    That 2012 Redskins team was so fun. It’s really a shame that RG3 had to get injured because I believe that team could have made it to the NFCCG at least once with that squad.

    As a Cowboys fan I remember that game winning TD Morris had against his old team quite well. I think our OC didn't utilize Morris as well as he could have. Zeke was unreal his rookie year, but Zeke might have had more left in his tank in the playoffs if he took less carries and had less wear on his body. Morris did seem like he wasn't totally washed at this point either.

    Alfred Morris was and is one of my favorite football players of all time. I still have a Redskins t-shirt with his name and number on the back of it. That story about him still having his 1991 Mazda really endeared him to me. I was not the happiest of campers when I found out that he was traded to Dallas, but I'm glad that he got to finish his career.

    • @BrotherBalance
      @BrotherBalance 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I really wish he would have had the opportunity to land in a spot where he was actually given the respect that he earned for the seasons that he put in for Washington and have a team at least pick him up as their feature back and at least attempt to surround him for success and I can only imagine the career that he potentially could have had we're just the tiniest things done slightly different.
      But knowing him he would say that what happened happened and it happened for a reason and he's not going to question it he's just going to take what's in front of him and make the best out of what he can. He's always the type that was never looking around at other people seeing what they have and thinking to himself they don't deserve that I do or that they are wasting something valuable that's never what he saw he would see other people's Fortunes in life and blessings and instead of feeling jealousy or pity he would feel genuine Joy for the riches and successes of others regardless of where he was positioned in life at the time. So you never have to wonder after the interactions ended and your by yourself and when you look back on it you never have to question was he just saying that was he just being nice to be nice or anything other than wow that is a wonderful human being who would give you the shirt of his back if he had it to give. I hated the fact that we got rid of Alfred Morris after the 2015 season. 2012 was always the season of dreams for me and Morris was part of that season. I loved seeing the guy run, and his running attack could put pressure off of RG3 when it came time for throws, or even made him a great decoy for if and when RG3 would decide to run. When Cousins was the starter in 2015, he was a great weapon for Kirk. Then, not only did he not get another contract from us, but he got picked up by Dallas. It hurt seeing that happen

    • @BrotherBalance

      They definitely over utilized Alfred a few times at Washington but they at the time felt like they had to considering they were in the running for the playoffs the first year and you can even make an excuse for the second year because of RG3 going down.
      But sometimes I would sit there and watch them call his number over and over in packages that set him up with so many players in the Box that honestly he probably had so much more in him to give if he wasn't just grinded into opposing defenses showing a lot of times eight in the Box usually not going to end up with the best yards per carry when that's what you're running into. LOL 😆
      Craziest thing is he still did somehow have a very good yards per carry average considering his touches and my God the defensive packages and schemes that constantly were showing that all hands on deck for the Run and yet still see him do his magic just like he did back in high school just somehow some way he was still moving. LOL

I can’t tell you how pissed I was in 2019 when Wisconsin, my favorite team, went into Champaign undefeated and ranked No. 6 and lost to an Illinois team that was 2-4 at the time.

    2012 was the first year I played Fantasy Football. I picked Morris up on the waiver wire after the first week, based on a column I read online and he helped me win the league, as I gradually figured out what I was doing! Looking through the comments lots of others had Fantasy success on his back! What a legend.

    Mike Lombardi, ex Browns GM, said on the Pat Mcafee Show that Morris struggled to pass block and catching the ball out of the back field. Lombardi went into explain that pass blocking and receiving the ball is a bigger priority than just running the ball through holes. #GoBrowns #DAWGPOUND

  • @youngkeazy2806
    @youngkeazy2806 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don’t think people understand how good Morris was. To put things in perspective lots of backs are considered good for making highlights. They would play games where they would have mediocre runs, and then hit one or two runs that go for 30-40+ yards. Morris was completely different. He would go the entire game wearing out defenses. He would turn runs that should be tackles for a loss, and turn them into 7 yard gains. And he would do this consistently.
    Sure he wasn’t shifty like lessens McCoy, or he wasn’t trucking guys left and right like Lynch, but when he got the ball he had the best vision. He knew exactly where to go for the best possible gain. And he was underrated and underpaid. It doesn’t sit right with me he didn’t get to start for a decent team.

    Biggest thing I remember about Alfred Morris. After his initial success a reporter asked why he still drove a beat up Honda. He went on an explanation on how he manages his money, nothing is guaranteed in life and football...it was then I knew this guy was going to stick around. He could still be a good starting RB in the league in a cycle committee backfield. I am shocked the Giants cut him last year after his very good 2020. Hope to see him as a coach one day, he has the mental makeup for it.

    His story, as uplifting as it is, really puts into perspective what an iron man Frank Gore really is. This is a TALENTED dude who proved himself for a couple years and still couldn't be a starter in his late 20s.

    As a Giants fan, I went from hating Alfred Morris (due to him being so good on a division rival) to actually kind of loving him. We signed him during that year when Saquon tore his ACL, and we were just signing any running back who could learn our playbook. Of the guys we picked up, he was actually one of the better ones. I remember him scoring both of our touchdowns when we upset the Seahawks. Even if he only ever played 9 games for us, I still remember him fondly.

    Dang, good draft Redskins had in 2012! Thanks for highlighting a guy that I honestly didn't know anything about. This was the period where I ducked out of football while fighting a severe illness of a couple of years and so, didn't follow Washington or hear anything about him. Sounds like someone I'd love to have a beer with or as a neighbour. Great vid, as always...and you still have the best closing music in the business always used against fun footage.

    My dad loved Alfred Morris. Said while he liked guys like Portis in between the era of Morris and Riggins, Morris was what he felt was a real bell cow at a time teams started moving towards time shares. Especially following RGIII's rookie season you really got to see he could handle it beyond the threat of a running QB in the backfield. The thing I think made him so effective when some other backs may have struggled at his draft position, having to change positions as described in the video, is his willingness to follow the scheme. Shanahans scheme tends to make the most out of the backfield carrier anyways, but he just fit that like a glove because of his patience and understanding that if he followed the blocks good things would happen. So many RB's cant make it in the league just because of that seemingly simple requirement. If you shared with my dad his stats overall, hed probably be surprised at how quickly it went after the first three years. You just never know when the tread comes off the tires with that positon.
