I've installed many Apps, by sideloading them, onto Firesticks for others over the years and did try a couple of them out to make sure that everything was functioning correctly. Now I'm wracking my brain to see if I can recall whether or not I tried Apps that I needed to register my account on so that I could check whether they were working correctly. 😉❤
You can also de-register firesticks you've given away or lost track of by going to your Amazon a/c, scrolling down to content and devices and de-registering from there. It will show all the Amazon devices you've registered over the years. Hope this helps... 😃😃

But now neither my firestick nor the remote works. Is there anything you can help how to sort this problem. I would really appreciate if you could help. Thanks
It would be advisable to log out of all your premium accounts (such as) Netflix etc.m, and to be sure I'd do exactly as u say do a total fr of the device to ensure everything has been cleared. Great vid.

I have a 4k firestick that I want to give my so who live 700 miles from me. I have updates blocked so launcher manager works for using wolf launcher as my home screen. I have it customized so I didn't want to factory reset but just deregister it. I will sign out of paid subscriptions and just keep ones sideloaded such as kodi. Since he is in a different location and has a different iptv provider will he have to change location in firestick settings. Thanks so much for your informative channel.
Thank Tanya, your Firestick info is always informative. I recently purchased the 1TB Recast for my local networks and ran into a problem with my FireStick app not linking to it. The FireTV app could see the Recast but would not load the my network information then disconnect with message that the FireStick, my IPhone and the Recast had to be on the same network which they were. After hours of setups, re-setups and factory resets, even with Amazon Tech support we could not get them to communicate with each other. It wasn't till later that I realizes that my IPVanish VPN was somehow masking the Recast network signal and after I disconnected from IPVanish everything worked fine. Have you heard of this problem and is there a work around other than turning of my VPN?
I signed-up with 'WeVPN' last December (had good reviews and I'n very happy with it so far). I have had a Recast DVR for some time and noticed right away when I connected to a server via the VPN, that I could NOT access my Recording or watch OTA via my DVR! After much frustration and consternation, I finally figured out that under WeVPN's "Privacy" setting (for their FireStick platform), there was a setting called "Allow access to Local Network (LAN).” Once this is toggled 'ON', I now could access the Recast DVR and all its functions! Seems like this should be set to 'ON' by default (to avoid this issue), but it's not. (smh) Anyway, I should think that all VPN's should have this option somewhere (as it also is needed to access your Printers and File Managers, when using the VPN on a computer). IPVanish's could be under that setting or another. FYI, the only other thing I have under 'Privacy' us my 'VPN Kill Switch,' so maybe IPVanish also has the LAN access there? Anyway, hope this solves the problem. It would be ridiculous to have to turn your VPN off just to use your DVR, right?!
I want to keep my firestick and keep all of my existing apps with all their relevent login info. But I want to login to my firestick using my alternative amazon account - can i do this without losing all my other apps login info
I am giving my son a firestick with my custom kodi build on it. Should I give it to him with my account on it or deregister it . Could he access kodi without an account. He would only be using the kodi app. He lives out of the state if that matters
If you deregister, your son will need to log in with his own account before he can access Kodi or any other apps on the Firestick. Kodi will still be there with the custom build when you de-register.

No, you do not also need to deregister. A factory reset will wipe all data.

Yes if you have signed into apps such as Netflix for example. Your login information will be stored.
Can youndo it on your phone if your not using the firestick and the tv anymore. Istill have the tv but do not use it.
Yes, you can do it on Amazon's website.
Your Account > Content and devices > Devices > Fire TV > Select the device > Deregister
