the best Batman Fan Films I have seen in quite some time it was gritty and it was everything Batman is Kudos to you guys for this amazing film
When should we expect the movie to hit theaters? My goodness, what a work of art: the characters, the staging, the costumes, the batsuit... everything is masterful. And the way Batman expresses about himself and Bruce... wonderful, very clever! You have my respects.
"Gotham's sick of Batman's conscious... so am I" What a great fucking concept to explore. The cinematography is phenomenal; the lighting creates such a gritty aesthetic and really adds to the mood and atmosphere, along with claustrophobic camera angles. The actors are surprisingly really good too. The subtle nuances of Joker's manic dialog captures his psyche so well. Totally underrated. Also, Harley's the kind of unhinged babe I'm usually attracted to, haha. Whoever made this has a very clear understanding of filmmaking and all of the necessary nuances - even the subtle details - needed to capture visual storytelling.
@Curtis Ball "did that kid do what i should have done years ago?" Absolutely! That's one thing i hate about batman, this politically correct stupid idea that if he kills the joker he becomes no better than him, that just makes batman capture joker every 5 minutesso he can escape and kill half of the city again. How many lives would have been saved if instead of capturing the joker every 5 minutes so he can escape and kill a bunch of people he just put him down for good? If i was that kid i would have told batman after killing the joker "my parents, and many others would be alive if you had done what i just did a long time ago. I blame you". That's why i love when he says in TDKR "All those people i murdered, by letting you live" i'm like "FINALLY YOU REALISED OBVIOUS YOU D"CKHEAD!"
After all these years, I now realize that from the moment he tells the story about the lion and the zebra, Joker sewed the seed in the kid’s head that he was going to kill him. He absolutely wanted this to happen, and he was telling us from the beginning that he would die tonight.
Oh shit you're right lol I remember seeing this almost a decade ago and was just rewatching it today (still holds up super well) and you're right, that was Joker's plan
Good story, good acting, good soundtrack, humorous without compromising the drama of it. Excellent action sequences. Very true to the canon to the point where this would work in an alternate universe comic. Best joker since heath ledger and a very convincing Batman with great dialogue and monologue. And the whole time I really thought I was in the gritty streets and alleyways of Gotham. I think DC studios needs you desperately.
Kevin Porter is just the perfect live action Batman and it's sad that Hollywood casting has become a popularity contest because this guy should have been in the Superman/Batman movie.
Hes not very well known enough for them to take the risk, since it can mean losses of millions of dollars. So they tend to choose bigger well known names.
punwisp Well you see the problem with that though is that no one has ever actually seen Affleck in the Bat suit and no one knows how he will act. So it seems to me that the bigger risk is casting someone that isn't really known for those kinds of movies.
They Audition the roles, so apparently he was convincing, regardless, it doesn't change my point. Hes still a safer bet, because he is more well known, and a proven actor. What would be worse is if they chose a actor no one has seen before. Thats quite risky, and all there DC movies save a couple have flopped. People assume the worse, ben will probably blow our minds away at his performance. this process happens all the time. Look at heath Ledger. Hathaway really wasn't bad either. The other sad thing, is it is rare to really see a movie match its cartoon variations, they tend to make it more adult/ realistic, while throwing there own spin on it, instead of copying a style. These guys def chose well for copying the batman from the games. Def looks the role. Least in batman form. The voice is pretty spot on too.
punwisp I will give Affleck a chance but, the movie itself already seems like it's gonna flop because they have one of the least proven actors playing the role of a villain even though he has never actually played the bad guy in his other movies.
This is why It's Hardest to be the Batman..... The Dark Knight does what He only can... But the PAIN remains.... Great document Batinthesun.... Keep it On...
I'd rather watch a season of this than anything DCEU is putting on screen. This Batman feels more authentic. Truly astonishing work, reminds me of Batman: the Animated Series.
Stumbled across this a few years ago and keep coming back. Despite not having the budget of movies or tv shows they still managed to create one of if not the best depictions of Gotham put to screen. This is how you make Gotham dark as hell without feeling overdone.

To say this is good is a biblical understatement.Damn it." Dying is easy" was just the icing on your obvious talent.Excelllent story telling and spot on delivery.I will be watching.
Love what they did with this film. They took a look at what Batman did through a psychological standpoint and made him question his own crusade as well as kept it grounded and based in reality, while also showing the real-life consequences and how Bruce Wayne deals with them as Batman. Aaron, you have really outdone yourself with this one.
Heath Ledger Joker: You know...a lot has changed since your old uncle Ledger's been away! A new Gotham (Gotham featured in B V S/ SS), a new Batman (Affleck replacing Bale)... EVEN A NEW JOKER (Leto)!
Why can't they just make a batman movie like this? Ben affleck was going to be like this, but after Zack Snyder stepped down, that other idiot director ruined justice league and all of the modern DC films
believe it or not the other idiot director was Josh Whedon they had to do a lot of different reshoots and too many hands in the pot. that's why Justice League it didn't suck but it could have been great
bruh calm down, all the zack snyder movies were trash besides MOS... all the other rcent films like aquaman, shazam and wonder woman are great... the new joker movie is the best movie of 2019... so idk why yall saying "other idiot director" and "modern DC films"
Snyder only directed 2 good films, 300 and the Dawn of the Dead retcon film. Snyder is an AWFUL editor and other than when he directs action sequences ( like the Batman warehouse fight scene in BvS ) Snyder is not really a good director. His ' vision for the DCEU was as bad as Whedon's plus Snyder is 50/50 in terms of ggod casting. Cavil, Affleck, Gal Gadot were good casting choices. Momoa was ok. Jesse Eisenberg & Ezra Milller were abominable casting choices. I tell you, im almost 60 years old, read TONS of DC comics, seen many DC hero tv shows & films and i guarantee you, that you put this Aaron Schonke as director/co-DCEU film forerunner with Geoff Johns, Bruce Timms & Paul Dini & we would FINALLY get an epic DCEU
@@Michael-ty5pq I agree Aquaman and Shazam was ass. Shazam was to cheesy and corny acting. Like they just made him to goofy. I know what they tried to do, by having him act as a kid, because he is a kid just in a adult body. But he was never like that. He was kinda like Spider-Man almost, with the puns and jokes and stuff. But this he was just to silly, like its stupid. I don't know why people liked it, its overrated. They tried to out do the Marvel films, but Marvel didn't try to hard on their films. As for Aquaman he's goofy too, he always smiling and grinning and shit like that. Like what the fuck, that's kinda creepy. His lines were cheesy asf. And the movie was wayyyy to similar to Thor's first film like come on. With the evil brother and shit. Its like they weren't even trying. And the corniest line ever on the film was this shit. "So, what do you want us to call you, 'King'?" "No, call me Ocean Master" Like goddamm what the fuck "Ocean Master" my man Patrick had betters lines in Insidious than that piece of shit. After that one line I just straight up walked out the AMC and left. That was just a waist of money. It really disappointed me.
This film is amazing, incredible, awesome! Easy to see that this is made by true fans of Batman publications, as they really understand and feel the characters and story. Excellent portrayals, especially Batman and the Joker. I think if Mark Hamill and/or Kevin Conroy ever stop voice-acting the Joker and Batman, then these actors from this film portraying those roles (Paul Molnar and Kevin Porter) should be the new voices. These men have done the best fan-made portrayals of Batman and the Joker I have ever seen on TH-cam!
Simply beautiful. The zebra analogy to me, is Joker showing batman that nature is cruel, and we should be cruel too. But batman believes in the goodness of humanity, he believes despite how much of an animal man can become, there is something more inside us. I love Batman's struggle with doubt and uncertainty because I deal with that everyday living with existiential OCD, and watching batman rely on his beliefs gives me hope. Thank you. Also, I think the kid would make a great concept for red hood in a future film!
Australian Myth the newer ones work very well as they have more armor plating than spandex just for me makes Batman look more hardcore although the Arkham games‘ suits are also less armor like and those look awesome too though I want to see an Arkham Origins style Batsuit in live action one of my favorite designs though this one is pretty good
I'm afraid that, with another Batman - to be played by Robert Pattinson - we will be back to the plated, padded, all-black look. It was done til exhaustion and I think we should stick to the Baftleck suit formula. Grey and Black, with just a bit of padding. At the very least, I would like to see the Telltale Batsuit.
Imagine what they could do with a Hollywood budget...bravo you guys.

I'm watching it in 2021 so you're not as late as you think!
@@ziauddinkhan5699 Oh hi then! Yeah I don't seem late anymore huh-
Pretty good for a fan made Batman film. Easily one the best one yet in my opinion. I hope to see more batinthesun Batman fan films in the future.
Bat In The Sun is more than just a fan film company IMO. Their quality is epic.
@ThejetermanRBLX afflecks batman is more of a flashpoint batman
I love how the actor who portrays Bruce really resembles and sounds like the one in the original animated series. I like how much attention they put to the details (I actually watched joker's preparation segment several times) and the actors move and talk naturally. it really has this feel and atmosphere more closer to the comics and animated series than the latest batman films (which I also liked a lot).
You are absolutely right. Everything about this vid especially batman and joker themselves resemble batman the animated series. That is very cool.
Mr21Daytime It's one thing to put on the costumes and do the parts. It's another thing to fully capture the atmosphere and personalities of said characters. And this movie...is doing it right.
it was great if he make batman in the movies
Kevin Porter is like the best Batman I’ve ever seen. The voice, the acting, the suit. He’s perfect for this role. And batinthesun does so freaking well with the directing and effects.

It is October 19, 2018 & this is still one of my all time favorite films. Pure genius in creating this!!
One of the best Batman films ever.
This is so much better than most of the actual Batman movies. Proof that tiny budgets can still produce great content. Thank you for making it.
That was a really good casting choice for Bruce Wayne!
ikr? its like theres batman from the 90s movies, joker from the animated series, and everything else from the dark knight movies with a bit of under the red hood, and a pinch of the killing joke
He has more fan films here on youtube, playing Bruce/Batman. He's perfect.
Not the look but everything else ...
The Batman logo used in this film is awesome.
original design!!! designed by Sean Schoenke who also wrote the score and original song "City of Scars"
Cool!
batinthesun what was the budget on that film and where did you find the actor for the joker?
+batinthesun We need this batsuit to be DLC in Arkham Knight!
+TallMist there is a suit like this one in arkham knight....
The best part is they nailed the emotional response that Batman is supposed to trigger. I mean this feels just like a live action comic with live-action Kevin Conroy!
I haven’t watched this since I was a young teenager. Don’t think I really appreciated it fully back then. How you guys managed to pull off something so brilliant is beyond me. Everyone that worked on this is obviously very talented.
thank you!
This is the closest fan film to a Hollywood movie that I’ve ever seen. Like, WOW. From the cinematography to the costumes to the acting, this is definitely worthy of the big screen. Amazing work, hope to see more!
Dear Warner Bros, please, hire this creative team to do a TV Series for you. This is a masterpiece.
Can you imagine the feels if Bruce Wayne were real? like imagine if there was this playboy millionaire that everyone thought was a douchebag. and then you found out that motherfucker left flowers where his parents died every chance he got. Shit would be sad as fuck.
F*ck I've never thought of that!

I remember when I watched this YEARS ago when my dad and I were still living in a flat! So nostalgic, and well made!
That was a *fan* film!? AMAZING!!!!!
When the kid said, "Why didn't you save my parents?" I actually got the feels....
I love how this film portrays The Joker as an actual threat rather than just being the ‘cool Batman villain’ that everyone loves, and how this film portrays Bats as a genuinely kind person who cares for the people of Gotham!
its been 9 years and I still watch this.......This is a true, positively, affirmatively, incredibly well done piece of art that should be placed in the batman hall of fame
THANK YOU!!!
Once again, "Bat In The Sun" has produced a film that must be ranked among the best depictions of The Batman.
Oscar worthy performances all around. Captivating, dramatic, and suspenseful all at the same time.
Congratulations!!!
Mark Simon (USN, 1981-1989)
The joker is so terrifying and menacing in this, I love this portrayal. Batman is also amazing from the fight scenes to his narrating voice

This guy has the perfect Batman voice! He sounds similar to Kevin Conroy.
Yeah, the cowls neck is pretty damn wide tho, if you ask me.
Edward Rabbit Yeah, I agree but his voice is still perfect.
Helps he's gorgeous, too....
Deborah Taylor ***** This guy is the PERFECT batman/Bruce Wayne. Forget all those hollywood actors who have played that role they're nowhere in this guy's league. He has the voice of batman and he looks just like Wayne.
Heck yeah! I was so thinking that too, Kevin Porter is my fav Batman next to Michael Keaton and Christian Bale even though Bale sounds like he has to take a massive dump lol
As a Life long Batman Fan this was by far one of the best Batman Fan Films I have seen in quite some time it was gritty and it was everything Batman is Kudos to you guys for this amazing film
I remember this! Saw this years ago and couldn't believe how good it was!!! Why can't Warner Brothers do Batman movies like this? WHY?!
I honestly thought joker was pissing on him 🤣
Same lol
I howled when they did the squirting-flower reveal. Fantastic! Lol!
Same here 😂 😂 😂 😂
Me too.
Not the only one mate
The best live action Batman film till this day.
When should we expect the movie to hit theaters? My goodness, what a work of art: the characters, the staging, the costumes, the batsuit... everything is masterful. And the way Batman expresses about himself and Bruce... wonderful, very clever! You have my respects.
"Gotham's sick of Batman's conscious... so am I"
What a great fucking concept to explore.
Whoever made this has a very clear understanding of filmmaking and all of the necessary nuances - even the subtle details - needed to capture visual storytelling.
this is amazing, the naration, the voices, i have such an arkham "feel" watching this, i guess its the suit, the way he walks
The suit of the original comics, the voice of Kevin Conroy, and the looks of Ben Affleck before BvS was even announced. Perfect Batman on the outside.
The directors face is perfect for the joker.
Just watched " dying is easy " and now I'm hooked to this channel.
Awsome work!
The dude playing Batman has the voice. Needs his own film with a huge budget. Get it done!
That kid was savage he killed the joker and told off batman
@Curtis Ball "did that kid do what i should have done years ago?"
Absolutely! If i was that kid i would have told batman after killing the joker
"my parents, and many others would be alive if you had done what i just did a long time ago. I blame you". That's why i love when he says in TDKR "All those people i murdered, by letting you live" i'm like "FINALLY YOU REALISED OBVIOUS YOU D"CKHEAD!"
Batman is righy killing is wrong and for crim. Only do self defense
@@Anonymousdeletedaccount... I know right? I get that he's just a kid but they could of asked him to at least try to act. It was honestly distracting

Jason Acosta yeah
Agreed. Awesome ending song as well
***** That's your opinion, but you have to admit, the villains were well portrayed as well as the rest of the characters.
***** I bet he'll use his "Daredevil" voice.
Who's to say he didn't want this kid to be the next Joker? After all, he did it with Tim Drake in "Return Of The Joker".
😂 did we see the same pile of crap?
Kevin Porter is just the perfect live action Batman and it's sad that Hollywood casting has become a popularity contest because this guy should have been in the Superman/Batman movie.
Omg i was just thinking that!!!!

This joker is way, waaay better than jared leto's joker. I love how he mutters shit to himself; he's creepy af.
I'd rather watch a season of this than anything DCEU is putting on screen. This Batman feels more authentic. Truly astonishing work, reminds me of Batman: the Animated Series.
Oh dó
This should be a TV show connected to Arrow and Flash with Kevin Porter as Batman that would be epic.
No
Nope
Oh, please. God, no! Besides, the CW was told that they can't use Batman.
Stumbled across this a few years ago and keep coming back. Despite not having the budget of movies or tv shows they still managed to create one of if not the best depictions of Gotham put to screen. This is how you make Gotham dark as hell without feeling overdone.
5 years later, "Batman: City of Scars" is still one of my all-time favorite videos on TH-cam! :)
Better interpretation than Jared Letto?

Trey Lepper Nah.

I never claimed to be speaking for everyone, I never said this exact thing needs to be a series, I never said the cast was perfect. My whole point was that massive companies with millions to throw away can't manage, but this was accomplished with so little.

You should direct the next batman
Love what they did with this film. They took a look at what Batman did through a psychological standpoint and made him question his own crusade as well as kept it grounded and based in reality, while also showing the real-life consequences and how Bruce Wayne deals with them as Batman. Aaron, you have really outdone yourself with this one.
Thank you, psychology is one of my favorite subjects, along with Batman :-) so putting them together in a film was a joy

I have to say, the girl playing Harley nails it!

@@elijahablaze Momoa not really for me. I wish they would've stuck with the comic look of Aquaman. Its just better.
"So, what do you want us to call you, 'King'?"
"No, call me Ocean Master"
Like goddamm what the fuck "Ocean Master" my man Patrick had betters lines in Insidious than that piece of shit.

The guy playing Batman is also the guy that played Punisher in super power beat down episode 12.
And people say the comic book batsuit doesn't work
Australian Myth I've always wanted to see a more comic styled suit in the movies. Afflecks suit is the closest so far.
It looks a little goofy in the Asylum & in the club.
John nacho Not really that trash ass movie
