    Got pint a year ago. I watched videos from a lot of different channels of people learning. That helped me, 15 min and I was already obsessed. Confidence and respect for the board, that’s how you learn.

    Just got mine about a month ago. I'm 62 years old (probably out of my mind) and my wife and I have now got 17 miles on our XR. You're braver than me with no safety gear... but you also are doing a lot better than me on the first ride. I wonder how many miles you've got on your Onewheel and how you're riding now? It's taken us 17 miles (8.5 miles apiece) to feel comfortable enough to ride without needing a spotter to hold onto, but hey I'm old... Great exercise and starting to be really fun.

      I've ridden a couple more miles and def have gotten more comfortable riding it. I don't ride it quite often, but I do cruise around the neighborhood every now and then. I did start wearing a helmet FYI.

    Oh that's so my first ride except I fell backwards and landed on my back taking most of the impact on my elbows. Not pretty and lots of blood but at 66 yo I'm in and got back on that damn horse. Onewheel, one world, one love and One Life so Live it!!!!

    You’re first time was mine first 10 lol. FYI: when your first get on, don’t push down on the front with a lot of weight. Just enough for the board to level itself.

    "Are you gonna watch me die out here?" Hah! Thanks for the upload. It's helpful to see a legit true-to-life first try from a regular dude. My pint should be here within 12 hours - a little xmas present I picked up for myself. I've been tooling around the house on my daughter's hoverboard and got the hang of it pretty quick to try and show her how easy it is to learn. It's fun but I have been looking at the Onewheel and e-unicycles (those can haul ass!) for a while but it was dorking around on the hoverboard that gave me the urge to float. Merry x-mas!

    • @ras0ne
      @ras0ne  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment! The hoverboards are a little different as are the e-cycles. Check out my review video. I made it after I had the OneWheel for about a week. I ended up buying one, which was unfortunately stolen about a month ago. The one tip I give everyone is don't try to balance yourself (like an indo board) let the OneWheel balance itself.

      The years of skateboarding have made me quite fearless to busting my ass. I will say eating crap going 10+ mph has put a new fear in me though. Wear a helmet!

    I'll be on mine in a week hopefully; I'm a board sporting guy too. Have you become one with the wheel yet, I can see your first instincts were to try manual it but I've seen vid's saying it's all about keeping the legs stable and not trying to make it go but just going, trust the tech, like using the force Luke. But this is pretty epic tech skeptical fail material, well done

      Oh yeah, I should have checked for another post, your are at one!
      I'll need to post a vid of myself soon, I'm looking into using a couple retractable key holder reels attached to magnets attached to a solid rubber dogs ball with a hole for a rope to ...attach to the top of a Onewheel fender. I'm hoping that I can hold the board to my feet (like with the flight fin's) yet also maintaining a wider stance and contact with the pressure pad whilst doing hops and jumps. Although it does mean having to balance with only one arm out, but then I'm sure you know who Bethany Hamilton is! Anyway, still work in progress but here is the same idea from a skateboard learning aid. My idea is to also have the grip (ball) held up between your thighs by the retractable reels (so hand free)... th-cam.com/video/ythLL9RC1-U/w-d-xo.html

    (read at your will)
    hello!
    curently here from 2022. im 16 and in highschool, i have been a huge fan of onewheel for 4 years now (not even joking) even till this very day, i was wondering and curious if you still ride your onewheel if not can i pls somehow have it if you dont anymore? i know this is kinda weired for me to ask but its just that want to get to school and my basketball practice in a more faster, less stressful and easier way im rlly fund on going late most of the time lol. i walk 18-20mins to school every day, if im lucky my friend parent will drop me off. your probally thinking that i should ask my parents but my parent arent rlly the type that give me what i want, they rlly didnt since i was little just only on my brithdays, they just give me what i need and im grateful for what i have and understanding that things arent rlly going their way and been trying so hard not to give them anymore strees. but anyways besides that, the point is that if your onewheel isnt rlly in use right now and it still works can i pls somehow get it, it would be a rlly huge honor if i did. sorry if this is a lot to read, hope your are doing good today. God Bless! :)

      My Onewheel was stolen about a year go, so I can't help you on that front. You should look into getting a bike. Way better option for getting around than a Onewheel in my opinion and hella cheap.

    • @ras0ne

      Got used to it pretty quick. The trick is to let the tech do the balancing for you.

    I thought it was self balancing

    • @ras0ne
      @ras0ne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is. if you've never ridden one before, your first inclination when getting on is to "balance" it yourself, but you soon learn to let it balance itself.

      @@ras0ne thank u. I was really considering getting one but my buddy broke his collarbone and had to get reconstructive surgery on his shoulder from falling off, and he was a professional skateboarder back in the days believe it or not! My other friend fell off and got hurt pretty bad. I live close to the beach I see people on them looks like they’re having fun. I want some type of toy maybe I’ll get a sail bike or learn how to kite surf

    • @ras0ne
      @ras0ne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the issue is people get comfortable going 10+ mph not knowing busting your ass from those speeds is no joke. When I got comfortable riding it I would do 15+ mph and it took one spill (luckily I was in the grass) to realize these things are serious machines. After than I wore a helmet is just cruised at a reasonable speed and things were fine.

      @@ras0ne after having a back surgery that changed my life, freed me of 10 years of pain and made me a new man, I’m not willing to risk hurting myself again. Lol. At least not so easily, I see these off road electric scooters that look pretty fun, haul butt.
