Fun fact: while the heavy may seem like a mindless brute he's actually very smart as he claims to have a PHD in russian literature, knows how to play poker, his favorite book is Tsar Hunger, and might actually be a better doctor than the medic. When's he not in combat he is usally very calm and quiet, of course he still has a short temper.

Been forever since I looked at the trailers in their other languages but I do recall the Russian version of Heavy's trailer having him come off more eloquent in his native tongue as well.

The sandwich is called a “sandvich” and is carried around by the heavy which he eats to gain full health and can toss it to his friends and they’ll gain half their health back from it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't "meet the sandwich" the sandwich you eat when you go afk. That's why heavy is eating while everyone else is fighting.

It's a common thing for a heavy to throw it to a medic that is healing him, just for a scout to run between them and snatch the sandvich

Fun facts: Medic has stolen the souls of the rest of the team, the demomans eye is haunted and attacks them each Halloween, wich is an in-game event, no one knows what pyro is, the soldier is not a real soldier, but a crazy man, wich got crazier due to contaminated water, and there is so much more, this game is ridiculous and thats why its so great

One thing about the Heavy is that he's actually extremely smart. He has a PhD in Russian Literature, he's just not necessarily the best at English, so he uses whatever words get the point across, even if it's not the precise meaning he wants.

That beginning part with medic so great. You immediately realize he's insane, because he tells his patient, who's chest is open and is awake (also medic doesn't have any gloves), a story about he lost his medical license. Then he's more worried about his pet pigeon being dirty than any damage or contamination it being inside heavy's chest. To top it off, he has a spy head in his fridge.
Story for the spy head. Original draft of meet the medic focused on creation of the medigun. Which resulted in blue spy's head becoming immortal. Valve decided that the trailer didn't tell enough about the medic and made the current one with a reference to the original draft.
Sandvich (yes it's spelled like that in game) is a weapon replacement for heavy. When using it, you play an animation similar to the end of the meet the Sandvich and you regain up to 300 health.
All these were great and it’s cool hearing which trailer people are kind drawn to the most and the fun facts found in each trailer seem to be so many 😃🥳

The Orange Box was a game completion released by Valve back in 2007. Back in the olden days when they released physical copies of PC games. The main feature of it was supposed to be the Half Life 2 expansion but it also came with Team Fortress 2 and a little game called Portal which of course was an out of nowhere hit.

i love the deep backstory on the characters like Demoman who seems like a drunk jerk is actully really nice when off the battlefield, like taking care of his blind mother

Everyone expects a “yo mama” joke. Nobody expects the evidence to back it up.
Knowing that the Scout is the red Spy makes the "your mother" moment even funnier. He's not shocked because it's the Scout's mom. He's shocked because the blue Spy has photos of him having sex.
and when he says "gimme that" it's not because they're looking at pictures of scout's mom, its because they're looking at pictures of him having sex 😂😂
Basically, we got: a big Russian juggernaut who likes his gun “Sasha”, a fast Detroit guy, an Aussie sniper, a mad German doctor, a pyromaniac who sees the world as a fantasy, a French mimic, a Texan engineer, a Irish (or Scottish) demo man who drinks way to much and blows stuff up (not really a good combination), a man who takes reenactment of wars too seriously, and most importantly…a sandwich. Well, I’m the world of mercenaries, you gotta start somewhere… right?

@WWE is my city its not a small piece of info though. Its a large part of the character, its something that isn't even hard to remember, you even pointed it out.
It just warms my heart knowing that people are still finding out what TF2 is, knowing that the game will still be alive for a very long time.

Overwatch is where it's at due to how long it's had to live and shift the meta.

Here's a fun fact about the Scout video: When Scout taps the camera when he says 'I hurt people', he leaves a small smudge on the camera that stays there until the end of the video.

@@GG_Metl While some may not know where Soldier is from, his voice is mainly based off of actor George C. Scott who played general George S. Patton in the 1970 film "Patton" (a film which was responsible for the iconic image of having a general standing on a stage giving a grand speech in front of a massive American Flag).
Fun fact: A lot of the dialogue in Meet The Sandvich was improvised by the voice actors.

Your reaction to Pyro... Was exactly the same as mine. I laughed hard in this one for sure!
There are two theories about his visions: One, the optical mask changes his perception. He doesn't remove it for anything, so, it's probably true. The other, for me the most credible one, he suffers from schizophrenia, a mental illness that makes it hard to understand what is real and what is not.
Anyway, Pyro freaks everyone... But he's actually quite friendly. He honestly tries to make his friends and teammates happy, and will do anything to protect them. In special Engineer, who is the only one who talks to him and tries to understand what he's answering. One of Pyro's main jobs is to protect the team (in special Engineer's machines) against enemy Spies, something he's very good on.
One theory we like that we heard about from other comments is that Pyro knows something big and has dirt on a top level guy who runs stuff (they gave a name but we forgot 🙃) and that person forced Pyro to wear the mask to keep him crazy 🤪
Judging by the item descriptions for the Pyrovision Goggles, they just let us players see the world as Pyro would.

The goggles are canon. Specifically, the effects get stronger the more fire is present.

Engineer have 11 PhDs so for him playing with that big fingers is probably a piece of cake. Also Heavy might sound like he is stupid but he have Phd in russian literature. That thing that Medic does is called Übercharge it makes him and person he is healing immortal for some time. Sandwich is item that Heavy can Equip, when he eats it it restore him some lost health or he can throw it on the ground where his teammate can take it and it will restore health to that teammate. Also fun fact Spy is Scouts dad. Next you should watch Expiration Date and there is also a lot of fanmade animations. I really recommend Tribute, whole Fedora Chronicles series, Burning Through Space 1 and 2, Overwatch vs TF2 1 and 2. That is just a few of my favourite animations there is much more that you can watch. Some animations have profound story and some are just funny. It's up to you what you want to watch.
Also I like all the characters but if I had to choose I would choose Spy, he is just an elegant french man. His primary weapon is revolver but mainly you want to use his knife because when you stab someone in the back it kills them instantly, than he can use his watches to become invisible or even to fake his own death how that works I have no idea but it's cool, he can disguise himself as someone from enemy team so he can walk around them and killing them without no one even noticing, he's also equiped with a thing called sapper and that is Engineers nightmare it can destroy his buildings and when you are not close as an Engineer you can say goodbye to your buildings. Really good Spy is pretty much everyones nightmare, because he alone can dominate entire enemy team. But before you go to that stage were you're everyones nightmare you need to practice a lot. I would say that Spy is high risk but high reward character because when you're starting with Spy you're probably going to be killed by everyone in game but when you spend those hours practicing your movement and learning trickstabs like stairstab, cornerstab etc. you're gonna be that nighmare for every player.

And also despite what scout does in his trailer he can't get that high without a certain weapon and the sentry bullets he dodged are not possible the sentry guns have PERFECT aim as long as their in range of the sentry
Except the rockets they shoot at where they are at the moment but don't account for travel time
with that said, spy is also the worst class in competitive, and is practically useless in tournaments, because a good team that can communicate makes the disguising pointless, back stabs don't work on people who keep looking around, his revolver is weak and he is still visible and makes a lot of sound when cloaked. he's only good in pubs when no one knows what's happening
When me and my boyfriend played this I was always the Pyro and you could actually get goggles that made the game look like the rainbow world lol

There's lots of attention to detail in these films. Especially the spy one. They drop a lot of hints that the Scout is the real spy. (He doesn't know the door code.)

Another hint that blue scout is the spy is that in all the meet the videos, the class they are showing is in the thumbnail, but in meet the spy, the blue scout is in the thumbnail

Once the medic activates his ubercharge the teammate he's healing becomes invincible including himself. Heavy found a way to outsmart bullet.

Lore wise, Pyro actually just randomly appeared out of nowhere and started spraying the other team with fire while everyone else stopped and just stared at him in disbelief. It's not known what his identity is or where he came from, although the current theory is that he's a particularly severe victim of schizophrenia that escaped from a mental asylum close to that particular battlefield after destroying it and killing everyone inside (The lore includes an asylum burning to the ground with no survivors shortly before he makes his first appearance in the comics). Interestingly, the reason he likes fire so much is because without it, the cheery rainbow land seen in his trailer turns into a depressing shade of gray and monotone. This can be verified by equipping a special mask in game to see what the world is like through his eyes. It's pretty tragic, once you really think about it
To add on, Heavy has several lunchbox items that can replace the usual shotgun that he has in his secondary weapon slot. There are several different food items (the sandwich is one of them) and with the exception of one, all of them serve to heal him when eaten and can also be thrown to others (teammates and enemies alike) for them to eat and heal themselves, but each have different characteristics in their healing (For example, the amount of health restored and recharge time). The exception is a food item that's a ribeye steak, which instead of healing when eaten, causes Heavy to run faster and deal more melee damage per punch, but at the cost of making him unable to use his minigun after being eaten

There are multiple TF2 comics by now, free to read. Some are very short, such as the 'Meet the Director' comic that provides more backstory to the _Meet the Team_ trailers: wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Meet_the_Director
Most of those short comics were part of some content update, usually for big events like Christmas update or Halloween, or the _WAR! Soldier vs Demoman_ update, the _Mann vs Machine_ updates.
But there is also a seven part comic that chronicles the events after the end of the Mann vs Machine Robot War... sadly, Valve only published six issues and never gave us the solution to the storyline yet.
As other folks commenting have already suggested, you're gonna have a blast watching "Expiration Date" :D
It was supposed to be the pilot episode for an actual animated show on Adult Swim featuring the TF2 characters but sadly Valve took too long to complete it and the deal fell through...
I am still sad thinking about what could have been because there is so much potential.
Besides Expiration Date there is "End of the Line" a fanmade, unvoiced short film that was made for a big game update.
"Jungle Inferno" is an official short animation made by Valve for another big update.

So a few details.
Sandvich was an item added in the heavy update. It replaces his secondary weapon. On a 30 second cooldown he gets a full health restore. You choose between carrying that or a shotgun
After meet the spy, Sniper’s character model was updated to add a scar from the fight with spy.
When meet the medic dropped, as it said, the game became free to play on steam. The only difference for the longest time between free and premium was cosmetics. Though most players encouraged newcomers to put $5 towards it as the premium upgrade isn’t a monthly subscription but instead a one time purchase.
Also after meet the medic, gibbing a scout (kill a scout with an exsplosive attack that does at least 11 overkill damage) has a 1% chance to spawn a dove

Love how they incorporate actual gameplay aspects in all the vids while still making them over the top hilarious for those that don’t play 😃😂
18:18 It indeed can happen in the game, it's called the Ubercharge and lets you turn you and an ally invulnerable for 8 seconds. You gotta first fill up a meter bar by healing allies though, and if you die then all your Ubercharge progress is lost otherwise it'd be too easy xD

the sandwich is a health item the heavy can get and toss it to other players and the update that happened with the pryo trailer made i think it's 5 maps that were already in the game have "pryovision" (in game you can get goggles that turns all the characters voices high pitched) with the pryo goggles the maps basically went from yellow dustbowls to peppermint green grasslands and it's the best XD

Fun fact: If I remember right one of Spy's guns, the Ambassador, has an engraving of Scout's mother along the barrel.
It might also have the nickname he called her in French at the end of the trailer engraved on there too, but I'm not entirely sure. I know he definitely has Scout's mother engraved on there.

Fun fact: When the medic heals the Demoman, (black scottish guy with eyepatch) you can see that he still has his eyepatch on. This is because that, canonically, that eye socket is haunted.

I play TF2 competitively, although not very well i am still in Amateur-Intermediate mostly as the demoman for 6v6 and spy for 9v9, its always fun to watch somebody's first reaction to the game via the legendary Meet the team series

Yea you can do what the Medic did in game. The Medic's Ubercharge makes whomever his target is completely invincible for a short period of time so long as he keeps the beam on him. The Medic + Heavy combo was pretty commonplace. The point of the Sandvich was originally every character had a single loadout, one primary weapon, one secondary, one melee. When they started to introduce alternative items one of the very first was the Sandvich for the Heavy. instead of his secondary weapon he could have a Sandvich which he could stand still and eat for a second to self-heal.
Seems like a fun game and there are so many great vids for it to continue our journey 😃
When the trailer starts the music gives me the animated show “Archer” vibes. It’s a spy show

Fun fact: The Phyro doesn't have any brain damage. Its because of his "goggles" that he sees differently than what's really going on. Although, if you're like me, I personally believe he's just always fucking high as a kite.

Looking at the comic, pyro is just completely insane. He started murdering a bear at one point (and definitely knew he was attacking it) because in pyrovison the bear has a hat, pants and is talking about preventing forest fires.

Pyros "optical mask" is from a company that keeps him in pyrovision. They have it for the game where it looks like that in game.
Probably my favorite group of characters from any game, they are all rememberable in their own way

Meet the Pyro is chilling for me, the part where he kicks that door in with the flamethrower ready, along with the music and script, and when he pushes on the trigger, it's amazing yet brutal. And that part where he locks Medic in the building and burns him alive while the doctor is pleading is downright horrifying.
(Also like to add that in Meet the Spy, the Red Spy finishes the Blue Spy's sentence. "He could even be-!" "... Right behind you."

Sandvich is "an edible device". It's something that the Heavy can equip, he can use it himself or drop it for a teammate to use. I think its 120 health. It takes a few seconds to consume.

So the thing about the Pyro's candy land vision is, it's called "Pyrovision", you can actually see those imagined weapons on the pyro if you equip a set of goggles meant to simulate how the pyro sees the world. There's also a special map that changes drastically in visuals if you have those goggles that was specifically included with the Pyromania Update of the game (of which the Meet the Pyro short was the trailer of)

Fun fact: Pyro while yes being crazy has the mental capacity of a child. Through an in game cosmetic we see the goggles built into his mask are what make him see the candy wonderland. He's a very easy person to distract because of his love of fire

The Orange Box was a game collection back around 2006 containing a few Valve games like Half Life, TF2 and others. But TF2 became a standalone thing and eventually turned free to play only a few years after its release.

to answer the sandvich question: yes the sandvich can restore health. there are also 2 foods that the heavy can eat. The Dalokoh Bar is a chocolate bar that can restore health with 100+ health. the buffalo steak sandvich is like the sandvich but once you eat it you can only use melee for a short period of time. theres also a fishcake but its just like the chocolate

oh yeah and each class has a disorder or syndrome. pyro suffers from schizophrenia which is why he thinks he's in wonderland.

In the comics, he's aware that he's burning and killing everyone, so he uses that optical mask to keep the little bit of sanity he's got left.

@@Vex35 Those Pyrovision Goggles weren't designed by Mann Co, the Engineer replicated the Pyro's optical mask which actually was created by Mann Co., in Australia. And yes, the Pyro is aware of his murders but he doesn't mind as much as he should as seen in the last comic (#7 The Naked and the Dead), where he strategically remained quiet until he burned TFC Scout and Soldier in the right time. Not to mention when he became the CEO of Mann Co.
Funniest thing in the Spy's cinematic is that he's able to copy every single one of Medic's cloth except his glasses.

Yes, teamwork where the Medic heals a Heavy and Ubercharges him to be invincible (temporarily) is common in the game.
