Venom was a refreshing detour from the slasher flicks of the early 1980's. Agree with Gene, it was a fun little thriller and a prime example of Britsplotation. Like the cast too.
Spot on Gene. For the most part, I find myself always siding with Gene. Venom is a claustrophobic, well shot by Gilbert Taylor (the same guy who shot The Omen) and well acted. Yes its funny in places, sometime unintentionally so, but it all adds to the entertainment.
The Achilles heel for all movie critics, seems to be they never take a movie at face value...Gene's review is the one I agree with in this case....Roger thought this was too confusing?!...Puh-lease!!...We are not in Ken Russell territory here!....lol
I just finished watching the film and I found it to be a solid entertainment. Also, Watching Kinski wrestling with an obvious rubber snake was hysterical! 😂 Also, if I had a choice between The Border and Venom, I would pick Venom. The Border features a great Jack Nicholson performance but the film is predictable. Venom is actually a good entertainment.
Its absolutely baffling to think that Oliver Reed did Venom and Lion of the Desert in the same year, thats like a Jurassic Park-Schindlers List level of contrast
I thought this was a great thriller..the snakes scenes were really suspenseful... it was morbidly funny...the woman gets bit and Klaus Kinski tells her its only a garden snake as she starts convoluting..
saw Venom when it first came out and saw it again last year. I thought it was fun and thrilling then and still do. A forgotten gem.

Brisploitation. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hey Eric, I just saw all the new reviews you posted.
Just wanted to say, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
ditto! I love these reviews when I was 13. Love going down memory lane. Boy am I getting old. :(
I enjoyed VENOM. Saw it at the drive in back in 82 with the Clint Howard horror film EvilSpeak

Gene is usually the one who can’t take goofy horror movies at face value tbf
This episode should have been called Snake Preview.
Saw it in the theaters.. Susan George's death scene messed me up.. she stoled the movie with it.

😊great review
any movie with Oliver Reed cannot be that bad
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hype might put your theory to the test.
@@ertznay3142 that bad, eh? lol
@@johnnyskinwalker4095 It's pretty rough.
Gene is always right, except for The Thing and Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid.
and Aliens
Gene gave a thumbs up to The Thing, Roger voted no.
