I’d sand it with 2500 grit and some water before applying the base coat then repeat the process with 2500 grit and water then put clear then buff it with some polish the result would be much better, I had rock chips on my front bumper and hood of a black car and did the same process and it was near perfect from 6 inches away. If you try it out then remember not to put pressure on the sandpaper and try to get only around the chip because you’ll make a pit in your paint just take your time go slow and check your work
Thank you so much for making this video! I went to the website for this product and didn't see any videos that they had made of how to use the product so I turned to TH-cam and you saved the day! I will be getting this product.
Best f150 channel on TH-cam. Man keep up the good work. I have learned so much off of your channel and have been able to do so many more things to my truck thanks to you. Great job.
Wow!!! What a great compliment. Thank you so much for saying that and thank you for the support. Comments like these make me keep me pushing. Have a great weekend brother!
Great video. Appreciate how you showed how the product works and when to use it. Results are amazing. Just got my pint set in and about to put it to test.
THANK YOU! I have a 2018 F-150 XLT in this color and have a similar situation. I was on the fence on what to buy and had this and another product as the final contenders but this sealed the deal. I appreciate you taking the time to give your tips and tricks as I will without question buy this now. I'm giving this a thumbs up and subscribing.
YOU ARE THE MAN! Thank you so much for the kind words. You won’t be disappointed, this stuff is really great. Very satisfying walking up to your truck and trying to find the scratch’s that were bothering you for years lol.
Yes it does! It’s a perfect match to the paint but when you first put it it’s slightly darker before drying completely. After it’s dry it’s a near perfect match.
@@AutoHeadz Okay, awesome! I purchased the same brand in the color match for my Honda and I was worried. It’s still drying. I’ll be patient! Thanks for your video!
Hey I bought granite crystal metallic base color paint for a scratch. It blended well but didn’t put primer I have primer from my first car does it matter what clear coat I put I’m sorry not primer clear coat. Does it matter what clear coat I use or does it have to be granite metallic clear coat ??
The gouge and scratch in your paint in front of your mirror is highlighted because that rock dented the metal, but when you step away after applying the paint, it isn't so bad. There isn't much you can do for the dent, but I think the paint looks great. They have a product that has both the brush and pen all in one that might have probably given a smoother application. The brush being for really big spots, and the pen for smaller ones. I'm glad you found an economic way to fix your car up. Now I have to hit up my Subie after a rough tussle with some downed trees on a back road. I can see how using the pen might be a better option for me than using the brush, but since I'm probably not going to stop trailblazing, I'm going to get the brush/pen combo. Wish me luck 😅
@@LastTrump7 ideally you'd want to layer on enough coats so the scratch is higher than the surface of the panel, then wet sand it flat and polish back to a shine. Chris Fix has a top notch video on filling scratches so they're as inconspicuous as possible. You gotta put the work in but it's pretty amazing the results you can get.
@@AutoHeadzI feel as if you should’ve clay bar, then a wax and grease remover before applying aswell. It looks good at first but I’m curious on it’s longevity with this application method of yours

So whats the pros and cons to using clearcoat rather then buffing it out?
That needs wet sanding and primer, but still better than before.
I would relocate the F-150 tag and put it on the scratched area!!
Looks good I hate getting behind a truck hauling dirt/stone. Like them driving lights.
Thanks man! I hear you. It’s the worst getting stuck behind those guys. Just grinding my teeth the whole time.
And 2 years later how did the paint hold?
Not bad actually, check out this video. I replaced it last year with these. th-cam.com/video/ibOX7CQMDLA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JRpDWC1EzYy5YNZ-

@Christina Wright any update on your touch up? I just ordered this paint for my truck. Thanks
Absolutely fantastic.
Shockingly good.

Hahah good luck! If you aren’t getting a scratch here in there you aren’t having fun! Thanks for watching. ✌🏻
Has the paint touch ups held up since this video? Did they reflake?
No they have amazingly held up great.
@@AutoHeadzdo you find waxing over those spots after they cured helps them to smooth out?

Naw
This might be the worst part of cars ugh the paint
That a great time to do it. Didn’t want to stray too far off the video though. This process can be intimidating for some.

Eveytime u say bird crap i 😂
😂🤣
A handful of these problems could have been resovled with a machine polish. The scratch on the door, and the bird dropping, etc.
Great point. If you have a polishing tool, that is a great option.

@@iroh5733 So far so good. I used isopropyl alcohol prior to application.
