    Your wine goals for 2025 are so inspiring! I appreciate how you’ve thoughtfully reflected on your wine collecting experience and how each goal aligns with a deeper appreciation for wine - not just as a passion, but as a way to connect with people and create beautiful memories. I especially resonate with your focus on wine travel. There truly is no substitute for visiting wineries, meeting the people behind the vines and the wines, and experiencing the wine in its very place of origin. Your goals are so motivating, and I love how they reflect your enthusiasm for broader exploration and further enhancing your expertise and experiences. Can’t wait to see how these goals shape your 2025 wine journey!

    I laughed at the “I know that’s not going to happen” re: setting a wine budget. Researching and finding/buying wine is as satisfying to me as the rest of the wine experience. Happy to have not bought a large quantity of wine since July. I've got my collection down to 258 and aim to reduce it further over 2024 and 2025. I think around 150-200 wines at any given time is all I need. I'm also planning on going for underrated collectable wines and increasing the average price per bottle in my cellar from its current $20.38 as I get rid of cheap wine and if I buy I'll buy higher quality and varied wines.

    My only feedback to your goals would be to reconsider cutting back on California this year.
    I'm not the wine collector that goes big into verticals, such as having to own the same expression every year. I tend to buy the best in class for each vintage across the globe. Port in 17. Chile in 21, Italy in 19 everything in 16 but that year was just insane. You get the point.
    2023 is supposed to be fantastic for California, both napa and Sonoma, and we are likely to see many of those start to be released in 2025. I don't disagree that you may be overweight in Cali wines right now, but I'd be hard pressed to correct that with the 2023 vintage specifically. Just a thought.

    While the entire concept of goals may or may not be a factor when opening “that bottle” with friends and certainly could seem more truly American in its teleological, if not puritanical, character than the provenience of one’s wine collection, it certainly makes sense in the context of your ongoing systematic quest to become a more knowledgable consumer, as well as internet wine personality/authority.
    Your focussed thirst for experience and your excellent level of analysis make your videos very enjoyable.
    My ongoing goal has been to become much more confident in anticipating good/interesting wine and food pairings as most of the time over here it is about dinners rather than private wine tastings. If you felt competent to speak to that subject, your opinion would be of great interest, especially given that you are clearly a regular consumer of premier wines.
    In any case, happy holidays and many thanks already for your upcoming videos.

      Thanks very much! Appreciate the kind words and the inquiry.

      @larsio72 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ thank you for taking the time to reply. I see that you focus really on the pure experience of a great wine, which certainly is legitimate, if not superior for tasting. I remember drinking a 2014 Secret de Sabon in May with steamed artichokes with a home made aioli and it being complete magic.
