Did Kings Canyon last week, and massive reno's to the resort happening now, yes flies still there in force even early April! My first foray overseas in two months, going to Goodwood FOS in UK end of June. Can't wait.
Honest thoughts - you didn't see the water right. You were going the right direction, but the water that washed over that basin happened, and it wasn't friendly. Please take Randall Carlson or Graham Hancock on one of your walks

Because of the seasonal effects those pools dont have water now.
And of course it has to be protected otherwise it will end up demolished by people.
Very much worth it more than the Colosseum
