First video of yours that I've seen, and I found it interesting enough to subscribe despite not especially being a rail person. I rowed crew while going to college in the Boston area almost 50 years ago, and I can't recall for certain whether I ever rowed under a train crossing the Charles at the BU Bridge, but I loved that you got a shot of one there in 2024. Now that I'm retired and take a road trip to the great American Southwest every year or so, I've started noticing historic train lines more. For instance, when I go hiking in very remote parts of Nevada, sometimes the only halfway decent road into an area will be the rail maintenance access road following near it. For instance, going south from Caliente, NV through Rainbow Canyon on my way to explore exotic aircraft crash sites. The road crosses under the railway several times, so I get to "chase" trains for views of both sides of them. And I get to guess whether standing water will swallow up my Prius or not, so far I've always made it, by getting out of the area anytime it rains for more than a few minutes.
Hi there. Thanks so much for your vivid and lively memories of Boston, and the Southwest. I really enjoyed them and thank you for watching! Hope to see you out there on the rails!
I actually saw number three, sadly I had no clue of it’s importance. I was pulling into Boston later that night on a northeast regional. I did get to see a northeast regional doubleheader though. I am mad at myself to this day for walking out without a shot of that train. I was literally on the track right next to it.😢😢😢
You should check out Freetown and New Bedford, MA. The MBTA is running Tests on the New Bedford line and as of this summer a CTC-1 was running tests with cars returning from CTRail.
Thanks for the great vid. The three flatcars in the MBTA work train are intriguing. I have often observed them on the Grand Junction in Cambridge. There was still a builder’s plate on one of them and I looked it up and found they were built for the army as tank transports in the Korean War era, 1953. They were originally supplied with standard Bettendorf trucks but now have heavy six wheel trucks. These appear identical to trucks used on the tenders of the big steam locos being phased out in that era. Does anyone have any info on this?
Im actually not sure!! I heard that one too, there were about 15 other railfans around when that shot was taken, so i have no clue who said that or what they said 😂
@@elliotspresentaions its a mix of luck, and just dedicating a lot of time to waiting around and listening for certain things. Some moves i get a heads up about beforehand, in railfan facebook groups
Its funny to see "C-1" cause i know as of 12/31/24 "C-2" was sitting down in Hyannis railroad yard next to M.C. engine repair shop with M.C.s Snow plow car im not sure when that happened but C-2 Is down there
1134 is sitting lifeless at Readville. Rochester had their hands full. I assume it will be shipped out to Rochester after 1131 or 1130 returns. 1134 was one my favorite locos.

I like how you edited this video, with a few bonus train cut scenes interspersed between your favorites. Your enthusiasm is a joy to hear!

1134 is done too so you got lucky at #10

@samstranghorwitz It was utter garbage I'm glad it's getting the treatment it needs.
2024 was great! Looking forward to 2025!
