This video will tell you exactly how to test the Chlorine level and PH level of your swimming pool! We will show you exactly how it is done using a Tailor test kit!
The above kit is under $20 and a great buy!
I much prefer this version with the yellow chlorine test
I hope this video will encourage new pool owners into testing their own water and learning how to maintain their own polos!
This Chlorine pool test is the way to go when trying to decide what to use to test your water with daily. I recommend this kit and the Trouble-free pools full test kit. They are invaluable tools when checking your pool chemicals.
    Thanks for watching!

Rarely do these videos. explain it, but If your alkalinity is too high, for example, 8.0, you need to add acid To lower the alkalinity. If you're alkalinity is too low, for example, 6.8. you need to add soda ash to neutralize the acid and raise your alkalinity. The idea alkalinity is right around 7.4. All they ever show is how you put in five drops and look at the colors with no explanation other than "my pool is fine" or "my pool is out of balance." So to recap, alkalinity too high, needs acid. Alkalinity too low, too much acid.

      Spot on.
I use ph up to raise and muriatic acid to lower.
Rain will make your pool more acidic while shock and liquid chlorine raise the ph level ( or lower acidity, however you want to say it)
I try adding chlorine to raise the ph initially, since I need it anyway and if that isn't going to work I use ph up like you said.

@@DarrenG Thanks for the chlorine tip. I had always thought you get the ph right right before adding chlorine. Good to know.

I always use my finger to push a little out and haven't had any issues. There are no warnings about touching them in the packaging etc. so I assumed so but consult... some professional before touching them I guess lol

I need help! I cannot get the PH of my pool up. Its a 24ft round above ground. I have put (not even kidding) 20 cups of ph+ in it and then 2kg of baking soda and still it won't budge. Chlorine is thru the roof. I've left the cover off and the chlorine level is slowly coming down. I have no idea what to do now

Now it's high at 8 because I just shocked it.. so I had to add some acid today.. It fluctuates based on when I put chlorine in last.
I keep it within a range instead of trying to keep it bang on a number.

How do figure? 7.8 is on the high side so if anything, it'd need to be lowered not raised
