      @@davidreruk3924 as was said above, the CIS didn't have the navy size that the Empire did, but it had much more naval quality in my opinion. Their fleets diversity led to a more resilient structure, capable of going up against a much larger range of opponents and still having the tools to win. Imperial naval doctrine focused almost entirely on large capital ships and offered little to no effective support for them, resulting in their constant defeats at the hands of much smaller rebel forces utilizing fighter and bomber craft against the capital ships of the Empire, which had minimal point defense coverage.

    • @BoostedMonkey05

      The best navy still goes to the New Republic and the later Galactic Alliance because of the New Class Modernization Program. The Fifth Fleet was the most powerful naval fleet in the galaxy as it was only formed with the new class ships including 2 best designed ships in star wars, the Nebula-class Star Destroyer and the Endurance-class Fleet Carrier. Fighter complements in the Endurance would still include the old work horses with new legs and new toys in combination with the E-Wing Starfighter and K-Wing Starfighter.

    • @ironvader502
      @ironvader502 5 ปีที่แล้ว +46

      Nah, they had a much bigger problem. Their tactic relied on outnumbering the Republic at any given time and battle heaviyl, but most of their territorry was sparsely populated, poor and barrely industrialized, aswell as disconnected from each other in the Outer Rim. The CIS eventually just became incapable of replacing the losses their navy sustained, while the Republic was cranking out Venators, and late in the War even early Victory- and Imperator-Class Stardestroyers without an end. All their battledroids on the ground don't matter if they can't produce fleets large enough to break through Republic Lines and land them on a planet.

    • @TheTank1900
      @TheTank1900 5 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      Actually, while the Outer Rim was sparsely populated, it was not as a whole barely industrialized, given that the Republic pre-Clone Wars had given megacorporations essentially carte-blanche to do what they wanted with the outer rim, resultuing in many worlds that are essentially barren but others that are strongholds of the same megacorportations that formed the CIS, hugely industrialized, though not as developed as the Core Worlds.

      According to Kalani, a super tactical droid, the CIS had a 75% chance of winning the war. But in Heir to the Jedi we find out the Jedi and force are a fulcrum variable so the actual chance is probably closer to 50%

      The Sci-fi Show Was Kalani aware that the Supreme Chancellor and Darth Sideous (Dooku's Master) were the same person? Also Heir to the Jedi is part of Legends now if I'm recalling correctly.
      Graham Baxter The CIS had a much smaller political foundation to build an Empire upon. For a would be dictator taking over the Republic by use of a massive distraction on the level of the war with the CIS makes much more sense. He had both Order 66 and the shutdown codes to ensure that end.

Specifically, in a DS game. “Star Wars the clone wars: Jedi Alliance.” The ship was named the Devastation, and instead of 2 ion cannons, one on each side, the ship had one cannon mounted on the front, which was never fired in the game but is assumed to be a prototype super laser, as the ship was powered by Kyber crystals.

The specialization and ability to work together effectively makes the fleet as a whole a formidable enemy to face. While I personally dislike some of the ship designs, I just think they look weird, the combined power and might of the separatist navy makes for a terrifying and inspiring foe.

    A few oversights here and there.
    The Recusant posesses 11 Turbolasers of varying sizes, but it is armed with 102 Laser Cannons, so it's safe to assume that the Light Destroyer is more of a capital sized screening vessel, rather than a capital-killer. Similarly, the Munificent has 38 Point-Defense Laser Cannons, so I fail to see how these things are supposed to be unable to defend themselves against strike craft. The DH-Omni is also said to be equipped with a number of proton bombs.
    Lastly, not every Subjugator had Ion Pulse Cannons on their port and starboard sides, in fact the only other known vessel of the Subjugator-class than the Malevolence, the Devastation, had an experimental forward facing planet-killing weapon. I think it's fair to assume that every Subjugator-class Star Dreadnought was a unique design.

    The problem of having a large compliment of varied in design, but limited in purpose ships is that you're simply more likely to end up having the wrong ship doing the wrong task at the wrong time. It takes far greater logistics and planning to make sure every ship gets deployed correctly in the correct situation. Yet, even still, in the chaos of battle, the situation may change and you may find that your current fleet composition of specialized ships is unsuited to the battle you are now facing. Though the individual ships themselves may be far more suited to their specialized tasks than more generalized ships, their mission profile is much lower. You may not always have need of specialized ships in one area, but may be heavily taxed on specialized ships of another area.
    Not only that, but in terms of production capacity, if you're devoting resources to specialized ships that simply aren't seeing much action at that moment in anticipation of their later use, or have a large number of specialized ships left over from battles you previously won but are now facing a different type of engagement to which they are not suited, a more general purpose enemy design may simply outnumber you in the field compared to the ships you *are* using.
    In this instance, the specialization of the CIS navy may have contributed to their loss in the war. You often see them caught off guard, and in rapidly changing circumstances to which the more reactive and flexible Republic navy was able to adapt to.
    Simply put, a specialized ship can win you the battle, but a general purpose ship can win you the war.

    The CIS looks great on paper and in theory can outperform the Republic fleet, but it variety works against it. Their ships were so specialised that they had little use in other roles. The chances of having exactly the combination of vessels the admirals needed in any given situation were remote. Ships were often pressed into roles they weren’t suited for to cover. Supply chains also suffer as maintaining a wide variety of ships and crews is harder. The republic by comparison churned out two or three capital ship designs at any given moment. While not as impressive the commanders knew they had some capacity to fight in any given role and the Republic navy soon out grew the CIS on every front.
