    Freaking love 80s baseball. The television broadcasts were straight to the point, no B.S.

    I vividly remember watching this game at the Bethesda crab house in moco md as a pup. Can't believe it's been 31 years. Surreal.

    In the 4th inning Ellis Burks drives one out to deep center that was run down and caught by Dave Henderson. You see a guy at the end of the row waving his arm at Hendu. That's me!

      Bro, that's awesome. Man, I'm trying a TV broadcast of my very first baseball game that I went to. It was 05-07-1989 Yankees at a White Sox. I can't find it nowhere. Someone out there has it. I hopefully I can find it.

    Clemens, Randy Johnson, and Pedro Martinez are all top 5 ever. Their numbers were insane, and their peaks were completely unreal.

    My God, the difference between having Joe Morgan in the booth vs. Tim McCarver is enormous!

    • @briancarter2847
      @briancarter2847 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      McCarver is actually a good guy and a good broadcaster. He always has good stories to tell. I have no clue why he gets a bad rap. He caught Bob Gibson and Steve Carlton for Christ Sake. And played he played in the MLB like 25 years. Respect that and stop hating on him.

    Joe Morgan wasn't he the manager of the RedSox at one point??

    • @walterlv01
      @walterlv01 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are two different Joe Morgans - one who managed the Red Sox and one who played for the Reds in the 70s and announced games for 30 or so years.

    Why did Oakland have to be the road team, when their record was far, far better than the BoSox?

      Back then the home field advantage alternated between the divisions for the LCS series and the leagues for the World Series.

      In 95 against the Indians amazing lineup he did pitch well. 1 earned over 7. His catcher fucked up and cost him 2 runs. He ended with a no decision.

    The fact Clemens is not in the Hall is an absolute travesty. It's holier than thou, morally preening, old man sportswriters who must show their bullshit pseudo outrage by keeping arguably the best pitcher ever out of the HOFer.

    • @gibomber
      @gibomber  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And instead Jeff Bagwell is in the HOF, and check how it looked his body in the early and late years of his career...

    • @dukedematteo1995
      @dukedematteo1995 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gibomber Sure...people have to realize that guys in the 70s and 80s didnt even lift weights.....So the gym culture of the 90s and 00s, steroids or not was going to result in bigger stronger players.
      How do I know that Bagwell just didnt lift alot of weights and added 20 lbs to his frame that he maintained his whole career thru vigorous work out? If there was a massive change in body type in a short amount of time then I can see the steroid accusations def being true. But maybe he was just a crazy lifter....I dunno. Imagine your Bagwell and you didnt use steroids, and all these geeky writers are saying your decades of intense workouts is just bullshit, you really just cheated, etc...Imagine how frustrating that must be.
      Clemens did not gain weight in some short amount of time....if anything the reports are he lost about 10 lbs btw his last year in Boston and first year in Toronto....and also his naysayers seem to act like 34 yrs old is ancient, and claim that he was done in Boston yet he led the league in Ks by a mile, in 243 innings, was 1st in FIP and had 7.8 WAR. It was actually a very good to great season and a clear indication that he was healthy again and was in no way in decline. "
      "Twilight" remains an incredibly stupid statement......What great HOF caliber pitcher is done at 34? None. Johnson, Schilling, Smoltz, Maddux, Halladay, Ryan, Gibson were all still great at 34....Schilling and Johnson actually peaked in their mid to late 30s. Schilling's 3 Cy Runner Ups were at age 34, 35 and 37. Units run of 4 Cys was 35 to 38 yrs old. Bob Gibsons magical year was age 33. Verlander was 36 in 2019. I can go on.
