Each state has its own laws/rules. I was very fortunate when in 2020 the state of Florida made dry needling legal. My PT had been trained in Georgia, where it was legal, so I had immediate access to those treatments as soon as the laws changed. They’ve been helping me out for 4+ years for dystonia in my upper traps and most recently in my hamstrings!
I started acupuncture treatments shortly after my diagnosis last year to address pain and mild tremor in my left hand. I must say, i have been very pleased with the results I have received. At present, I attend one session each month. My provider is a specialist in acupuncture having completed a 4-yr degree in Chinese medicine. I have not found the treatments to be painful but on occasion a bit uncomfortable. Quite frequently, I find the experience to be very relaxing. I strongly recommend acupuncture for treatment of Parkinson pain.
Yes you're correct illegal in California where I am as well. But I have such stiff muscle for a long time that had been bothering me. Only medical doctors in California can do the right needling. And they are very hard to find. Finally one day when I was at my pain med and when none of my Botox injections worked I was so frustrated I told him that I wish I was able to stab That area. He looked at me and thought I'm crazy.😂 I said oh no no no I think it is called dry needling where they hit the area with a needle. I think that would release my tight muscle. So he told me I can do it with the regular needle. He used an injection needle and also use the ultrasound and h He had to move it around till I notice he's in the right location and I told him it is right where he was and he pressed through. And magic happened the next morning. Paying on for 3 weeks. Had to do it every 3 weeks, so far three times.
My husband’s leg tremor kicks in when he’s cold. His hand tremor is pretty constant except when asleep but the leg starts up when he’s cold. He is not on any meds for PD.
@@susancrosby4363 Your husband should talk to a doctor about medication, it changed my life. I could not type or do many duties of my job. Now I'm able to function almost normally. Also thank you for the reply.
My YOPD friends all have different responses. I haven't seen or figured out a pattern, but some of them are affected by cold and others to hot. For me, my tremors act up with cold weather and nerves. Check out the TurnTo app for parkinson's. That platform would be a great forum to ask and see results because I think it would tally it or separate out who says what. Just a suggestion!

I had no idea! Why wouldn't it be legal? Interesting...
Love love my regular acupuncture and massage. It’s amazingly relaxing, it doesn’t hurt and it’s helpful with my tremors. 💜
I love your podcast, thanks so much.😀

Good to know! Thanks!
Too bad it is illegal in California and NY. Could help my daughter.
Wow, really? I had no idea that would even be an issue. Do you know why? Now I need to do some research

It’s definitely legal in Colorado and there are several PT’s who provide it even in the relatively rural area where I live.
Is it just me or does cold weather make Tremors worse? I figured this is a good forum to ask.
