Ran that reversed trans in a build for awhile. Capra front axle and TRX rear. They spin in opposite directions. Just using what I had at the time. Worked well. Rig is now 4ws Capra axles front/rear. Trans is in the parts box lol. Never gave me any problems though.
My Injora 3-gear didnt last one run before the plastic internals melted. They do make another 3-gear which is a clone of the Axial transmission and is also $20. That one features metal internals and is decently robust
My youngest has developed an affection for this place called Pop Mart, which sells all sorts of little figures from Asia that are (to old dad here) WAY too expensive. Turns out if you buy three (which was like 50 bucks) you get a free "Mystery Pop" which turned out to be that... uhh... king lobster in a suit? I claimed it immediately.
So I have one of those grey metal transmissions. Seemed pretty decent, as far as tightening up a loose bearing....I've found a center punch in 5 or 6 spots around the perimeter ( just outside the bearing race) seemed to do the trick. And I ditch the super heavy spur gear for a Kimbrough 32p. I like the snappy response of a lighter gear that doesn't act like a flywheel....but I drive like an ass
Well, the Vanquish has no other option than to be fantastic-- it's $170 (yes, I know $44 for the two halves). I don't think that I could in clear conscience put junk gears inside the Vanquish housing. Seems almost immoral.
The Dickey was supposed to have a brass bolt to set the top shaft endplay. Much disappointment. At least it was machined better than the bargain basement box.
Half the pics/listings seem to show the bolt, and half don't. It's also listed on the item card as the reverse box, so I guess this is one of those Amazon "roll the dice" type of arrangements.
Hello fine sir I’m finding this quite interesting and will be curious if you’ve done a few of the Amazon 2 lows like this I would love to see if there’s any that are better than the other ones. My friend said a lot of them that he has found have pressed on gears and do not handle the power. It would be awesome if you could find one that’s pin drive so we can all start using it
I have two of the fake 2Lows in service currently, one is fitted with a Vanquish slipper, the other with a cheap Amazon belt drive. So far so good, but time will tell.
The reverse output is what Carisma calls ATT-- anti torque twist. The reverse output makes the front and rear driveshafts spin in opposite directions, which does indeed mitigate torque twist. The issue is that this requires axles that can have the ring gear inserted either way, as the "reverse" configuration needs both ring gears on one side, while a conventional gearbox has one ring gear on each side.
So it was the spur and shaft that was lose and thats where the black dust was coming from? I guess i was right about something.😂 its been along time since i could say that.
Well, no real need to junkview the Amazon Dig Box-- I have 5 of them-- Zoidberg, Yella, the Colonel, Blackjack, Jake. I've been tempted by the LCG box a few times, but the reviews are consistently terrible, and it looks to have VERY little gear reduction.
@CrawlerCanyon maybe junk view for the dig unit was wrong term but if the lcg trans gets such bad reviews it might be perfect for a junk view. Or one of those new wild looking lcg chassis kits from Aliexpress.

Best alloy 3 gear housing i have ever used was the vanquish one, ofc its not a cheap housing but nice machining

Yep, floppy topshaft combined with the Axial pinion. I don't like shouldered pinions for that exact reason.

What size bearings should I get to improve the dicky as I want to get rid of the top shaft wobble
