Camden Marr I agree with that. He seems to have the passion of a father in law towards a man who took well care of his daughter. Only the daughter of someone like winston could marry a man like Wick.
I have a feeling Winston is basically the man who was the “Baba Yaga” before John. He was the most feared assassin and like John wanted to get out. However, Winston learned that there is no “out” so his solution to having a peaceful life amongst the underworld is to live on top of it as a humble hotel owner. He isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty but prefers to be as civilized as a gangster can be. I think the reason he likes John is because he sees himself in him and was happy to see him achieve what he couldn’t and actually get out of the underworld. So Winston is doing everything he can to ensure John finally get have his peace.
He shot John in his armoured suit jacket. Every time. Observation: An assassin with skills sufficient to survive to Winston's age doesn't miss the mark unless he means to. Conclusion: He wasn't trying to kill John but he needed to make it look good because the Adjudicator was right there. Observation: Someone like Winston has Ice water where his blood should be, sentiment is a luxury to indulged but never placed ahead of his own survival. Conclusion: He had a reason for trying to spare John. Hypothesis: Whatever game of Chess Winston is playing with the high table and the Elder? Winston thinks John still has a part to play. Moreover John has a history of vendettas that is quickly becoming legend and he has killed all comers even a High Table death squad So he believes he can talk John out of trying to kill him down the line.

Agree in full with your assessment. The reason is that Winston wants the Continental and John Wick playing in the shadows. And now he has both. If it was a real betrayal of Wick, Winston would have gone for the head. Wick was in close range of Winston at the time of the shooting, he could easily close the gap, take the gun away from Winston and kill all. He chose to not fight there. Parabellum.

I think the end of Parabellum is the "ultimate trust" between Winston and John in efforts to overthrow the High Table and install Winston as its new head. That way Winston can grant John the escape from the life he wanted without hesitation. The idea that he might also have been Helen's father is also an intriguing idea, and I would absolutely not be surprised if that explained Winston's attitude towards John.
I believe it’s because he’s using John as a Trojan horse. And as long as he keeps him close, Winston will stand above to take over after John takes out the high table

we know the mark is sacred, as much as the Continental rule. Winston handed John the mark in order prevent them from being put in the pit against each other again, since the markbearer is prohibited from being a target by the one who owes the debt.
It’s pretty obvious where the story is headed…winston wants to overturn the high table and become its new leader and john is the man who can make that happen. John in the light, Winston in the shadows
Pretty sure the Marker given to Wick by Winston was Sophia’s, since he obviously couldn’t go home to get it. Been awhile, so I may have to rewatch all 3 films to check.
Winston has a lot scene on jw why becuz he is the missing villain my theory is he is the one who set up jw he is also responsible of the death of jw dog to unleashed his anger becuz winston knows that he is retired and jw is the only skilled assasin to kill all the high table winston is a genius high table see his loyalty to them and jw cant touch him two parties are being played by winston why? Becuz winston wants to become the highest table itself.
now that i think about well i didn't thought about it too thoroughly maybe you're right Winston's probably keeping wick alive for the long run once he kills all members of the high table Winston will probably betray john and takeover as the leader of the high table and be the one running the international crime syndicates. then again there probably other alternatives john might realize Winston intends to doble cross him and might lkll him in the end and run away, but the hunt for johns life anf the 14million dollar contract will still be there, or here's anew one he would end his life as a hitman and end up running the high table himself be it's new leader as a way to keep himself alive but would have to run the criminal underworld everywhere to ensure his safety and any one who comes for him won't have choice but to walk away as he is the new kingpin, or he could take his own life to end the hunts but it's likely he wont do that, since he wants to live to remember his wife, but if he runs the high table as the new boss he might control the continentals and have Charon run them for him as a thank you gift but i think him being a boss would be a more preferable end then him being hunted like a dog. sure that might no t be the life he wanted but hey at least he lives and he free in a sense but even so, even if he ran a way successor for the bosses of the continetal would come after him as he be viewed as a threat, more or less john running it would be way better than being hunted or killing people himself plus he gets to remember his wife yet sometimes to fight the monsters that haunt you is to become a monster yourself more or less the king of monsters as a way to control what can't be controlled.
I remember seeing these movies for the first time and couldn’t put my finger on who Winston remind me of and it was a Kick ass Grandpa lol 😂 only because my Grandpa didn’t say many words but shit got done to his liking without him even talking most times 😂😂.. but I do really like the one where he’s Helen’s Dad tho
Everyone says that Winston could've shot John in the head but he didn't. Am I the only one who sees John put his hand to his face when Winston shot him, just before John fell off the roof? @@jamespersons5086 true, but he's tries to temper John at times. Plus, Winston asking John "which man he wants to be" seems to have more meaning when you consider this theory

we know the mark is sacred, as much as the Continental rule. Winston handed John the mark in order prevent them from being put in the pit against each other again, since the markbearer is prohibited from being a target by the one who owes the debt.
Winston is John's dad. He is the only one that calls him by his full name. He does it on purpose and never anything else.
John Wick 4 is awesome. I think Winston is either John Wicks father inlaw or literally John's father.
It’s pretty obvious where the story is headed…winston wants to overturn the high table and become its new leader and john is the man who can make that happen. John in the light, Winston in the shadows
awesome video. dive deeper into this please!
It would be an interesting story to tell. John Wick Origins: Winston.
Pretty sure the Marker given to Wick by Winston was Sophia’s, since he obviously couldn’t go home to get it. Been awhile, so I may have to rewatch all 3 films to check.
Didnt he grab the marker from the safe deposit box at the jewish bank stash?
Why did Ian McShane ever make that light drama series 'Lovejoy' when he's such a good film actor.. Hard times or something..
The Marker he gave him at the end of the second movie is the Marker that Santino held.....
Damn I’ve been trying for years to find that song at the end
RUN OR CHASE THE HOTEL MANAGMENT?
:p
"runs the Continental Hotel in New York."
I would love to see a tv series with more of the world around the continental and maybe bring some of the payday game into that story!
They are making a series called the continental. I think its coming next year.

@@prarambh1589 there are multiple videos on TH-cam talking about it. Just enter it in the search area.
When is the next John wick movie going to be filmed.. can't wait
I saw in a Sherlock Holmes story that the High Table existed in 1880's and Moriarty was the Elder.
Winston is John's father in law!🌎💘💰
now that i think about well i didn't thought about it too thoroughly maybe you're right Winston's probably keeping wick alive for the long run once he kills all members of the high table Winston will probably betray john and takeover as the leader of the high table and be the one running the international crime syndicates. then again there probably other alternatives john might realize Winston intends to doble cross him and might lkll him in the end and run away, but the hunt for johns life anf the 14million dollar contract will still be there, or here's anew one he would end his life as a hitman and end up running the high table himself be it's new leader as a way to keep himself alive but would have to run the criminal underworld everywhere to ensure his safety and any one who comes for him won't have choice but to walk away as he is the new kingpin, or he could take his own life to end the hunts but it's likely he wont do that, since he wants to live to remember his wife, but if he runs the high table as the new boss he might control the continentals and have Charon run them for him as a thank you gift but i think him being a boss would be a more preferable end then him being hunted like a dog. sure that might no t be the life he wanted but hey at least he lives and he free in a sense but even so, even if he ran a way successor for the bosses of the continetal would come after him as he be viewed as a threat, more or less john running it would be way better than being hunted or killing people himself plus he gets to remember his wife yet sometimes to fight the monsters that haunt you is to become a monster yourself more or less the king of monsters as a way to control what can't be controlled.
Everyone says that Winston
could've shot John in the
head but he didn't. Am I the
only one who sees John put
his hand to his face when Winston shot him, just before
John fell off the roof?
There is one rule that Winston
always follows and that is
"Look Out For No.1". 🤨
Believe me he's no Lady Olena.
She had every right to kill Joffery. 🙄
I also like Cheron I think that's how you spell his name also you can't forget
Jimmy
Winston might see his younger self, in John. He has a soft spot for him
Cool guy meets even cooler guy
In John sick 4 they say I think the high table has been around since Aztec times
Winston's infamous quote is advice to Johnathan but he is a slow student. John still lives with the animals, shares his bed with the animals
yea, he gon take 5 movies to figure it out but....
he dun gon figure it out
@@urmama54 it will always be up to the director, he was already stupid enough to have his finger cut off
well played..
I think Winston actually wants John to secede him as the head of the Continental
Now that is a leap of faith. John to hot headed.
@@jamespersons5086 true, but he's tries to temper John at times. Plus, Winston asking John "which man he wants to be" seems to have more meaning when you consider this theory
RIP Charon
Winston should of know John had a bullet proof suit more or less. He shot him in the body, not the head. If Winston wanted John dead. I think he would of delivered a head shot. Especially when he was only a few feet from him in the shooting sequence.
I always thought father in law but I can see being johns father. Perhaps like sophias child John was intentionally hidden but then found out and brought into the world against Winstons wishes?
I wish I could afford all those gold coins, plus I thought this was a interview
John wick is neo before the fall of men
agreed
I used to want to be like spiderman, ironman. But now i just want to be like Winston.
