Mazda has shown up to the modern three-row soiree fashionably late, but draped in style and power. I say "late" because the company just recently revealed its first-ever plug-in hybrid, the CX-90. And when I say "style and power," I'm referring to Mazda's most powerful production vehicle ever. In both cases, I'm talking about the all-new CX-90, Mazda's flagship SUV.
There’s a lot to unpack, so let’s start with some numbers. There are two primary drivetrain options: a PHEV and an inline-six-cylinder. There’s an all-new eight-speed transmission. There are three trims in the PHEV category; and five in the inline-six-cylinder. Seating configurations come optimized for either six, seven, or eight passengers. There are two - well, technically three - levels of tune for the 3.3L six-cylinder: regular-output; high-output; and high-output on 93 octane.

New subscriber all the way from Oz 🇦🇺. Great review of the new CX90. Love the way you describe & break it all down & your voice is easy to listen to. Great camera shots & video. One thing I would have liked to see included would be testing the updated safety software for centering you in the lane for automatic steering control as the old CX9 would just ping pong from side to side keeping you in the lane.
It arrives in Australia August this year. We receive the high output 3.3L petrol & also the 3.3L diesel. Plug in will arrive in 2024. I will be ordering one but I am currently going back & forth in regards to either the petrol or diesel. The economy of the diesel is hard to ignore at 5.4L/100 & the petrol is a respectable 8.2L/100, both are the combined figures. 🤔 Decisions decisions 😆 That artisan red is gorgeous & will be definitely the colour I will choose. I wish America/Canada was receiving the diesel so I can watch the reviews to make a more informed choice.

1. Please turn off the background music, it's not needed, this isn't a JRPG cutscene.
2. You said a lot, but didn't really say much about how it actually drives, or the transmission shifts, or how well it deals with bumps etc. You're mostly talking based on the spec sheets. I can get that info from the brochures. Please focus on the actual test drive impressions.
The all-new, 2024 Mazda CX-90 MHEV high-output crossover will be one of the best vehicles in North America.

inline 6 is amazing for this car
The Signature trim is also the only way to get the body coloured wheel wells.
Does Turbo GT trim has 7 seats or 8 seats?
I know phev gt has 7 seats as per website but it's not clear about phev on mazda website
at over 75 for top trim OTR thats crazy money.
Does anybody know size of phev battery on this?
What's amazing is that even the Signature trim CX-90 is more fuel efficient than the smaller CX-9.

Are both versions hybrid?
I mean phev is plug-in hybrid.. but even other gasoline Turbo version is called mildHev by them so does it mean Turbo is also hybrid?
If yes how to decide between PHEV and MHEV?
1 is hybrid the other is pure gas.
