i was going to build a short box square body but i got a 79 4x4 short box cheyenne full option truck with the 400 and 400 turbo with under 35,000 miles on it for free in mint condition even the paint just had to put a new fuel pump and clean out the carb from sitting for years in a shop plus i got a 67 rs ss 427 camaro ,68 ss 396 camaro with 2 79 z28 camaros they all need restored but in good shape, no rust at all in them all parked in a shop then got 15 rigs parked outside all for free so they could sell the ranch i call it my holy grail find
I like your 85 c10 it reminds me of my dads 81 Scottsdale burnt orange and tan he had some white wagon spoke wheels on it. He would catch 1,2,3rd and roll it up to 85 and in 4th the tires chirped. I would like for you to see a channel on yt. Big daddy skull garage the skull burban. Them boys are like you no money putting stuff together on a small budget. Very few people show you how to turbo charge on sbc's. Check out that fellows 74 nova 2 4brls and twin turbos. No offense but take them glass fuel filters and throw them all in the trash. I personally have had nothing but trouble out of them and they are restrictive if they're not full of trash. The old plastic one's are better and safer. I like marine type fuel filter with a base that you mount and uses a spin on filter. I don't like rubber fuel line i would use little as possible. I seen in one of your videos that little fire extinguisher is not enough to put out a gas fire. Ask me how i know. 3 or 4 of those small one's.
Fuck no I had a throttle body engine and I put new intake and mild cam and elderbrok 600 which is equivalent to the Holley 650 which I heard and the throttle response is crazy you won’t have good throttle response with tbi

hell yea brother, hows the performance vs the 750 when it was new? I know you just opened this motor up though didnt you and tried another cam so idk if you can get a good idea? I went from a ole edelbrock 600 to a summit 750 dp mechanical secondary and it woke it up in the upper rpm range. the 882 heads dont like that much rpm though but the new promaxx 190s should.
You should race Jack Black with that truck I have a sneaking suspicion that old truck would probably whoop his ass. Look up Snider Tron 3000 and you'll see blackjack
@@bowtieguy601 ok ok i mean ive done a new timing chain and timed it to factory specs its just that if it does not shift down its sluggish untill 3000 rpm then it picks up ive tuned it as good as its gonna be if u do the math for how many cfm u need the max is only about 400 unless your rpm is surpassing 5000

I have the same model, just black and chrome. Did you have any issues with it flooding straight out of the box? I'm thinking maybe fuel pressure is too high at 7psi.
Got a question bud, I set my balancer at the T/C (0) mark to zero on the timing tab, set the dizzy up rotor bug points at number 1 cylinder and it only wants to give a light backfire, also causing a decent size fire as I was trying to adjust the carb😐 so my question is, can you give me a few pointers maybe something ive overlooked, I dig your vids and some advice would be amazing🤘🏻

Yeah you prolly got it 180 out.. take your cap back off and see where your rotor is pointing at and then turn it 180 degrees and drop it back in and it should start
The Edellbrock carb is based on a Weber they are good carbs out of the box for mostly stock motors i have one on my jeep 360 motor good mpg as well , the Quadra jet off a factory motor will leak fuel inside causing trouble thats why most car guys dont like them, fix that problem and they are a descent carb , but the holley is so adjustable a racer can adapt to the weather very easy, I raced at Gainesville fla the track is really close to sea level , I raced in Georgia small adjustments are needed and the Holly is the easiest carb to do that, plus most racers carry parts ,so if something go's bad , someone is going to have it. Hard to beat that lol

I used to build a lot of the old square body Chevys myself I still got a heart transplant made it to a turbo 400 waiting to go into something it's actually one that I pulled out of my old square body 83. It's a stout 427 stroker small-block makes round 680 on the motor

The carb choice depends on what you plan on doing , street daily driver the 600 is good , but if you plan on a bigger cam or race it part time the 750 vac secondaries is a better choice , it can do both
They're pretty close... the vortec motor had a wiped cam lobe also.. when I first put that vortec in my truck it ran pretty strong but after cam wiped out it lost some power
I like Holley carbs best, super quick adjustments, thats why they are used in racing, with bigger cams the fuel delivery is better , with most motors they run great right out of the box. For experienced racers like myself they are very hard to beat for overall use

If it's not responsive it's prolly a tuning or timing issue and not the size of the carb.. a 650 will work fine on a 305

It's not needed.. I've seen some people say they can help power wise a little bit sometimes but I'm not sure

Depends on what heads cam how high you turning it etc but a good built 383 usually can take a 750

That vortec motor seem to be stronger than this one
They're pretty close... the vortec motor had a wiped cam lobe also.. when I first put that vortec in my truck it ran pretty strong but after cam wiped out it lost some power
