I agree with 2. I dismissed the signs you have discussed, thinking I imagined her interest in me. Now, when I consider several of your topics together, I now recognize her interest. I feel like cartoon character that gets the huge wooden gavel whacked on his head, and he sees several small Tweety Birds circling around his head. Thanks for valuable clues.
Haha, I love that cartoon analogy! 😄 Sometimes, we miss the signs until they hit us all at once. That's the power of *stoic life lessons*-they help us stay aware and grounded. Glad it clicked for you! Have you found any particular lesson from Stoicism that you apply in your daily life?
@@winstoic_offical yes, I have found some very useful. I believe it was Marcus Aurelius that said something like ‘waste no time discussing what a good man should be, just be one’. I was a Technical Second Level Manager in the IT Department of a large company. I dreaded the long meetings with endless discussions and the ‘what ifs’. I was kind of known among my peers for saying ‘you can talk about it or do it’. I think I also used Stoicism when I was a Platoon Sergeant in the Army. I dont believe just because you were given a bad time in your early training and in lower ranks that you’re obligated to be a jerk to your subordinates. I wanted to train my guys to be more diligent and to learn how to react in difficult times and train for it. I wanted trained soldiers ready for anything, not guys that knew I could order them to do pushups for almost any reason. I intend to read more and do light study on some of the better known Stoic philosophers as time permits. Thanks again for great video.
Wow, I love the insights you've shared! 🙌 That Marcus Aurelius quote is spot on-sometimes action speaks louder than words, especially when it comes to Stoic life lessons. I can totally relate to your approach in both the IT world and the military; being a leader isn't about exerting power but about leading by example and teaching resilience. 💪 I think those experiences align perfectly with Stoicism-staying calm, focused, and practical. Keep studying those philosophers! I’m sure the wisdom will continue to serve you. 🙏
@@winstoic_offical I agree with staying calm and focused. I recall an emergency loss of electrical power at a work site. It involved going into the basement and connecting a very large cable into a socket, clamping it down evenly, and starting the emergency power take over. An older technician panicked and he passed me about 3 times trying to go down and back up the stairs, in the dark, worrying about a detailed manual, tools, and whatever. I went down the stairs once, found the cable and connected it, then the pack of shortened instructons in a laminated pouch, and took it over to a window so I could see it. I read about 6 instructions at a time, executed them, went back to window, read 6 more, execute, etc. It was running on emergency power in about 5 minutes, while the older guy watched. We had both been trained on the procedure, he just panicked. Thankfully, it was after I separated from the military and was at a civilian job. My take on the Stoic Lesson - dont panic, stay focused, use your knowledge and training until you succeed.
What an incredible story! 🙌 That’s a perfect example of how Stoic life lessons can be applied in real-world situations. Staying calm and focused in the face of chaos is exactly what the Stoics taught-when you remain grounded, you can make better decisions and act with precision. It’s about trusting your training and not letting panic cloud your judgment.

The more we live in truth, the more respect we earn. Do you find that being truthful helps you gain respect in your relationships too?
@@winstoic_offical I developed that conclusion, that being honest and straightforward will only command respect even when it is painful. But time and time again, it has never helped me, and I purposely developed manipulative lying as a joke and that works every time, no matter the situation.
That's an interesting perspective! Honesty and straightforwardness are indeed key values, but they can sometimes be challenging to navigate in a world that rewards cunning behavior. However, Stoic life lessons teach us that integrity and staying true to our principles build lasting respect-not just from others, but from ourselves
