Thanks for the straightforward guide. Like others have said a bit of Copperslip needed. Plus I'd highlight that the steering camber would need checking/setting.
Thanks champ. The mk2 i am looking at has the G60 brakes, so it´s nice to know they are 280 mm - you can never have too much brake power :) Hopefully it will work out, so i can finally get a track car. Thanks again :)
they are the same as late mk2 16v brakes yes, 256mm. these are actually off a p reg seat inca van! exactly the same hubs+brakes. g60 are 280mm, but with some grinding you can use these calipers and just buy the bigger discs.
Good clear how-to. Should possibly make more mention of using the axle stand. I hope you have insurance for when numpties start following your guides, things go wrong and they try going legal!
I find bleeding brakes to be particularly annoying Might send it to the shop for this one Bleeding a new master cylinder is a pain ill let a shop pressure bleed it
I dont understand how to get the pads off Is there a brake pad carrier on the stock setup Maybe in missing the bolts to losen it and free the pads I replaced the calipers but not the pads
Hey - nice guide. Could be really useful to many, if the whole dvd was finished. The only thing i missed was info on what car the bigger brakes came from (i´m new at this golf business) it suggests 16v - but is this from a mk2 as well? Are the G60 brakes the same or even bigger. Many questions i know :) Thanks for a nice video!
Yes 256mm are from 16v. G60 are 280mm and use the same calliper with larger carrier to fit the 280mm disc. Well worth doing 280mm if you have 15” wheels as they stop really well with good tyres! 256mm is biggest for 14”.
The Audi S2 twin pot calliper is far a superior upgrade and bolts on to the mk2 hub + mk4 golf rear calliper combined with the carrier from the old rear calliper for a hand brake that will work properly! ..the mk2 front calliper overheats under constant heavy breaking ..this conversion you can out brake any car later and stop on a gnat's cock ..: Best regards
the bolts that hold the caliper in place are stripped on my mk2. how can i remove them? ive watched at a lot of turorials, but there is a rubber thing around it so i cant cut a groove in it to try to remove it with a screwdriver. im kinda screwed. nice video btw
If you're reusing them, either hammer a larger spline into them to undo them, drill them out carefully or cut through the runner like you said the replace that afterwards.
Thanks a lot man. Still getting a lot of value from this

This is fantastic, so sorry to hear about the health complications, easily the best tutorial i've ever seen, so thorough! that Mk2 is lucky!
Thanks champ.

This is frickin awesome mate, i want to see more! give me more!
Really nice guide, thanks for uploading. One of the simplest and therefore best tutorials on youtube!

Excellent quality workmanship., 👍💯
Is a good video. Couple of points. Nothing was assembled with Copper Slip!... I consider an essential. For the rest, thank you.
brilliant!!!! Please keep them coming!

Where is the Master Cylinder video that should follow this one? You would have to convert the Master Cylinder also if you converted your hub!
You gotta put in a 16 valve master cylinder aswell
I find bleeding brakes to be particularly annoying
Might send it to the shop for this one
Bleeding a new master cylinder is a pain ill let a shop pressure bleed it
Thanks guy, awsome info. If one changes the master cylinder does the brake booster also need to be changed? I have drums at the back.
Just change master cylinder
If your car is equipped with a rear brake pressure regultor your fine
I dont understand how to get the pads off
Is there a brake pad carrier on the stock setup
Maybe in missing the bolts to losen it and free the pads
I replaced the calipers but not the pads
Beside master cylinder, do I have to replace servo pump?

Where did you get the kit?

Just master cylinder

Кстати хотел внедрить своему отцу - а забыли про диаметр колеса...теперь есть комплект для установки...зря купили....
Muy buen brico!!! Thank you!!
Un to 288 is better ...
