    Tom and Dave you are both doing a great job. I live across the pond and I'm breaking into the electrical business as a retirement job. I've found the videos informative even though I'm having a little trouble understanding your terminology and humor. I have found that you have too many "Arm Chair Quarterbacks" in your viewing audience, remember if your not part of the solution your part of the problem "Fellow Sparks". It is easy to throw stones when your sitting in the stands. We also have a problem with the younger generation not wanting to work in the "Trades". Some of the major things that causes them to shy away from it is the "Old Crotchety Bastards" (master electricians that are in debt to all there ex-wives and can't retire), the hard work and little pay. I will part by saying keep up the good work Tom I look forward to the next videos when the "Third seat" will be filled.

    I had to work my Bank Holiday too, but I always think it is nice to work a bank holiday and take it off another weekend when the Motorways are nice and clear, and the beaches are less crowded. Take off a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday break if you can, to make up for losing your bank hols. What a nice neat install.

    This is the first video of yours I've ever seen and I can't believe that's an acceptable state for a wiring panel to be in. No wonder you're pulling it out. Electrical work looks very different than what I'm used to seeing in America.

    • @krashd
      @krashd 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fact Americans seem to loathe any form of regulation and have a lot of very old buildings of their own makes me doubt that every building in your country has tip-top wiring.

    I am an electrician in Ireland, moved here from the UK, most of the old dis boards that I replace have the old DPZ ceramic bottle fuses fitted, (most have been wound with wire), no rcd protection, lots of borrowed neutrals, some have been in for 40+ years. All on a TN system.

    Enjoyed your video. Live in the US. Worked on UK laboratory equipment. It was a challenge to go from the British electrical code to the NEC (National Electrical Code, USA). At least the field engineers who did the install and repairs spoke English.
    Only a few working days and we were operational.
    The German engineers who installed equipment in a nearby building did not speak English. It took them 6 months to do the install. Why I was not contacted to use my fractured German (humor) I'll never know. Oh, well, no logic to it, all personalities and politics. Thanks. Good luck.

    Hi, you have added a note to state that the EM sign is the wrong one. It isn't so please don't change it. That arrow has a couple of meanings, one is "Progress up from here" and "Progress through and on from here" so the latter meaning is applicable for this so as above it is actually the correct sign for this location. The only meaning of the sign down arrow is "Progress down from here" and is the most misused/incorrectly used sign. Your average corridor as well should have the arrow up sign as well to progress through and on from here but nearly always it's the wrong pointing down one. Keep up the good work, love the high standard and general attention to detail, Its refreshing to see.

    Quick tip that I learned is to avoid you LED flickering just change your frames per second to a number divisible by the electricity hertz rate. UK is 50hz so change your frame rate to 25 or 50 or 75 etc. As standard lots of cameras and go pros are set to 30/60/120 which is great for USA hertz but not UK. 👍
