(I think you’ve said you ordered one? )
It seems like bikes that have more than 2x HP to torque are gutless down low, and bikes that have less than 1.75 HP to torque are breathless up top. Gentlemen, I think we've found the middle ground. We should all request bikes like this with Ninja 650 to RS660 ergos, full fairings but not stupid looking like FZ1's due to tall handlebars, and this ratio of power and torque in either 2 or 3 cylinder engines with, honestly, 700-800cc's and a 425-ish pound wet weight including 5-ish gallons of gas because we all like to ride far. Other than that, near top spec suspension and brakes, and the only electronics I care for are ABS(adjustable at both axles with full off available), and cruise control. If they want to add TC, WC, and maybe throttle response, okay, but if that money could be put towards better baseline parts, or a better chassis, lighter weight, better engine, etc, then I'd prefer the minimal route and have riders control their traction, wheelies, and throttle the old fashioned way. Oh, lastly, a 1/5 or 1/6 turn throttle. Wringing the wrist full out sucks.
I had put a deposit down on a Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer after deciding this was probably too much for my second bike, but on a whim decided to go and test ride it. And it was at that moment that I knew what had to be done. I pick up the RS 660 on Friday.
Check out North American Warhorse Aprilia 660 video series as they strip a road going version for track only....prototype Ohlins shock, rears sets, etc...pretty cool stuff by the great crew at NA Warhorse
CBR650R has an i4 engine, where RS660 has a 270 degree i2 engine and thus the character and grunt of a V-twin. And furthermore it has incredible brakes. Similar looks maybe, similar experience.... absolutely not.
I have a Buell XB9 And love it more than anything but I know eventually I will not be able to find parts for it. So I’ve been looking at an Aprilia Tono V4 1100. But I kind of think you’ve just changed my mind
Great review & a very nice bike as well. I even don't mind the acid gold colour lol. The only thing that would stop me buying it is that I want to see if they do a Factory spec next year. I'm really tempted by this, but I just don't trust Aprillia for build quality. Think I'm going w/ Ducatti Supersport for my sport tour ride.
My neighbor literally just got the exact same bike, can confirm it’s amazing
“We needed something between a ninja 650 and an r6” what do you call the cbr650r? Stroked out 600 i4 with better low down power, and comfy ergos.... this is a cool bike tho 👍
Or a Street Triple. Or an F800R or Duke 890.
@@rightwingsafetysquad9872 I was referring to fully faired bikes but good pics 👍
Adjustable suspension, weight, race-readiness, electronics - I can go on
@@yammienoob and how does any of that take away from what I said? It’s a fully faired bike that’s got the comfort of a street bike. The performance similar to a 600 but with more low end power. And still has all the electronics you would need for the street. What about that isn’t a middle ground???
I love the stock sound of that bike.
So much for the break in period
"Break in periods" doesn't really exist anymore. It's all about heat cycles.
Ari did a video pretty much debunking break ins
Hard break in squad.
He is just using to to get money to support the next bike purchase, so he wont have to deal with the shit that the next owner is going to deal with.
People who think a honda CB300 getting a hard break in is in any way akin to a +100hp engine have 0 idea as to how different a new engine is to one that has been broken in.
@@Surpriseify I wonder if people that ride like that on a new bike that's not theirs or won't be theirs to keep would do the same if it was a bike they purchased and will keep it for themselves. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't yammie do proper break-ins on his previous videos on bikes he bought himself? You see that same thing on other youtube channels as well. I wouldn't want this bike just for the mere thought of what will go wrong later on down the road and will cost me money.
I am enamored with this intro
Interested to see how this review will compare to the Daytona 660 review in a few months
Cool bike. I think it’s dumb that some are putting it in the same class as the Trident. I’m really looking forward to your review of the Trident! I’ve ordered one and actually am first on the reserved list at my dealer here in MN! Still waiting for delivery! Spring is here and I’m jonesin’!! Any idea in when you’ll get yours? (I think you’ve said you ordered one? )
Why aren't we comparing the Ducati V2 and the RS 660? Didn't both manufacturers basically cut their larger displacement counterparts in half?
Great video
Do you think the rs660 is a ok beginner bike if i have self control and ride dirt bikes?
I had put a deposit down on a Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer after deciding this was probably too much for my second bike, but on a whim decided to go and test ride it. And it was at that moment that I knew what had to be done.
I pick up the RS 660 on Friday.
So, 2 years later, any ragrets?
Look at you, finally an aprilia fan boy
Finally
Nice - thanks Papa Yam
I think I'm starting to develop a slight crush on this, if not bike then platform..?
Check out North American Warhorse Aprilia 660 video series as they strip a road going version for track only....prototype Ohlins shock, rears sets, etc...pretty cool stuff by the great crew at NA Warhorse
What's aprilia like reliability wise? I've heard bad things about the electrics and stuff
I LOVE the purple color, I've been hoping for a really good purple colored bike. I would liek to see a Purple / Gray or silver.
How is that bike revolutionary? Isn't cbr650r exactly the same thing? Sports bike looks, comfortable and around 100hp?
CBR650R has an i4 engine, where RS660 has a 270 degree i2 engine and thus the character and grunt of a V-twin. And furthermore it has incredible brakes. Similar looks maybe, similar experience.... absolutely not.
5:37 well considering that I managed to wheelie my duke 125 I’d say anything can wheelie if you have the skill to do so.
I think the old 600 sport class actually discouraged people from riding.
When’s the review on Tuono 660, when’s the review on RS660 Trofeo?
"Giving it away for free"
After a monthly subscription fee, of course.
Isnt that the same as gambling?
Lol basically
I have a Buell XB9 And love it more than anything but I know eventually I will not be able to find parts for it. So I’ve been looking at an Aprilia Tono V4 1100. But I kind of think you’ve just changed my mind
When describing the desire for a lower trim RS660 its sounds like you’re describing more or less the trim spec of a 2023 or 2024 Honda CBR650R.
Thank you for the video. In your comparison video you said this probably is not a beginner bike. Do you still believe it?
Great review & a very nice bike as well. I even don't mind the acid gold colour lol. The only thing that would stop me buying it is that I want to see if they do a Factory spec next year. Although if not I would be happy to have this version & mod the suspension, especially the rear shock. There's a couple of nice Ohlins shocks & Andreani fork cartridges out for it already which are supposed to be transformative & really complete the package.
Still hoping for a full-fairing kit for the KTM 790, 890, 890R lineup. Best of both worlds.
just needs an RSV4 now 😍
Loved the handle bar. This bike seems like ducati monster 696 with fairings
