The multiplayer will make this worth it alone, even playing with just Ai and splitscreen used to be sweet this is gonna be a whole new experience for a lot of us
Only for PlayStation will it last, pc and Xbox players can already play online if they wanted too especially with easy programs like xlink Kai to use to play mutiplayer

honestly it's upsetting people are trying to lash out on others for purchasing this. Many of us are self aware of what we are buying and I sure as hell would rather be playing this then any of the new releases lately. There isn't any great multiplayer game right now and this is something I'm gonna love!
Yes. When damn near every modern game lacks the depth of these 20 year old titles and keep coming out in dire need of a patch that takes months to surface, Why does anyone question why we flock to these Classic Collections?
The new battlefront two had half as much content but people still bought it for $80

I've already pre-ordered it, and still have my two Battlefront games from 2004 and 2005 from Steam, even still playing them until the Classic Collection arrives on Thursday. What a nostalgic moment i'm gonna have, it's gonna send me to when i was 14 years old and 15 year old when i played the OGs when my dad bought them in Pennsylvania

The steam deck and switch version of the game is so good.
Besides new online servers for multiplayer, the increased standard count of AI bots and XL mode in every map is what I'm looking forward to. Like bro the smallest maps are gonna get so chaotic man and big maps will actually feel like big map battles all-out war.
The game will come in a neat package and launcher, it's upgraded to 64 bits (that's awesome for mods), upscaled to native 4k, will (probably) have some sort of official support to likely fix bugs, new 64 player servers and “new” content for consoles (XL mode, etc…), DLCs…

Battlefront fans are happy they will be able to play the OGs again with also a new online experience and basically on every platform they want. That's a win-win for me, they could've done a lot less and people would still pay if the “Battlefront” name was attached to it, but they are at least giving cool stuff.

I had no idea about the XL mode. I have only every played the OG battlefront 2 on Xbox so I would say this collection is worth it.

As a PlayStation player, this is definitely worth it! Sure the price might be a bit costly for two 20 year old games with added content, but the games are still solid. Plus we've never gotten these games on a modern videogame system.

Everything that was offline in the originals is available for split screen: instant action, galactic conquest and the campaign. At least for battlefront 2. I think battlefront 1 is the same.
That is why I am buying it on pc

People keep talking about price and compare it to the PC version but the regular game isn’t available on PS5 or Switch

Tbh I'm glad they didn't remaster it. Leaving it alone imo was the best decision for this. The OG look/ feel while having multiplayer is badass
The PS2 has a active community that plays Star Wars battlefront 1 and 2 on a private server
i played this back on xbox live, it was the jam, everyday after school with friends, i must have been 11 years old.
If I do buy this, the main draw for me at least, is playing it on the Nintendo Switch for the first time.
I can play Galactic Conquest portably.
It is DEFINITELY worth the price, I haven’t played Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) in a LONG time after I stupidly got rid of my PS2. Also, I’ve never played the first original game from 2004, so, I’m looking forward to playing that. Because with this collection, it’ll be my first time playing the first original Star Wars Battlefront game.
We should get a complete saga rerelease after this. That game was my childhood
Now we need Star Wars episode 3 re release with online capability to play with friends during a he story and duels once again.

I’m originally from the Eastern Europe, so the Pirate Bay, for young gamers as we were, was the only one solution. So I’m planning to buy it as the payback (respect) for happy hours I spent in the game. Plus the online was never an option in our case - the servers will be the huge improvement!

I would cry tears of joy if they did Renegade Squadron onto console. That was my game back on the PSP, the ability to change your guns, equipment and looks was the best part of the game. It featured both era’s with a good amount of maps even the space ones.

Multiplayer as a kid. Only with bots. So it will be interesting seeing everyone old and new.
Technically all resolutions beyond 1080p on the battlefront 2 are kind of broken on PC like there's some graphical corruption and artifacts I'm glad they're finally fixing it in the classic election
I was one of those rare players that played the PS2 version online up until 2009. I easily had 300 hours on hero assault mos eisley. It was to the point where a meta game formed for that mode and I never touched the actual shooting part of the game.

This was a no brainer at preordering. I’ve got them physically and digitally on Xbox and PlayStation I even think I have it on steam but I never got to experience the multiplayer
for me alone the hero assault playable on all ground maps was worth the buy hated that it was locked to one map only
I bought battlefront 2 for ps2 before hearing about the release...so now I'll have both versions. I regret nothing

Played the 1st and 2nd ones at my cousin's house. Then Got my own copy of them years later.
The first one on the PC.
The second one on the PS2.
Can't wait to play these two classic edition of the games on my switch after so long.
So we have the Originals, the remake, Original Re-Launch... but what I want is a the Original Re-Mastered. I do love the remakes though, they got better over time and should get more love.
Some of the mods haven’t been worked on or patched in years so some of my favorite mods likely won’t be carried over to this collection. Sadness incoming…
I'm so excited! I never got to play this game online when I was young. I can't wait to experience it for the first time.
Multiplayer with offline bots was my favorite thing to do in the original games on PS2. I don't even care about online MP, I just want to fight bots offline again.

I already own the OG BF2 on PS2 and OG 1+2+EA2 on Steam, and I would personally like to tell the people lashing out at people for buying the remaster to grow up. Let us enjoy what we want to enjoy and buy what we want. Besides, owning the remaster on a Nintendo platform is pretty amazing, considering all we had gotten before was a sad attempt at Elite Squadron on DS. Hope everyone who's also getting this has as much fun as I will!
Question? Will the classic collection be 2 different multiplayer games? If that’s the case I think it’s a bad idea cause people will be divided in two games and not in a single one which hopefully could lead to full servers!

I dont care for the online content since ive mostly played offline, though the XL is gonna be insane, playing bf2 on pc elite was easy, but a real battlefield is what im looking foward to, no more beating the game without dying with a 150+ kill count every battle.

After hearing this game is relasing again i replayed both campaigns again on xbox. And the galatic conquest. Will probably do it all again on ps5
imagine if they can update the game regularly fix bugs, improve quality of life, add new maps, new game modes and new units/heroes, taking note from the mod comunity and giving some credit to those people, just imagine, but i know this is just another project to make money and most likely we won’t get any of that
One of my favourite games of all time that I was recently going to get a PS2 out of the shed and play again that’s how desperate I am to play this, but it’s not worth $50 like in what world!?

While a big appeal for this re-release is multiplayer, for me the biggest part of this is the switch port - I could never get into the handheld exclusives, always wished I could take SWBF2 on the go, and finally I can! I will also likely end up buying this on other platforms too 😅

If you are on pc all of them. Old ones for modes. New one for extra content from the xbox live release and working multiplayer servers. Plus you bet your ass there are already modders on standby for when the collection drops.

If you want to have enhanced gameplay, graphics, and easy mods, I'd recommend getting the standalone Battlefront 2 (2005). There's even a mod called Battlefront III Legacy which uses some of the source files from the unreleased third game. The standalone has the most repeatability through the mods. Honestly buying that + the Classic Collection would be a fair choice.
XL mode sounds fun Also on yavin, there is a map where Anakin Skywalker is a playable character as the Republic. And I bet I can get a good amount of trophies on here I beat galactic conquest as every faction that was a good challenge

You might need to lol. He’s on corasant only in the campaign it’s mace windu in instant action. If I remember right he’s only on mustafar for the empire. And on hero assault he’s on the dark side. His moveset is force choke and saber throw. Unless it’s a mod then your right you can

I’m so hyped to finally be able to play these games online. I spent DAAAAAYS of my childhood playing BF2 with my brother and friends. We had it for our really crappy laptop back in the day so that never went well 😅
I don't own a disk for 2, and my disk for 1 on the og xbox is scratched. I got the classic collection just so I can play online with friends.

I think there was never a SW Battlefront as good as the old Battlefront 2. Some levels were gigantic
i remember playing this when i was 10 goods times the thing im looking foward to the most is the suppported mulitplayer gonna be hectic lol the graphics dont really bug me i like old school look of games , even went back and played classic WoW and had a blast old games defentiley can be very fun.

I was a college student when both games originally came out.
LAN, that’s all I’m going to say on the matter and it was awesome because my mate got his widescreen CRT and put it out in the living room of one of the residential blocks at the time, along with another friend, who had his 21” 4:3 CRT.
I think if it’s worth it or not, it’s really down to the individual, regardless on where you sit, first time player or somebody who wants to go down memory lane.
I’d like to see Aspyr give dark forces II the same treatment along with its DLC.
In addition, to the fact, I wouldn’t mind seeing factor 5 release a version of sort of the cancelled rogue squadron game we were going to get for Wii. my understanding was that it was basically the first two games with enhancements and a shit ton of controller options.

Forgot to mention bf2 splitscreen has been neutered for xbox. Originally it had 4 player splitscreen, this new one is only 2.

Much rather the originals since you can mod Battlefront 2 to have both games maps and have many more maps and game modes.
Always loved the bf2 Rhen Var maps in the conversion pack for bf2. Someone reskinned Rhen Var citadel with green and made it a Yavin map.
What I want to know is whether or not the modding scene will switch to the classic collection instead of the originals.

Honestly biggest gripe with the ea version is vehicles are powerups and don't spawn on the map, they could have made it like their older battlefield games imagine having a squad in a gunship on geonosis!

For me, I don't think I need to buy the new release. Why? Mods take care of the "issues" of limited bot counts and lack of modes and maps, and more.
I just want a version with no mods and one with mods on. That is why I buy the remastered. I don’t regret buying. 😊

There is a ton of community made configurations for controller support. You don't need the plugin for it to work that's only useful if you do not want to use steam big screen

My campaign on Star Wars BF2 on pc blacks out on a certain part of a space battle so I stopped playing it. Hopefully it’s fixed in the collection which I preordered on my switch 😊

For the best local experience you have to get the original Xbox version as it's the only one to have 4 player splitscreen

Im getting this on PC just for the full controller support. I grew up playing on Xbox offline and loved the feel of the controller, and ever since that xbox ate dirt every attempt to play on PC felt like a slog learning controls

And price of collection vs the OGs, in Ukraine, OG Battlefront 1 and 2 are listed at 225 grivnas, the collection with its preorder discount is 518(Will be 600)...
And before I finished typing it I see that promo was extended and price was slightly bumped, to think that I snagged it for cheaper is hilarious(Listed at 583 now for me). Still, for me the collection is only 100 grivnas more then 2 OGs, which is perfectly fine.
Why are people talking about this game ignoring the main draw to all of this? The fact that these games will be available to play on modern consoles. Forget pc for a minute. If you take pc away cause a lot of people only play on console (crazy right 🤯) besides backwards compatibility on xbox there was no way to play these games on modern consoles. That’s huge for a lot of people.

I'm really excited for it, even just to play the story mode and galactic conquest again. Went to boot up the PS4 which I just found out is broken. Unless someone wants to get me a new console with the game might be a while till I get to play it unfortunately.
I still think the file size is more of a sign of poor storage optimization than actual upgrades they have done. No reason this should be 50gb at all.
I just hope they have a switch to first person and third person, I like to play in first on ground assaults, but when it comes to space battles third person is best.

I Already own SWBF2 "2005" on Xbox series X, as it's backwards compatible, but also Has 4k Textures HDR support and 4 Player split screen and Lan Support for All Modes...
And when They made it Backwards Compatible, they even updated it, to have All the Original Xbox Live DLC content for both games too.
Can You make a Comparison, between the Updated Backwards Compatible Xbox Series X Versions and The Upcoming Classic Collection.
