    (Update April 2024) You can now use GO App. that I use in the video with foreign phone number too.
    I apologize the "Go" and "Docomo bicycle" don’t work with phone number outside Japan. For Taxi, please try other apps, and for bike share "Hello Cycling" and "Loop" worked with US phone number and US Credit Card. Update 🫱 th-cam.com/video/3SmCKwVhbOM/w-d-xo.html

    Thank you for another great video ! Riding a bike sounds like a good idea in Tokyo as walking might be too much, because of long distances . I tried walking in Tokyo last time i was there, after a while i realized that my destination is too far and i was looking for a metro line 😀

    Whenever in Tokyo I personally just maximize the use of the toei / subway card. Of course I still use my IC card but I find that for inner-city transportation, using the 72hr card saves A LOT. My IC card is mostly for when I need to take the Chuo or Sobu lines, or when visiting friends in Kanagawa on the Odakyu-Odawara line.
    I'm always curious about renting a bike, but slightly scared hahaha. Maybe when visiting/staying at an inaka I will need to bike around..

    I was scared to ride taxis because it didn’t seem like they didn’t take credit cards. I was not sure of the approximate final cost even though it showed the rate per distance. I thought it would take too much of my cash. I took a bus to TeamLab once on a rainy day. It was really crowded and I was worried about being able to get off at my stop. This is good information about transportation.

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for watching. Yes, it's quite thrilling to take taxi without knowing how much it will be. I agree the bus is always challenging as it skips the stops if nobody else gets off. It's always good to check the bus stop name one or two before the stop you get off, but I undersand it's hard to remember and hear the announce in Japanese. I'm glad it went well for you as a resutl. :)

    i find the bicycle part most useful and the route you recommended was almost exactly the one i took from shintomicho area to toyosu market very early in the morning (5am). i saw a bicycle stop outside my tokyo hotel in dec 22. if i had seen your video then i would have known how to rent one and cycle to toyosu market from shintomicho area instead of having to walk all the way to the nearest bus stop and wait for the bus (and i had to stand in the bus too!)

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for watching. Yes, for the route, bicycle might be a good option. It's not the safest option but it's good if you can enjoy the ride. This port I'm unlocking is right in front of Lavista Tokyo Bay, in front of the Toyosu fish market. It might be a little cold in winter though. ^^

    Really useful video, as always, Kenchan! Thank you very much. With IC cards not being available for purchase, the only options for tourists (as of today) are Welcome Suica and Pasmo Passport. From what I understand Welcome Suica is only available in airports at the moment and Pasmo Passport have a few more options around Tokyo. Highly recommend checking the websites before you fly so you can get some form of IC card for your travel.

I checked again now but Welcome Suica is on sale at airport locations only after Aug.2 and PASMO PASSPORT is still available at some station / agency counters in Tokyo. www.pasmo.co.jp/visitors/en/buy/ PASMO PASSPORT looks more fun. :)

    Thanks for the video. It was great! I've spent about 2.5 months in Tokyo over 12 trips to Japan and I'm still learning a lot from you. Your videos cover the little details that other TH-camrs gloss over.
    I think there is too much hassle using transit passes. To get the most benefit, you have to plan your trips around the system and I've found it's too inconvenient to do that. I use an IC card and just take whatever train or subway is most convenient and fastest.
    I have one question. Instead of using a bike share, how about renting a bike for a day? I did it a couple of times and both times, I got very confused about parking it. I know there are parking lots, but I also see people leaving their bikes out on the street. Is that appropriate? I stopped renting bikes because I don't want to take the chance of it being confiscated because I parked it wrong.
    Thanks again for the video.

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hello. Thank you for watching this video. I agree using IC cards are the easiest considering the amount of saving and the limitation of the train pass. As for the parking, some areas near the statoin are restricted to park the bicycle, so they might take it to somewhere. But if you are parking your bicycle in front of the certain sthops or facility, it shouldn't be any problem. You can also use a day pass for the bicycle share for 1650 yen a day. www.d-bikeshare.com/onedaypass-web-en/ Thank you again.

    Hello Kengo-san, I was in Tokyo in August and had watched a couple of your videos before the trip.
    I just want to share a note: In my country, we have a bus app and the time stated for the bus is ARRIVAL time. So, when I took the Metro for the first time in Tokyo, I missed my train even though I was standing at the platform 10mins before. Why? Because the timing for Japanese trains are DEPARTURE times. So, silly me was just standing at the platform thinking my train will arrive at 10:27... when in reality, it was already in front of me. I only realised it when the train departed at 10:27 sharp! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Nonetheless, I learned my lesson and had a great time in Tokyo! 🎉
