    Unfortunately the whole Hans situation set a precedent for irrational circumstantial 'evidence' to be used to accuse others of cheating. Obviously Magnus isnt a lunatic like Kramnik, but the others who dogpiled on Hans with absolutely baseless claims set the precedent for Kramnik to do the same. Of course without the WCC's backing, suddenly this nonsensical witchhunting seems far more irrational.

    • @darreltan1694
      @darreltan1694 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ZyICjdUXAHCwLUDHlFk5yFVe I mean it's as baseless as anything Kramnik did with his 'statistics'. A player cheating when he was young online doesn't mean he is likely to cheat over the board. That's like saying people who illegally stream shows are likely to rob a DVD shop. The difference in consequence and premeditation required is massive.
      And whoever Hans lawyer was, he obviously knew he was never gonna get the sum he asked for. It was just a tactic to get the other parties on the negotiation table - who knows what they settled for in the end.

But there are a 1000 ways to cheat, if you want to.I have technical ideas how to implement cheating in live tournaments, but I would never use or sell them. And believe me, it is extremely difficult for any security to figure it out. Online chess is an invitation to cheating, but Kramniks claims are weak in the case of Danya. In court Kramnik would get a serious call to order and the case would be dismissed with a serious fine for Kramnik. That is at least my take.

    I think a more appropriate analogy for Danya would be the police driving the wrong way when they are chasing a criminal. We allow them to break traffic laws for the greater good. Or even the training of firefighters who often have to set things on fire. The game he uses the engine in was worthless. And he didn't use it with the intention of taking advantage.

Hikaru and Danya are only known because they are streamers, with all due respect they didn't bring much to chess at all. Kramnik, among many other things, revived and proved to the world how strong the berlin defense is. Which major opening which stood the test of modern engines did Fischer or Tal bring to chess? Not talking about Magnus as we don't have much time gone by and he spent half of his top level career with those modern engines.
      I'm not saying Kramnik was better than the others or anything. I'm saying that dismissing the guy because "I play chess since 3 years and I don't know him therefore he's unknown" is an idiotic stance. you just have no culture of the game, and your ignorance of this game is a proof of it. Which is absolutely okay (we don't all play chess for its history, it's just a game), as long as you don't brag about your lack of culture as you did in your initial comment.
      You sound exactly like someone saying, idk, Laplace is a nobody because no one knows him. It woudln't be true, it would be idiotic, it would just show that you have zero culture about math history. Which wouldn't be a problem unless you start acting cocky with your math culture.
