I watch these at bedtime and smile the whole time. Sam, I saw you several times in Houston and once at the Met. I even sat one row in front of you at Rice U when Renee Fleming sang the Straus 4 Last with Eschenbach. I have been a fan since 1986. Keep these things coming.
It's so cool hearing you talk about the late Norman Treigle. When I auditioned for my first voice teacher, he asked me, "Son, have you ever heard of Norman Treigle?", and sent me home with copies of the Heroes & Villains album as well as one simply titled "Opera Arias" by some Kansan he had worked with at City Opera. No matter what material we worked on, he always found a clip from a recording by one of the two that was relevant to the study at hand. Really cool to hear his name in the conversation.
Thank you for doing this - I really enjoy it. My husband and I have been great fans ever since we first saw you at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, when you did Mefistofele in a concert version (together with Carlo Bergonzi), must have been sometime in the early nineties. Keep safe and well and kind regards from Vienna - Dagmar
Thank you mr Ramey 😭 I rediscovered opera when I was 16, after reading Faust I immediately listened to Mefistofele and of course it was your iconic performance. After that I became quite the melomaniac, all thanks to you and your rendition of Son lo spirito che nega. Thank you so much again and greetings from Italy! 🇮🇹🇮🇹 🙇🏻♂️ Sincerely, Nicolò
It's marvellous listen Samuel Ramey anecdotes! Obviously, it couldn't be missing in my collection "A date with devil"! ;-) There was only ONE shop in Genoa where particular and unreleased recordings could be found (unfortunately, this shop closed in 2005...sob!), the shop owner had guessed that I was enchanted (fascinated... hypnotized...) by Samuel Ramey's voice ;-) and he procured me other recording ("Sam Ramey on Brodway - So in love", "No tenors allowed", "Ev'ry time we say goodbye", "Bluebeard's Castle", "Attila", "Don Giovanni"). He known that my favorite composer was (and is) Wagner and when he had procured me the video cd "Karajan in Salzburg" said me: "Your favorites together: Ramey and Wagner. I'm sure you will love this recording very much”. And he was right: Ramey's Don Giovanni is my favorite and the Liebestod with Jessy Norman is unequalled!

Thank you, Eric! I appreciate it.
Bravo Sam! Congratulations Lindsey on a real, honest and humble interview...all the qualities Sam has exhibited throughout his life.
Thank you very much, Maestro Ramey!
