Death Angel's Rob Cavestany and Mark Osegueda interviewed by Sam Dunn in 20010 for the television series Metal Evolution about growing up in the early days of the Bay area thrash scene, playing their own high school, and getting Kirk Hammett to produce their demo Kill As One. This extended interview excerpt is presented raw and uncut, with new director's commentary.

These guys are a total class act. My band supported them when they came to my town, and after the show, Mark, Rob, and Doc from God Forbid hung out at our merch table, and when people asked them for autographs, they would encourage the fans to buy our merch. I've never seen a band do that before.

yeah no doubt i love all their albums but act III was like a culmination of whole bands(original members) ideas you could hear it from some of the funk parts, punk, the group vocals and just the feel of the whole album....absolutely one of my favourite albums in thrash history...i played that tape almost everyday way back then.

I saw Death Angel the first time Mark sang with them and one time on the drummer's 12th birthday (among many others). Good times. . .

It's so cool to hear they where my age when they started playing gigs. My band is still in our practice realm of skill. Someday I hope to be as cool as these guys I love death angel. It was inspirational to see people l look up to being my age when they started out.

I wasn't a huge fan of Death Angel when I first got a cassette demo of them WAY back in the 1980s, but that all changed with the release of their first LP. I've seen them perform live twice now in the last 3 years or so, and still maintain that Marc is the best frontman of pretty much any band I've seen play live to this day. The band is amazing.

Love these guys. BTW, if anyone is wondering, "The City" is Bay Area speak for San Francisco. There are three major cities here, SF, Oakland, and San Jose, but SF is "The City". :)

Everything they are talking about tape trading was the way back then. It was truly amazing how a cassett could get around in the underground. I loved and missed those days. Good times and memories!

Exodus may be my favorite Thrash Metal band, but I won't deny that Death Angel is hands down the best Thrash band out there at the moment. The Evil Divide and all of the albums that led up to it since their reunion proves it. Nothing comes close to Death Angel 2.0.

Death Angel is one of my major influences in listening to metal in the Philippines during late 80s/early 90s. You are not a true metal if you dont listen to them. Ultra Violence and ACT III are two of the greatest thrash albums of all time IMHO.

Ps: in the description it says the interview was made in 20010, now thats amazing. Does BANGER still exists in 20010? xD ahahahah \m/
