This is my favorite iPhone design ever, that’s why I got the 13 mini. I love this compact size and squared off edges. The iPhone 5 is my favorite iPhone ever.
I had the 13 mini and upgraded to the 14 pro, i miss the smaller size. Apple needs to bring the mini back

I had an iPhone 5 and broke it. I called my protection service and they sent me a iPhone 5S on mistake. It was my favorite iPhone ever. Best design, super lightweight and very snappy for its time. And the Apple leather cases they had for them was absolute perfection
Possibly not a mistake since Apple discontinued the 5 after the 5c and 5s were introduced.
Getting the 1st gen SE today, just love the smaller and compact design just like the iPhone 5/5s. One of the best designs of all time.

I think the SE is the best iPhone that they ever made. It has the same design as the 5s and the 5 while having the internals of the 6s . I Hope the se4 uses the internals of the 14 pro while using the 13 mini design. I think price was the prohibiting factor for the mini iPhones from selling that well.

This iPhone 5 design was supported for 10 years till the SE 2016 which just lost support in September.
On that term iphone 6 design will be supported for 15-20 years cuz iphone se 2022 is a thing

The 5s was my first. Loved it. The body was small and nice to hold. I guess the battery was decently matched with my usage.

The only Apple devices I ever owned are an iPhone 5S on iOS 12.5.7, an iPhone 3G on iOS 4.2.1 and a 2012 iPad 3 on iOS 9.3.6. my First experience with smartphones was the LG K4 in 2019, when I was 13. Now I'm 17 and I'm going to be 18 on April 23. My parents are most likely going to get me an iPad Air 5, and that would be my very first serious Apple Device. I like old technology, so in 2020 I started a phone collection. Since then, I have been searching for either an iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S or iPhone 5 on iOS 6. I love the old iOS interface designed by Steve Jobs. I remember going on a school trip when I was in "Seconda Media" (Italian equivalent of 7th grade in the USA) and during this school trip I saw an iPad on iOS 4 or 5. I kept staring at the iPad looking at the interface, the "Slide to Unlock", the 30 pin cable to recharge the device itself, the older non-borderless design, the square inside the home button... I just love this nostalgic retro technology. Even though I never had an iPad on iOS 4 5 or 6, and I was only 6 years old when iOS 6 came out, so I never had a chance to use it. I searched for iOS 6 iPhone 5's everywhere on eBay and other websites. The "best" price I could find was an ugly 350 Euros... Which is way too much for something that is this old. I still love the iPhone 5 (even though I never owned an iPhone 5...) and especially iOS 5 and iOS 6. Not only because I like old retro tech, but also because I like the "Old Apple" and the interface of older iOS versions where apps looked like, and were inspired by, real life. The Maps app looked like a geographic map, the Notes looked like a real book where you can take notes, plus I loved the old iOS wallpapers. I love these kinds of videos where TH-camrs explore older tech products and their respective operative systems. Technically I have the "Realistic" Apple interface on my iPhone 3G... But I still think iOS 5 and 6 look better. I'd love to be able to downgrade my iPad 3 from iOS 9.3.6 to iOS 6, since I don't have any other device that, at one point, supported this specific OS. But one day, I'm sure I can get my hands on an iPhone 5 with iOS 6. Or a 4S with iOS 5 or 6. Back when Operative Systems had "character" and style. Now it's just the same "Minimalist" stuff over and over, with few exceptions. I don't know how and why I'm feeling nostalgic for an OS I never used before. But seriously, it looks so cool. IOS 6 was goated back in 2012. Yes iOS 17 is cool too, but back then Apple was more creative, and so was Android. I hope I can get a device running this iOS one day... The sad truth is that Mini fans are very vocal on the internet, but in real life the mini phone sales are poor. So sadly, it got cancelled.

The boxes of newer phones make me want to never buy a new phone again. It's like you give them over a grand for one cell phone and they hate you so much they won't even give you a charger.
Got to experience this design in my first iPhone.. the original se. I’d always had android before then but I loved the iPhone 4/5 designs, as well as the lightning port. I also just wanted a smaller device. Been on iOS since. Tbh I’d still use that 1st gen se if I could.. unfortunately I only had 16gb so that ain’t happening. I had the 2nd se next and recently upgraded to a 13 pro over a broken camera in my 2nd gen.
I still pull my old 5/se out sometimes and wish I could have a small phone like it again.

I loved that hardware design. I loved my 5S because of it. I however don't miss the loom of iOS 6 when I had my iPhone 4. I was one of the people who was excited about the change to iOS 7 visuals.

I have the iPad 4th generation still on iOS 6.01 and a black iPhone 5 still on iOS 6 as well in my old Apple collection

My first iPhone 📱, was the iPhone 5, I got my iPhone 5, when it was new and when the Sprint Stores 🏬 were around too, because Sprint Stores 🏬 went out of business in 2019 to, my Brothers and Sisters.

I tried to keep the lowest version of ios on an old 5s i still have and compare to my newest iphone. i had auto update turned off and i would wake up and learn that it did an auto update while i was asleep.
So I bought a iPhone 4s with iOS 6 I installed it when it was done instant regret it’s so slow and too new LOL
Man back then when I would get a phone,it was like my friend 😂 I would find so many ways to get the most out of it,and think of new possibilities like starting a blog,connecting with new people,playing the latest 3D mobile games and etc lol and I would keep that phone for years and almost wanna cry when I finally upgraded. Now every time I get a new phone I set it up and get right back to shaking my head at work notifications lmao.
That coolbooter jailbreak tweak is fun. Dual-booting with other iOS versions. Only works on 32-bit devices sadly

14:16 The fact that that old phone can still text, however only via Wi-Fi, is kinda creepy. However, that default notification sound, called “Tritone”, which is still on iOS to this day, screams nostalgia I never experienced but have been hit by.

Text notifications also show up quicker for me on iOS 6 than on 15/16, sometimes 10-15sec quicker. Unexpectedly quite helpful (and they said buying old phones was silly)

this is pretty cool. the 5 in space gray was my first iPhone. i actually still have it in physically good condition. if anything the debris inside the case i had it in scratched the aluminum the most. ima see if i can power her up now lol

Maybe I'm late here after few months but just one tip for "dead batteries"; if you don't want to open the phone, iPhone in this case, try to enter recovery mode by plugging in the charger cable while holding the home button and leave it for certain amount of time (preferably with 2 amp charger or more - it won't hurt the phone) and try to boot it up. I succeeded few times.

There is a way to get a link to an old version of some apps, if the app store still has them hosted. Not sure of the specifics, but it's possible I believe.
A long time ago, I used to use iPhones when I still lived with my parents since they used them as well. The iPhone 5 was definitely a breath of fresh air cause I personally found the skeuomorphic UI ugly and unsightly. I updated IMMEDIATELY.

The channel iClassic did a review on this very same phone bought "new" never opened on eBay. The back of the box had a whole in the plastic too.
That’s the third instance I’ve seen of that in like 3 seconds of reading comments! It must be a go to seller strategy to reseal boxes?
That plastic shrinks over the years, it is very common for those holes to appear since the box begins to become "big"

I remember my sister's first gen iPhone SE, an imported unit from US, seller advertised it as unlocked but surprised to see a Verizon sim installed. Still the best design for me, though I got a 13 Pro and she upgraded to a regular 13. I rarely get typos on it despite my huge hands.
I get typos often on my 6s+ and it’s annoying having to go back and fix it. The keys on the keyboard are so tiny.

iOS 6 was the first iOS I used when I switched from Android over a decade ago until they absolutely botched iOS. I'd use iOS 6 any day over even the current bug-filled iOS 16.
If it was new, why did it have a SIM card already installed?
iPhones sold in the US by default come with a carrier plan and a sim preinstalled from the factory, and for an extra $20-$30 they can be bought unlocked.
They are also locked to that carrier, you can contact the carrier to unlock your sim status to change to any other carrier.
I never had the original 5 but I did have the 5S. It was a nice phone. I had to replace it with the 8+ because of the battery swelling.

I too had 5S the best phone imo… and then after 3 yrs changed to 7 plus (2 yrs old already used by bro) and then now got 13… IDK if I ever will come out of Apple ecosystem
