3:51 dude, the visuals here finally made it all click! Been following pitcher statcast metrics on savant for about 4 years now. I’ve always researched pitchers’ active spin but never completely understood it. Are all mlb teams using active spin to drive their pitching staffs?
One thing that would be nice to see, is a 3D model of the strike zone and where exactly in that zone the ball passes through. For ex, a curve ball, do you wan that to break heavy before it actually gets to the strike zone so that the batter misses? Or does it pass through the front-bottom end of the strike zone?
Great video! But… I’m going to need to go back and watch at like quarter speed and pause a lot. If this were like an hour long it would be the holy grail of pitching videos for anyone wondering what the heck these pitches are.
