    Is there any significance to Hatshepsut burial chamber being nearer in elevation to the mortuary temple (regarding the steep descent angle and 320’ drop

    Actually there are inscriptions at Deir el-Bahari that show her leading a successful military campaign to Nubia. And, as Thutmose 1 built fortresses along the Nile and a canal in Nubia to avoid the rapids, set up a boundary stone at the 4th cataract, was the first to appoint a Viceroy to rule Nubia, I'd say he did integrate Nubia into Egypt.

      Apparently the book "Ancient Records of Egypt" by James Henry Breasted contains the translations of her obelisks.
