That is complete nonsense. You’ll not live the life of luxury, but you can easily live on an average salary, especially if you also add child benefits that are almost universal in all European countries. This really just looks like life in the 80s in America which people are very nostalgic of. A bunch of kids, only one parent working and being able to fund everything, more domestic products.
Well, this bunch of kids is quite rare here. Guys are religious and this is a key. 100K rubles is GOOD salary per person even in Moscow but for couple with 4 kids it's a...challenge to live on this money, yes.

I've been to Russia 2 months ago (To a regional capital, not Moscow or SPB), and certainly could not see any absense of foreign alcohol. In fact, at least for beer, shelves seem to be still mainly stacked with beers from Germany, Belgium, Czechia and all sorts of other places. Some produced under license (like Kozel), but most were imports. A far more extensive choice I have in an average German supermarkets. For wine, it was perfectly easy to find foreign ones even if many came from within Russia. I did not check liquors, as I rarely drink those, but things that visually stood out when walking past - like Aperol, Bailey's or Kahlua - I saw on the shelves. Also, "look at how thick walls in Russia are"? That's normal in most/all of Europe. We don't use the US method of having inner walls made from wooden frames with drywall attached to it (creating a hollow space inbetween). European walls are made from brick or concrete.
I should add : cheap alcool. When we look at the Russian generals vs American onces, there are no extra comments to be made. On one side you have fat bald drunks who are where they are not because of their compétences but because they are friends with the dwarf and the other side you have charismatic and educated gentlemen graduated from West Point

Hi Real Reporter, outstanding presentation and very moving reporting. I served 28 years in the US Navy and got to meet my "old potential enemy" after the breakdown of the Soviet Union in the mid-nineties at a "good will" meet in Norfolk, VA. I was impressed to meet these Russian Navy officers who were my counterpart in the "military business". We had similar upbringing, schooling, values (them Russian Orthodoxy and me Roman Catholic), post-graduate education, families, and drink (alcohol) preferences! It was so strange that years prior, we could have killed one another. Peace be with you and thank you for this touching video production, Ciao, L,

Yet here you( I don't mean you personally) are in 2022 sitting on the Russian border, fueling every war conflict on the Russian perimeter.
20:02 thank you for the interview with this fascinating simpleton who doesn't understand why Europeans are not OK with Ukrainians dying, unlike him. It's amazing how hard it is for him to grasp why people might have compassion and try to help.
The western help is helping ukrainians die. Do you think Russia would stop if it sees that there're too much weaponry in a city or village and, like, say "Oh, it seems we cant fullfill orders anymore, lets go home"? You are braindead? They will, as US did in Iraq, launch artillery strike on the village and nullify EVERYTHING, from people to infrastructure. The western media would have another "great report" on damage inflicted, would abuse the "picture of a crying kid" to send more arms, process repeats. The more "help" ukraine recieves the more imminent the losses become. Or do you think that for Russia there's a limit of how many people it can allow to die? Have you ever took history lessons at school? I guess not. Felt my heart shatter when that little boy said he was so worried about his dad that he was ready to go to the front with him. But then again...if we were all capable of that, war probably wouldn't happen.
wtf is wrong with you guys? his dad went to kill other people for no reason..by his own will. Where's the place for empathy here? @@whatnot3195 What do you mean who is innocent? The child is! That child has no clue what war is in reality. Many countries have been tricked into horrible wars, and while this day and age its easier to find out via internet, some of these men were forced to go. Not everyone, especially with families can up and leave. Some may plan to surrender but not get the chance. We don't know their idiology, and even if they believe in the war, that child is going to believe what he's told! Children will believe in Santa, so of course they'll believe daddy is a hero. Not his fault at all. So yes, he deserves empathy. He doesn't deserve that pain. We are able to have multiple complex emotions at the same time. To quote a Ukrainian soldier I heard speaking of the mobilized he has/will (possibly) killed and their families, "I pity them, but I have no regret." I wish my own country did more for Ukraine, which is what causes these children to lose their fathers, but I still feel for them and also get that children in Ukraine are far worse off.
Sadly true-there seems to be no way out of this impasse at the moment,Putin, from his point of view, cannot back down because the 1st question to be asked would be so why did we start this ?and the war just grinds on with deaths/injuries and destruction.
@@whatnot3195 Totally agree with you. I believe there are a lot of people in Russia who have their head buried in the sand. Most thought they were only on manoeuvres, were surprised when they were in Ukraine and Ukrainians from their own diaspora were telling them to go home and stop hurting their own people. We have refuges here in the UK, my friend looks after one who is a midwife with a two year old so she left Ukraine for her child's safety. Her mother is also a midwife who stayed in Ukraine but had terrible stories about Russian soldiers raping women because they come into the clinic for abortions rather than births. WAKE UP RUSSIA and think about the generations of hatred you are making in Ukraine. Stop being a militaristic society where the best way out of poverty is to joint the forces. Stop taking you children and training them for war. Stop believing propaganda which is clearly from unstable people. My family lived through Nazism and how it perverted and destroyed us. Don't do the same to your families.
Gas where I'm from (as of this comment) fluctuates between $3.30 to $3.80 depending where you are (city vs rural). Deiseal for some reason is still at $5.10 and has remained around there since the summer. To be honest, your friend Misha (sorry for spelling) is doing better than what I'm doing for rent and utilities in America. I'm paying nearly $700 a month in rent and another $160 for utilities and that is for a rather crappy run down apartment ...
These prices are comparable to salaries. And it turns out that gasoline in Russia is expensive. Renting a good one-room apartment (odnushka) with European-style renovation on the edge of Moscow costs $400-550, and in the center it can reach up to $2500. I now live in a two-room apartment (dvushka) with European-quality repair and pay $710 and utilities $60-95 (summer-winter). And here it is considered not cheap.

Thank you!
Good to see such videos. It contributes more to understanding and peace than just empty slogans
How does it contribute?
your content is very valuable, appreciate your perspective and aesthetic, greatly!
Great video , but I found it a bit depressing that not one of your interviewees expressed an opinion on the war , for or against. , and the suffering of the troops on both sides and the suffering of the Ukrainian civillian population. The last interview left me speechless, and made me realise that we , the west that is, will never see eye to eye with Russia, if a relatively young and intelligent man can't fathom out why we have " shot ourselves in the collective foot "
So true your comment
it maybe, that "relatively young and intelligent man" haven't heard anything about sanctions against, say, Israel.
Excellent piece. My heart goes out to that young boy worried about his father. 😢

Here in the UK we pay the equivalent 8 US dollars a gallon for regular petrol (gas). It was nearer 10 back in the summer so paying 8 seems cheap now. . Bear in mind that 50% of the cost is tax paid to the government. (in 2016 it was 70% tax)

In the US gas is around $3.50 a gallon which is 3.75 littres, so 20 littres or 5.28 gal would cost in the US $18.20 which is way less than in Russia however the average salary in Russia is $800 a month while in the US it is $5000 a month so relatively gas is way way cheaper in the US.

While watching this documentary, which i find very good - and almost unbiased - I encourage everybody to go watch a video about the atrocities being committed against Ukraine every day - and the real loss of life - and the price being paid not financially, but in real blood. If russians stop fighting there will be no war, if ukrainians stop fighting there will be no more Ukraine.

@@kidra81 @kidra81 Actually what you said above is not true, as both sides make this war possible - three in fact - with the US at the forefront waging what is essentially a proxy war (with another $44bln recently sent on top of the previous $50bln). Felt my heart shatter when that little boy said he was so worried about his dad that he was ready to go to the front with him. I would hope that no matter which side you feel should win we could empathize with all the innocent, especially children, that suffer.
But then again...if we were all capable of that, war probably wouldn't happen.
Very well put. Agree 100%
wtf is wrong with you guys? his dad went to kill other people for no reason..by his own will. Where's the place for empathy here? People who are scared in this video... are the 'innocent' who supported killing Ukrainians all of this time... 6+ months, before Ukraine started to fight back. Living just 50km away from the border, visiting Kharkiv weekly/monthly - they were all laughing when bombs used to fall on Ukrainian houses ... only on Ukrainian houses.
To quote a Ukrainian soldier I heard speaking of the mobilized he has/will (possibly) killed and their families, "I pity them, but I have no regret."
I wish my own country did more for Ukraine, which is what causes these children to lose their fathers, but I still feel for them and also get that children in Ukraine are far worse off.
I know people have to get on with their lives and have lives as normal especially when they have children but the interviews of Russian prisoners on YT shows the ignorance they started this war with.
@@vottuda Fair enough
